  1. Lovey selection
  2. Love the bend in that rod.
  3. I use Kool-aid, works great. Rite dye will also work nicely but the colors aren't as bright in my experience. Us containers you will not need as it is a dye and will do a job on plastic. and even some glass. I use mason jars with lids to store the mixed dye. Add a tablespoon of vinegar to each quart to help the dye fix to the material, Soak the stuff you are dying in soapy water to remove dirt and film. Then rinse well. Mix your dye and heat in a microwave for about a minute to heat it up. I suggest dying small pieces first to test your color. Use rubber gloves and tongs and I suggest doing it on a scrap piece of plywood not on the kitchen counter. Dye will take ot most things except for glass. Put the material in the dye and place in the microwave again for about a minute. Remove and rinse, repeat till you get teh color you want. When you get the color you want remove and dry on newspapers, a hair dryer helps speed things up. Material will dry about a shade lighter than they look when wet. Hope this makes sense, have fun.
  4. those toppings are perfect, quick put the fly under glass.
  5. Was thinking of going but other commitments. Have fun boys and tip one for ol' Doc.
  6. Wow I always love your picture posts Bob, a great place to come back to during the winter and dream.
  7. Fish are throughout the Bow River system, there no section that I haven't caught Trout in, some areas do hold more than others but its much more than knowing a "spot" these change seasonally and sometimes hourly, Or even knowing the "magic fly" as they feed on what is available through a multitude of hatches plus aquatic life through the year. Its more getting to know the river, pick a stretch and shake hands. Spend the time, experiment and and enjoy fishing, the fish will come. Hiring a guide can also be rewarding to fast track your knowledge base. If you want fishing reports for exact places to go and what rock to stand with what to put fly on unfortunately you wont find it here. If you want to truly learn about the sport, be a contributing member, read past posts, research the sport find friends and grow as a fly fisher this can be the place.
  8. Predators sure have their place. But so do every other animal in the chain.
  9. Beautiful stuff.
  10. I often use a Meiser 3/4/5 double hander, nice rod and enough for a tussle with a big fish.
  11. I can see it not too bad, cloud breaks, lower half in earth shadow. Really cool
  12. Ring around the Rosy.
  13. As above
  14. Report, report, report!!! on a few occasion I've taken pictures and sent those off with a report and License no's. But above all else just look and report, never get into a confrontation. I also email areas of streams with discarded bait containers so they can up patrols.
  15. This one managed a few fish, I do have another favouite that I'll get a pix of.
  16. I'll have to get down there and check those out.
  17. He is right, I would sight fish Whitefish from my boat and loose track of the number of 5 to 110 lb + fish
  18. That class fish was not unusual fly fishing Badger... at one time
  19. Humm... got me thinking, might build up a 3 wt fiberglass this winter for next seasons small streams.
  20. Tying a bunch of different streamers for the Shuswap and Kootenays. Will need to nip off the front hook and de-barb when I go.
  21. A hatch of Blue Wing Olives
  22. As an example they net huge numbers of Whitefish out of McGreger. Unfortunately lots of other species like Walleye get caught and killed. There was a time when I would fly fish for Whitefish there but the numbers have fallen to the point I no longer would see them in the shallows.
  23. I've experienced this hatch on some of our streams, timing is everything. Wonderful time if you have the pattern. Caught the tail end of it this year
  24. Best news I have heard all week.
  25. Excellent for you guys
