  1. Flickr is part of Yahoo and was just acquired by Verizon. I'd wait to see how that plays out before throwing all my eggs into the Flickr basket. I've been a Flickr Pro user for years so I'm nervously keeping an eye on it to see what happens.
  2. Went fishing. Took pictures.
  3. Might want to make sure to check this out too: https://www.change.org/p/premier-of-alberta-the-right-honourable-rachel-notley-stop-logging-in-the-kananaskis-headwaters
  4. Join the Bow River Chapter of Trout Unlimited in another step in restoring the riparian environment of Legacy Island. On June 17 we will be hand pulling leafy spurge throughout the island, in an attempt to gain control over this noxious weed. Spurge is spreading throughout the Bow River valley and once established, is very hard to control without heavy herbicide use. We are going to attempt to remove this year’s crop before it goes to seed, to gain some control over the spread. We may also remove burdock and black henbane if we have time. In addition to weed pulling, we have about 80 poplar seedlings to plant, and several hundred more recently planted poplars to water. Sign up at the link below! https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/legacy-island-restoration-tickets-35335413172
  5. Talked to a F&W officer on the Bow yesterday. He said they're working on a RAP app for your cell phone and also being able to receive text messages. The text message part will be great if you're in an area with no cell service but have an InReach or Spot that allows you to send texts via satellite.
  6. I can provide you with secure fishing spot storage. PM all the GPS coordinates to me and I will keep them safe.
  7. Probably a few different types. I'd guess there are some from other search engines and things like the internet archive. Probably also lots of malicious bots looking for PHP vulnerabilities in the forum software so they can either spam the forum or use it to host malcode. At the last company I worked for (AV software) we used to have crawlers that would look for malcode being hosted on different sites. All those things are going to show up as Guest users.
  8. Bit o this, bit o that.
  9. I don't disagree with you, but I think the proper approach to take is act like everything is clean until it's been confirmed infected by CFIA.
  10. I took it as a reference to restoring OHV use in the Castle for people too lazy to walk to fishing spots.
  11. Not sure which specific extension it might be, but there are some security extensions that can disable embedded videos. If you didn't install any extensions like that then that's not it. Also guessing that if you actually go to Youtube you can watch videos no problem? I'd start by deleting any Youtube cookies from Safari. Maybe clear your cache as well. Those are pretty much my first two steps in fixing any browser issues and they work 99% of the time especially when it's something that used to work and suddenly stopped. If those don't work another good one to try is the first aid thing from the disk utility. Should be a repair permissions option. Actually, do that anyways. It's unreal how many broken things that can fix on a Mac and even help resolve a few random errors or slowdowns.
  12. Peter, I just opened the "No nymphers allowed" thread in Safari 10.1 and I can see the Youtube video. I think you might have a setting or plug-in that's preventing you from seeing it.
  13. Fish Tales just did a spey thing yesterday. Saw on Facebook that both Troutfitters and Outfly have something similar coming up in May.
  14. Years ago Gord Kennedy showed me how to make a loop by nail knotting some Maxima on to make the loop. Never had one fail and my nail knots suck. http://midcurrent.com/knots/putting-a-loop-in-the-end-of-fly-line-with-two-nail-knots/
  15. I just stopped buying Rio lines. They have some nice tapers but I'm not spending $100+ for a line that experiences a failure after a season any more. Have had much better luck with Airflo and SA (non-Sharkskin) lines.
  16. Support your local fly shop. You can look at the quality of the flies before you pay for them and they'll only charge your credit card while you're standing at the counter. If you live in Calgary it's not like you don't have a bunch of them to choose from...
  17. It's been around for a while. That's what I have on my winch. From what I recall when that drift boat got sunk a couple years ago the fire dept. wouldn't come out unless life was at risk or something. I was thinking AEP might if there's gas and oil leaking from the boat into the river.
  18. Yes. Back when I used to off road my group didn't allow anyone to use those for recovery. Anyhow, not sure if you can get a vehicle down to the bank since I'm not entirely sure where it is, but if it's possible and there's landowner permission I could round up a couple vehicles with winches. Safer and more powerful than a come along.
  19. Official announcement. http://www.backcountryhunters.org/bha_launches_four_new_chapters
  20. We had it at the TU BRC table. If you want some, let me or jpinkster know. They're pump sprayers with Quat in them. We put enough of it in the sprayer that all you have to do is fill with water to get the right dilution ratio.
  21. If it's in the Crow it's almost definitely in the Elk. Just far too many people going back and forth between those two systems for it not to be. I'll still be cleaning all my gear whenever I travel between the two though just in case If anything this should be showing us that these things are going to spread if we're complacent. WD almost certainly came up here from people fishing in Montana. Now they also have multiple cases of quagga and zebra mussels along with this new PKX thing. If we continue to be complacent then we'll end up with those up here too.
  22. Guessing that since it's a gov't agency there's probably a specific set of guidelines and circumstances where they're allowed to do that. Could be that this doesn't fall under those guidelines or they're making sure it does before they go through with it.
  23. At least someone doesn't have your same degree of blind trust: http://www.metronews.ca/news/calgary/2017/04/11/harvie-passage-bow-river-calgary-flood-project.html Look, we'd all like to see this get done. It isn't about stopping it from happening. It's about making sure they don't do a disproportionate amount of damage in the process. The best laid plans can be derailed by a few contractors willing to cut corners to complete the project faster if they're already under the time constraint of the in-stream work window.
  24. In that case you have to get permission from the landowner otherwise you're trespassing.
