  1. Found out the Medicine Hat College Pond was netted over the summer (thats where the giant Grass Carp were) and, no carp were recovered...Must have killed over the last few winters....However, there are Grass Carp still left in Ponds at Golf courses here in Medicine Hat, But Its private property and I cant see gettin permission to fish for them... Lethbridge Has Grass Carp stocked in Henderson Lake and Nicholas Sheran ponds, and it IS LEGAL to catch them...Maybe you guys in Lethbridge and area can givem a shot in the spring, heck, I might come over and give it a go on a trip to the Crow...Probably be a hoot to get on of those big buggers on thee old fly-rod!!... Cheers...Jeff..
  2. I just fond this on a website...LOL... ...I get a kick out of the mower part...But, the "grass fly" just might work... "Take a lawn mower to your chosen carp lake (if the owner and law will permit it) and mow a strip of grass along the edge. The mower should be positioned so the grass clippings spray into the lake. Now, take a small bundle of green grass and attach it to a hook with a little rubber band. If you prefer, you can create a little "grass fly" and use it with a fly rod. When carp start coming up to eat the grass (if they are present, they most certainly will), cast this lure/bait amongst all those big rubbery lips and get ready to do battle."
  3. Orvis Wonder Line...The absolute worst line I ever Bought...I call it- "Wonder Why I Bought it Line"...
  4. Lol... ...I just sent a email to the regional Biologist, asking about the regs on the Grass Carp...Ill post what I hear back...I have never seen anything in the regs about the Grass Carp... Cheers...Jeff..
  5. That looks real fun!...Medicine Hat has N3 (triploid) "Grass Carp" in a few ponds to control weeds....And a few of them are huge...Did some research, and from what I gather, all they eat is weeds....So I don't think they are fishable??, Unless, you can tie up one hell of a weed pattern... .. *Edit*...More research revealed- Cherry tomatoes, bread, bagel, dough balls, sweet corn and floating french fries work well as bait for Grass Carp...Also read they are very smart and are hard to fool...And, are suppose to put up one heck of a battle...I'm thinkin the Carp here in the Hat are not to be fished for??...As they are stocked for weed control and are N3's...
  6. Right on Man...Looked like a blast!!...Great pics!!! Cheers...Jeff..
  7. Thats nuts!!...I have had few run ins with Telus...Few winters ago I was working up north By Highlevel....My phone plan was evenings and weekend free inside Ab and Bc...1st month was good bill wise...Second month I get a bill for 1200$$...Wtf...I phone telus freakin, They tell me the northern alberta tower was down for that area, so my phone was using a tower out of the NWT's... I didnt care, its not my fault the tower is down...They insisted that I pay the full amount!!!...After a week of arguing and threatening to see a lawyer, they bumped it down to 400$$...I was still pissed right off, but paid it, telling them they will never have my business again once my contract ran out...And that was it...Bin with bell for 6 years now...

  19. I smoke and don't worry about scent...I have thought about it from time to time...I have fishin buddy's that don't smoke, and we all seem to have about the same catch rate when the bite is on (most of the time ) Thats including a lot of still water fishing....So I don't really think it makes a diff... Cheers...Jeff..

  24. Great pics guys!!!!...My pics below, Fishin related, Yes...Did we catch fish, No...So Im thinkin these pics are not fishin related?? ...Lol...Was one of the best hike in lakes we did all summer, even due to the fact, that "Lake Of The Horns" winter killed, and we had no Idea.... We had talked to the regional Bio's a couple days prior about a few alpine lakes, but not of "The Horns"...Kinda Glad we never mentioned it to them, or we would have never went on the journey.....It was a fantastic hike, full of twists, turns, ups and downs... and a couple times left us wondering if we had chosen the right and or fastest path...12km in, 12km out...But well worth the memories and scenic/panoramic/vantage views...These pics, along with many many other pics of that trip will never leave my mind...We Have some longer km hikes planned for next year, but not quite as aggressive as this one...Well we do plan on a lake in the area and will be pretty close to or harder than the "Lake Of The Horns"...But at least the neighboring lake has chains to scramble up the rock face rather than eye ballin the best route as it was at the "Horns" (Don't get me wrong, I loved the Scramble up the face)...I know there are many many way more intense dramatic rock climbing lakes to hike into, but Ill leave them crazy ass ones to the Pro's... ... Many of yas have seen a couple of these pics this fall, but it was my high lite trip of 09....Sorry, couldn't just add one pic, sittin around 8000 ft was an amazing day!!! Cheers...Jeff.. Lake Of The Horn's fossil...(Horn Coral Fossil)...In and and around 300-350 million years of age... Twas a scramble gettin up, but sooo rewarding to get to the top and see the lake... Standing at the the top of the lake lookin down from where we came from...It was easier goin up than down...
