  1. I ran in to Brett Hull in the Cabo Wabo bar in Cabo san Lucas during the strike year. I talked with him for a while and then I called my friend over. I asked Brett if we could get a photo and he said "Yes". So I gave him my camera and he took our picture!! Not what he expected. It was classic!! I now have a "Brett Hull snapshot"!!
  2. Well, I have a favourite spot and it wasn't known at all until some one put up this sign. Now everyone is fishing it!!!
  3. Sean is Johnny Darbles
  4. So after a summer with the new Sharkskin line I was very happy with it. It is an awesome dry fly line. Floats well, picks up well and roll casts well. Now that I'm done for the year I was wondering about the maintenance/cleaning I should do. Does one use Armour All? Soap? Line dressing? Because it has a rough texture would these products ruin the line? Advice please.
  5. C'mon Flames Fans, Kipper shaved down his GAA in those two losses to Edmonton. I think Keenan is going....gone!
  6. After the first game the Flames got what they wanted..........balanced scoring from all 4 lines!!!
  7. I have one of those fly threaders and it works most of the time. I also use the flipdown magnifiers as well. Fishtales also have bifocal polarized fishing glasses with different strengths. They run about $100. The staff there say the lens is great as well.
  8. Here's a link to another great use for vodka. Can't wait to make a batch of BACON flavoured vodka!! http://www.yesbutnobutyes.com/archives/200...flavored_v.html Also a jigger is a shot glass. You got that right Lynn.............Weird!! Lol
  9. I know...I know..........!!! It was very frustrating with no camera!! Fishing was OK. Bring lots of very small dry flies!!
  10. I went down to theOldman Gap etc Sept 28-30. Froze my butt off tent camping at RHC and still got a sunburn from the beautiful weather!! All the cattle are getting rounded up now. It was kinda neat to watch especially on a couple of amazing sunny days. The Gap is full of dust from the cattle trucks going back and forth and long lines of cattle are being driven down Maycroft Rd. Alberta at it's finest!! There were a lot of great photo op's but I forgot to recharge my camera!! PMO!! I did stop and ask a cowboy how many cattle he loses a summer and he told me that they had lost 12 to wolves that they knew of. Yikes!!
  11. Looks like the Flames record since '89. They are a match made in heaven!
  12. I agree, but the fly I am looking for is a dry fly/emerger pattern. I got to keep on looking I guess. Thanks gang!
  13. The Fishin' Hole had rubber replacement nets with a tape measure printed on the net that zip on for less than $20
  14. A friend told me of a pattern called "Little Green Man" I believe it is a small #24 PMD pattern the apparently slays them on the Crowsnest River. Is anyone familiar with this pattern and have the recipe?
  15. Enuff with the "Sheep shots"! We have enough on this board!!!!!!
  16. What does "grease your line "actually mean?
  17. 18-20" is bigger than average for there. That was the size of the ones I saw rising and couldn't get. I have had great success all year there and I have found the fish eager, it was just last week when they frustrated me. They will be mine.....................Oh yes!............They will be mine!!!!
  18. Tried the GG as well. What exactly is a pattern "for a greased line emerger"? and where might I purchase them?
  19. I was fishing up from the Gap on the Oldman and Racehorse and I saw a lot of fish rising. I tossed out alot of BWO's of different sizes above the head of rising fish. I also threw out Mahogany Duns, Caddis and terrestrials. I caught fish but I was frustrated by the big guys I saw rising and ignoring me. Any suggestions on what dry's to try next week when I head down there again for my last weekend of fishing/camping?
  20. I tried to get him for awhile. No success. My fishing buddy was awed by a bull chasing the cuttie he caught in the same pool. First time he had ever seen it. I'll try again next week. Any fly suggestions?
  21. Try the Deschutes at the junction with the Columbia. Lots of steelhead spey casters there and a campground. 1 hr East of Portland
  22. I purchased mine at Fishtales and I have seen them at Wholesale. I really like them. Very comfortable especially for wet wading.
  23. I was fishing the Upper Oldman last week and came across a deep pool with 3 large bulls sitting in it. I decided to pull out my 1 streamer, a Zonker, given to me by a fellow flyfisherman while fishing a few weeks ago. I put on a bunch of split shot and threw it in. Much to my surprise I got a hit and had a bullie on for a few seconds. I am heading to the same place in a few days and I was wondering what technique I should use to try and get one of them. I have a sinking tip line that I could put on. I need suggestions on weight, length of leader and strength, and a few fly suggestions. Also where to cast in the pool and stripping techniques. I NEVER use streamers and I have know idea how. I am a 95% dry guy. Any advice would be appreciated.
  24. I have a sinking tip flyline that I haven't used for 6 yrs. I haven't looked but I assume it will have "memory" after being on the spool for a long time. What suggestions do you have to rid the line of this problem?
  25. Try a G Loomis Streamdance GLX while your at it.
