  1. Some of the shops have Rio or Airflo kits with all the different grain weight skagit heads that they'll loan out. Use the 425 to 575 grain window as a starting point and cast some different heads until you find the one that's right for you. I'd probably start at 550 then try one heavier and one lighter and go from there.
  2. When I picked up my TG-5 at the Camera Store last week they were out of the TG-4. I think they announced the TG-5 in the spring so they probably put the TG-4 on sale then.
  3. Olympus Tough is what I use too. I can never remember which hoops to jump through with this forum to embed a Youtube video, so here's a review link:
  4. Only twice. Caught on a caddis, next pic is that release, then caught on a trico about 10 minutes later when I was trying to get his buddy a few feet ahead.
  5. Because it's fun and you get the river to yourself for a bit.

  7. Everyone will suggest whatever their favourite rod is, but it may not end up being your favourite. Go to your favourite fly shop, tell them your price range and what you want to do with it. Have them grab every rod that fits the description. Cast them all, eliminate the ones that you don't like right away, narrow down and cast your favourite few again, then decide. It can also help a lot if you already have your favourite line to test them with. I've seen people come back to shops with the rod they just bought that cast great when they tested it, but not so good with the line they put on it. If the rod cast great at the shop with a Rio Grand it isn't necessarily going to cast the way you like with a Trout LT on it.
  8. Thing is that a lot of people are going to Walmart or Canadian Tire to buy this stuff. The high school kid working in the sporting goods section making minimum wage either doesn't know or doesn't care and the cashier at the front probably has no idea. The onus is always on the individual to know the rules.
  9. 5 frame per second spray and pray. Out of around 30 frames I took those were the only two that were usable.
  10. I really like the way these turned out. P8190182.jpg by Marc Fossi, on Flickr P8190196.jpg by Marc Fossi, on Flickr
  11. Yeah I was up there Saturday and while the water temps are low the levels are really low too. Even the year of the river closures I don't think the levels were that low...
  12. I may have more than one Radian. Compared it to the NRX, Sage X, Orvis H2, and a few other rods and it was the one that suit my casting style the best. Not everyone likes the look of the Scott blanks because they don't sand or paint them but the fish don't seem to mind.
  13. Very dry grass. Normally this area is jammed with RVs and quads. P8120097.jpg by Marc Fossi, on Flickr I did notice a lot more people tenting in spots normally taken over by RV squatters. 15. Fish Tales has some Partridge hooks but I couldn't say which ones specifically.
  16. Asked one of the fish creek park COs about it last year. You're ok below the high water mark like bcube posted earlier but not above it.
  17. Please also make sure to clean your gear again before you return. Don't want to bring some invasive back with you either...

I'm confused. Did someone post a comment then delete it? I saw all the pics and unless you already knew the area well, there wasn't anything I'd consider hotspotting. It wasn't like there was a pic of someone holding a big fish with a landmark like the 22x bridge clearly in the background or something like that.

Change your drive mode on the camera to "burst" or "continuous" then hold the button down and move the camera a little when it's underwater. Out of 20 frames you'll probably get at least a couple keepers. Spray and pray.
  20. Article is gone. Never got a reply to my email though.
  21. I emailed them asking for a source. There was an OHV ban announced today though: https://www.alberta.ca/release.cfm?xID=4836130FE9B8E-F9C6-90DF-2003C904FD406AEA Should make for a nice quiet weekend in the mountains.
  22. Nothing about it on the AEP website. I think this stems from someone sharing an article from 2015 on Facebook yesterday morning and it cascaded from there.
  23. Heh, too early in the morning for me. Seamaster Planet Ocean.
