  1. Thats bomb, man. Grovey. Far out. I like the results of those little walks you take.
  2. Has anyone ever tried one of these MonoMasters? If it works as advertised, I can see it making a postive impact on our rivers and lakes. MonoMaster
  3. That does look cool but I go with a vest *and* a pack. That way, I can set the pack down on the shore so there no chance of it getting sunk.
  4. You look like a plumber at work. Sorry, DonA. I should leave the Bow River jokes to you.
  5. Congrats on the wedding, Dr. Bull. Out by Sincline if I remember correctly. Sometimes, there are things a bit more important then FFC. Maybe everyone will notice this thread and post their flies themselves. I thank those that did so far. All great ties.
  6. Congrats again. I was wondering if I missed the summary of flies identifed with the tyers. One thing about this format was I still have no idea who tied what fly.
  7. Thanks guys. I've always wanted an auto bobbin but never liked the idea of having to spool the thread onto $$$ custom spools. But man, those are more expensive then some vises. Its going on my x-mas list, for sure. Ceramic insert the better of the two? Trout or salmon sized?
  8. Wow. That gal must know a bit more about fishing then you think. Now you've got at least one excuse to go fishin....and she gave it to you. Sweet.
  9. Does anyone in Calgary sell these?
  10. There are a lot of pluses to rolling your own. Its amazing how many of my "go to" flies are flies you can't buy (or are very hard to find locally). You don't have to worry about shops being out of stock, etc. You can weight them to your liking. You can show fish something they're not used to seeing. You can make them more durable then what you buy. When you're catching fish and your "pruchasing" buddy isn't, you can tease the hell out of him. I can go on. The advice to start slow to see if you like it is a good one. If you do, then you will shortly have enough flies/material to cross over the red into the black ($). I'm at the point where my tying is saving me money, without a doubt. But it takes time and you have to enjoy it, otherwise, just buy them.
  11. At $500 a pop every time they played it, I'd be sad too. If you're going to be pissed at anyone, get pissed at Ciccone, not the publicly (you and me) funded CBC.
  12. When downstream streamer fishing, how do you do it? Cast 45 degrees, let it swing, wait a bit and then start stripping it back upstream? I don't streamer fish much but will have to start giving it a try. BTW, thanks for sharing your methods. It separates you from anglers who keep "their" secrets to themselves so they can be the "experts".
  13. Really? Wow. I ain't never been anywhere near there. 20lbs sound like a legend.
  14. 50,000 trips? Oh...my....Gawd!!!!
  15. Pretty good for a beginner. More time riding the browns, less time riding in the browns.
  16. "You're right. Thats one weird looking birthmark!"
  17. Only fitting for a trout bum. G'Bday.
  18. Right you are, Albanna, but even fishing on our bald ass praire lakes is a fine place to be.
  19. Tight circle. A buddy from the hook and hackle club was showing me a picture of a 26in brown he caught. I recognized he was in the same area so I told him about my "same fish". I sent him my picture and he added his. I guess "Burt" has more friends then me. ps. I swear it was closer to 27 then 26. One of our tape measures needs checking.
  20. We had a CO speaker at the hook and hackle club last wednesday and he said they are starting to do, I think he said "saturations". It reminded me of the police "Step" program. Basically, get a bunch of cops together and hammer one area/violation. I think its a great idea, they just shouldn't anounce where/when.
  21. I have the Dry Plus too. I don't know where you got yours but they're $169us plus shipping plus customs.etc. After everything is said and done, they're over $200can. I ordered the wrong size and had to send that back. $30 more for shipping and handling and over a month later (they go to Ont first and land in a big black hole), I got the a chance to use them. I fish about 4 times a month and in about 6 months, they developed a small leak at the ankle. Cabela's took them back without question but it took another 2 months (same black hole). Of course, they showed up the day after I left for a fishing trip. If I was to do it all over again, I think I would avoid mailorder waders.
  22. Just one example, but eyes straight and we know it survived. Same Fish Thread
  23. Congratulations to Clyde and all the other participants. It sure was entertaining to watch. Thanks all.
  24. I can't believe that second one. Thats just gross.
