  1. #2 & 8 look interesting too. Is that some type of hair or foam halfback? What is the body made of?
  2. They have some beautiful pictures on there. I clicked on sponsors hoping to see mention of FlyFishCalgary. Not. I know 10 grand isn't much and maybe not sustainable, but maybe a mention in small font?
  3. I have Polly's "Fuzzy Nymphs" right in front me right now. I was just reading about the casual dress last night. He used it for moving waters. Doesn't mention stillwaters at all. Thanks for posting about its effectiveness in those waters. BTW, is that muskrat back fur? It looks too light. I tied up some muskrat's and little stones for myself and LoneFisher. I already landed at least one fish on each, which is not too bad considering the amount of time they spent in the water. I'm very intrigued with the Nondescript. No you have any experience with that?
  4. DBT. Looks nice....I'll take a box!
  5. I'm out as well. I like the format this time around but I don't think I'll have the time.
  6. Its a legal system, not a justice system. Don't get me started on the injustice of alimony in today's legal system. To me, there is only one true justice system, and that kicks in after you kick the bucket.
  7. DBT. I've just gotta say......I've never seen an emerger with a beedhead. Thats thinking out of the box. (Very nice tie, BTW)

    Cuba Si 2

Maybe they should call them Crackon. Just as addictive and just as expensive?

    Cuba Si 2

Its the first time I heard it!! Now, what was I doing during that time? Oh ya. Nothing but a couple dozen stinkin trout. I wish I was you.

    Hopper

I like the extended furled body. It will sit in the water with a splat and that full wing will keep it afloat. Like a real hopper. I've never seen a hopper pattern with an extended body. You may just have something there.
  11. You tell vivid stories, RickR. I look forward to them. It brought back a memory and there is no way I could tell it as good as you, but here goes anyway. 4 of us into a 7 day backpack. Day 6, I believe. Heading toward Maligne Lake. We just hiked about 18k and were at our destination. A nice camp in a nice safe valley on a nice sunny day. It was still early, so some jerk (who's name I'm still trying to forget) suggests we try to make the next one. Only one pass away. The other two agree and since I'm out numbered, I reluctantly agree. About 2 hours later, we find ourselves at the top of that pass, with horizontal rain pelting us mercilessly, the tallest tree about knee high, with lightning flashing all around us. My only consolation during the whole ordeal was knowing that if I got struck, I wouldn't have known it. We all made it out alive. The rainbow was especially beautiful.
  12. Bump..... Just looking for where to send the cheque. TM, maybe you should include the link at the bottom of the bidding list. Payment Info
  13. Yum and Yummier. Love the bead idea.
  14. IRON VICE. I love it. Can I be the commentor?? "Squeezon!" "uuh" "The challenger just added a dash of mylar to his dubbing loop!"
  15. This is a very unique idea. Everyone ties a fly they think will work that night and then give er a try. Maybe provide a fixed list of materials that can be used and have people come up with something on the spot. Kinda like the Iron Chef show with the trout being the judges. I'd be into just sitting on the bank to watch the outcome. And then, copy the hot fly for future posterity.
  16. Sage Launch 4 pc cost $200. Tip cost you $50 (butt, with all the expensive components, cost ???). Sage has a good scam going there.
  17. I guess that settles it! Thanks for letting me know.
  18. Big fish like big bites, eh? A lot of very knowledgeable anglers say the weight is better on the leader and not the fly. A heavily weighted nymph has all the action of an anchor dressed in feathers being dragged along the bottom. 18's and 20's are working very well on the Bow Bruisers lately.
  19. Her portable gear weights at least 40lb's. No kidding. I'm surprised she doesn't have some of those Toon wheels afixed to it.
  20. It came to me as I was writing the reply. What do they call that? An Epiphany? I've never used knotsense but I'm going to buy some tomorrow. The only thing I can see go wrong is the dap of clue will slip because its not fixed to a knot. It would be sweet if it worked. I'm always adjusting my weight (one of *the* most important things to do, IMHO) and stacking them up on top of a small bb welded in place makes sense.
  21. If I ever found myself in Leanne's position (and we all are. We never know if we're going to live to see another day), I hope I had the strength she's showing. Living every day as it was meant to be lived. Another gift from God to be enjoyed as best as it could. She sounds like quite a woman. Thanks for posting. A lot of thoughts will be directed towards her and her kids.
  22. Very interesting,Don. Thanks for the legwork and exposing some myths/things to be aware of.
  23. Hydropsyche = Paolo the Gun pow, pow.
  24. I like the looks of those generic nymphs. Its fun getting a glimpse into another flyfisher's fly box.
  25. You shouldn't be reusing shot. When you crimp one on, the lead is soft enough to form a little dent. If you took it off and resued it, you now have a dent to deal with and it will start slipping. I've never tried it, but I would think a spot of knot sense might stop it from sliding?
