  1. That you don't want everyone in Calgary to move to RMH? Millarville sounds pretty sweet.
  2. Rocky Mountain House. Thats where everyone in Calgary should move. Sorry, Don. Couldn't resist.
  3. Hi Rainbow. No. I've never experimented with the system as much as you just did. Good on ya. I heard about it from the rodbuilding.org site but back then, it wasn't public (you had to pay for the pamphlet). Now that I see its in the public domain, I though I'd share it with those on this board who have more experience in these matters. I see DonA is currently scrutinizing it. Sounds like it helped you determine the line you need for your new rod. Good stuff. But if you can cast the 220grain 50ft with ease, maybe something with more grains will cast even easier? It is a fast rod and maybe "overloading" is what's right for you (for distance). Keep in mind, the heavier the line, the more splat it has, which is not good for dry flying spooky fish.
  4. I won't any more! DonA does have a very good point, but I double dare him to post that at rodbuilding.org. Don, if we going to call ourselves "rod builders", maybe you should call yourselves "rod creators"!!!!
  5. I will. And I promise to not bitch one iota while in your presence!
  6. Tako, I'm going to bitch about the CW rip off for a very, very long time. Its still a very sore point here. At the expo, at last weeks sportsman show. I'm sure there are a lot of people on both sides of the boarder who wish the bitching would just go away, but it won't. Sorry. For whats its worth, so far I don't like the smell of the Open Spaces deal. When I learn enough to have an informed opinion, I'll be sharing it.
  7. I have the DanCraft Sig III 8.5ft 4pc 3wt that I use as my primary rod on the Bow. Its the first rod I glued together and I like it lots.
  8. Taco. That second one is stunning no matter how it was tweaked. This one came off the camera this way. I don't know what caused it to turn purple. Maligne Lake.
  9. I love labs. Personality with a capital "P". Have fun trying to keep him out of the water.
  10. So why do you rural guys keep voting the conservatives in for the last 1000 years?
  11. Cortland 444 (never tried 555). Cheap and easy. Absolutely no memory. I fished it in minus 15C. Only worried about eyes icing up, not loops at my feet.
  12. Don. What do you think about the Common Cents System? Executive summary: Use a bag of pennies to meaure how much it bends and where. Sounds like once you know what type of rod you like, you can use this system to find a similar rod regardless of the manufacturer. Do you think a person could use this system to learn which type of rod loaded with a certain weight line would work for them?
  13. Being a goto fly is a different story. Sitting down to tie up a couple three dozen sure does make it an easier/quicker per fly and more preferable the laying out the $'s. I heard Goddards work pretty good, too!
  14. Not many people know that the real life Snowman was actually Ben Stickler, aka "Tailgate". His handle wasn't derived from what you think. Everyone thought I had a way with the ladies. Not compared to "Tailgate".
  15. The Bandit. I know what you're thinking but it was me they made the movie after. I was a little crazy in my youth.
  16. I want to know how Global Warming fits into their master plan. Are those chips carbon neutral?
  17. I've never seen anyone finish a head like that before.
  18. You guys have weird materials over there. I'm sure I can find a substitute. Thanks, Fishie.
  19. I agree. Even though I could tie one, Its one of those flies I prefer to pay someone else to tie. Good job, DBT. I'll give you $2.
  20. I had my 96 Saturn SL1 stolen from my back alley last thrusday morning. I reported it stolen because I didn't want to be accused of committing a crime with it ("Why didn't you report it stolen, boy?"). They called me monday saying it was at the impound. $100 and 2hr of waiting/processing, I got the car back. No damage with only a toolbox and some change missing. Only about 50km put on it. I have AADAC just down the alley from me. I suspect they let someone out that morning and the poor soul didn't have a ride home. I agree. Don't leave anything of value in your car. I hope your story ends up as good as mine. ps. Another example of the Alberta Advantage.
  21. That looks great. Congrats on coming up with a winner. Feels good, eh? What's the recipe? How big and whats the abdomen?
  22. The H&H club will have a booth at this weekend's sportsman show. We should take the opportunity to use that exposure to reach more people then those who read this forum. Maybe print a bunch of these for the table. I'm not there til Sun afternoon, though. I also can't make tomorrow's meeting. LadyStrange?
  23. Allan. $50 coming your way. Others should know that if you can't fork out $100, any donation, no matter how small, will help.
  24. Put down for that, Toolman. Seriously. Thats one of those "kill two birds with one stone" things. I can tie flies and still spend time with the family. (I guess I should read the StreamWatch thread.)
  25. I'd say I'm one of the guys that don't make a *hit load of money and have to work hard for what I do make. That means I don't have a whole lot of spare time or money to donate. And when I do find myself with some spare's of each, there are so many other things putting demands on them (family, Liberals). One of these days I will be able to contribute as much as I would like. Maybe then, I won't consider myself a user and abuser. (Sorry, a little self guilt kicked in there. )
