  1. u got it dave!!!!! lines are important too. for my lightweight sticks nad dryfly rigs ive bin reall loving the rio gold and loop opti stillwater lines.. the selective trout by rio isnt bad either but it has a super long front taper that i only use when im on th odd lake were i need a delicate cast on teh flats.... SA gpx and rio grande lines are nice too lined a half line size heavier than the standards too for those shorter casts no having th full head out of the tip of the rod! what lines are u digging these days dave?
  2. nice ties everybody!!!!!!!!! danhunt u think u could get a larger pic? if u want u could email me one and i can resize the sucker! sunskyhooksnwater@flyfishcalgary.com
  3. i got mine set pretty tight.. for nymphing the bow and streamers on the bow if the fish is in teh 18-20" mark and spunky its gotta work too pull a 20 foot run.. andis going too be bagged if it takes another run... any of the smaller fish will more than likely fall off or pull the hook cuz they cant pull more than a inch or two of drag.. i like it that way!!!!! i only wana touch the gooders anyway! and its better for the little fish too not really get played, tired, or touched..... thems the future generations or lunkers!!!! the most important!! for bull trout and big streamer fish in the mid too high 20's i got it even tighter..... same reason...... i dont want a big fish running way down a smaller river possibly bashing into rocks...... i like slapping the plaming rim too pick up slack line at my feet but i dont palm the rim during the fight for more drag!
  4. i will be there with whistler n uliwon in the whistler flyfishin booth again!!!!! should be a gooder!
  5. i get the ones that fishtales sell.. they have the eyes already mounted in em! saves me alot of work!! they only come in a few colors tho so it all depends on what u are looking for!
  6. happy b-day mofo!
  7. im game rick!!!!!
  8. i agree with you on this one rick! but in some cases like on this board some things need too be pointed out not only for the person who hasnt had much knowledge on fish handling but for all who also read the thread! its a shitty game in smoe ways because one person who didnt kno gets flamed as other lash out but it seems that the average fishing pic posted latley has bin better for the most part..ive bin grilled two back when i was first learning tha basics and major parts of fish handling and every year try too take it too another level.. i think what happens needs too happen and those who get the finger pointed out need too understand the upside of the post.. and as a mod help with taming down the flames!
  9. birchy nailed it!!!! unless there is a peticular taper you wish too cast u could bring your own... but each booth should have lines too toss on the gear they are selling!
  10. thanks yall! typical caddis larvae sizes dude!! all depends on teh river u fish! cant go wrong with 14 n 16th

  16. i like tungstens idea.. kinda what i do with beeds, cones, tubes too! get a assembly line goin.. attach them too teh hooks u plan to use paint them while on your vice then hang em from a piece of styrafoam or even a old flybox stood upright...
  17. ive just bin using a long thin sewing pin or needle for my extended body work.. any link too the tools?
  18. that is a common theme on alot of fishing shows dude.. totally unreal.. the biggest thing that bugs me about fishing show and some magazines is alot of people see this and figure "because the pros do it its alright" and that is how some anglers get bad fish handling habits..
  19. do some research on the forum dude.. tons of good topics started on having more success on fishing teh bow.. with nymphs i find most people are doing only a few things wrong.. propper mending is key, same with quick strikes and moving through the run covering as much water as possible.. depth can be a issue aswell but if you getting down and bringing up some debri every few casts or so u are in the right place forsure! a juan and a few smal beedheads should produce for you.. so my guess is in your mending and striking.. as for dries.. unless there is a good hatch its hard too bring fish up off bottom too strike.. the visability in teh bow is hard for fish too see whats on top onless they are already there feeding on the hatch/egglaying bugs... streamers is all about covering ground.. u are looking for active fish.. i find the biggest flaw in most people when streamer fishing is not covering enough water looking for those aggressive fish..
  20. sorry for he confusion.. he first fly is bezz, second is, journeyman carpenter, third (small photo) is tightline
