  1. Yes. Get some Dave's Fleximent and dip your tooth picks into it. I dry them on my fly tying light spring but you can come up with your own method. Clip off to length needed. It stops the thinest line from slipping and slows down the eventual waterlog/mushy state it will eventually achieve. Works great! I'm still not a thingamaboobie convert, but I'm trying.

    Mexico

At least you were there. I'm just a little bit jealous. I work my *ss off and can't even do the Elk for a day. Good on ya. ps. Can you adopt me?
  3. I'm pretty darn sure they are not the same thing because I have about a pound of it ordered from: sparkle source I've tied them using antron and until you have some of this stuff in your hands, you wouldn't think there is a difference. There is.
  4. Cool, but does it come with bilge pumps? They may start out totally waterproof, but eventually.....
  5. And think hard about it. I'd say any nymph size 12 and down should be unweighted with the rest of the line providing the means to get it down. Don't rule out split shot, swivel or a SJW to get it down. With a small nymph 12 to 16 off the bottom of a SJW, that nymph is in the zone and has a bouyancy equal to the real thing. In slow water, I will often use, from the bottom up, small nymph, 12in mono, another small nymph, 12in mono, swivel, 12 in mono, small shot, 12 in mono, another small shot, 12 inch mono and one more shot (adjust shot per water conditions). It almost cast like a dry setup. Admittedly, when it does ball up, its a real *iotch to untangle, so don't use in windy weather.
  6. Orvisonly, I think you are a pompus *hole. I hope that doesn't bother you.
  7. Sweet. Gangsta, but sweet.
  8. Wow. All I gotta say after watching that is I sure would like to thump some ignorant chest thumping idiots in the head. They give their whole country a bad name.
  9. Let me guess. That was a PETA conference, right?
  10. All women are beautiful. Or maybe I'm just a horn dog.
  11. I hate driving to the Okee because of all the "good" drivers. I once had a minivan with full family in tow pass me and about 10 other cars on a double line inside bend. He ended up forcing an oncoming car off the road. The beatiful thing about it? It was a cop car. He did a U turn, past us all and pulled the van over. Boy, did he look mad. I hope the driver got jail time and his kids sent to a foster home.
  12. Great minds think alike. Mine has been very handy. I think they should be mandatory.
  13. I just checked him out. Excellent. Thanks for that link. Campfire groupies, watch out.

    Goodbye

Amen. My dad passed over ten years ago and I still think of him almost every day. I wouldn't want it any other way.
  15. I support servers and I've heard through the grapevine Dells have far more troubles then their counterparts. HP/Compaq servers are supposed to be more stable. I also have friends who got those "get an internet connection and get a free Dell computer" deals and they have had memory and cpu and other failures. You probably get what you pay for so its a good thing they are known for great support. I know we aren't supposed to slam vendors on this site. I hope Dell isn't a sponsor.
  16. JayVee, do you use any recording software? I've played around with Audacity. Pretty cool. Opensource. I like free. You can save your recordings as MP3 and upload them to something like stashbox and email the link to your friends. Kinda fun. What I would like to find is some kind of drummer emulation software.
  17. I'm not sure who said it, it might have been Lefty, but they said the one thing that spooks a fish the most is line ripping off the water. Not that we have to worry about that on the Bow (or Bulkley, etc.) but if its true, spey casing is not for spring creeks. After watching that video, I just thought I'd point this out (risking a thorough correction from the spey community).
  18. Nothing can replace a *good* teacher, but they are hard to find. Even an average teacher with the structure of the following books might be your best bet. I've checked out a ton of books from the library and compared to them all, I highly recommend Blues You Can Use. You will have to order it off the internet as the library doesn't have it. After working through it, you will have command of the whole fret board. I'm only half way through but I'm getting noticeably better with each chapter. He introduces just one small skill with each chapter/song. Its an amazing book. If you're into heavy metal, Troy Stentina's Metal Lead Guitar comes highly recommended. The blues book has more "read this and play this song", so its more fun to work through. The Metal book is more "practice this exercise to build your speed skills" method. They are supposed to complement each other. I've search the internet high and low and picked up tid bits here and there but I didn't progress until I picked up these two books. They are well worth the cost of admission. ps. Once you're "good", you'll be able to play any style of music better. Blues Reviews
  19. All I gotta say is during these tough economic times, intelligent customer service is what will seperate the be's from the wanna be's. If WSS is making more money off the hunters then the anglers, then good on them for their marketing approach. For the rest of us, we'll go (and continue to go) where the product is.
  20. Crow....protected from the wind.......ha. Good one.
  21. Exactly. If its windy, you want a heavier line to punch into the wind and that takes a heavier rod. The weight of the rod has less to do with landing capability compared to the tippet and hook. The only thing you have to worry about with a light rod and a big fish is breaking your rod. I have yet to break a rod (knock, knock).
  22. I use a 3wt for nymphing almost exclusively on the bow and a 1wt for the Liv and rivers I know the fish very rarely get anywhere near 19in. My arm thanks me for it. If someone wants to slam me, I invite them to come out one day and we'll time how long it takes to land them. I bet those who take 10mins to land a 16in fish on a 6wt will be very surprised.
  23. I just sent the following to the big "C"'s ...I'll keep this short. When a person is trying to decide who to vote for, it becomes an exercise of weighting issues against each other. I like this, I don't like that. I can live with this, I can't live with that. To each their own. If my interpretation of the proposed amendment to the NWPA is accurate, and if it passes into law, I will have to seriously reconsider my vote for the Conservatives in the next federal election. It may taint my view of conservative principles for a long time afterwards. This issue is important to me. Please don't think it will pass under the radar.... I hope it sends the appropriate message.
  24. DanCraft. Sweet. What type? 1wt? Double sweet. Are those recoil single foot guide?
  25. I shopped the BassPro in Michigan and the fly fishing section really, really sucked. 200 million square feet of hunting, camping and clothing and the "other" fishing, but pitiful on our love. No lie, they had a hut about 1000 sq feet dedicated to flyfishing. Michigan has some great flyfishing water too, so you'd think??? Being a big box chain store, I'm not hold out too much hope they will adjust for the local. I hope I'm proven wrong.
