  1. Or like the photos you send girls on tinder?
  2. - Nope, I have always just tried to land the fish as fast as possible, regardless of head up. - Yes, If I mis-hook a fish and he's sideways I just horse him in and release him or loose them -N/A - I have fished without a net on small cutty streams, where I am using barbless hooks and committed to the dry. Reason, less things to carry and I have a horrible fear of bears and have convinced myself that a fishy net might bring unwanted friends ( total BS but when fishing alone my mind sometimes plays tricks on me)
  3. I have a 10.5 switch 5wt and love it. I originally had it setup with a RIO switch line, which maybe it ok at doing everything. right now I have a compact Skagit line and love it. Spey cast down stream then switch lines and work a nymph rig or large dry dropper upstream.
  4. Different disease but would literally cry if this happened to the bow http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-37177181
  5. I just don't understand why people can't check the regs!! especially the Bow. you can look at your phone and go, o-**** I guess I shouldn't use bait and poach fish.
  6. 7 sounds like a awesome day. I'm happy as long as I don't get skunked!
  7. Anyway we can petition for the Bow to be a fly fishing river only!!
  8. @SanJuanworm I really hope you catch these A-holes!
  9. I haven't landed anything since Nov 2015. been out at least half a dozen times.
  10. agree with Big Dirty, went to a size 16 and got a few hook ups. Didn't get any bites on the boatman above Policeman's
  11. Ya I was wondering what the hell was with the Didymo!! someone should genetically engineer a bug that will eat that *hit.
  12. It will be interesting to see how effective this is considering that lack of funding to enforce the regulations. The major problem makers usually don't go out of the way to look for updates. I guess time will tell. It would have been nice if there was volunteering opportunities for anglers to help protect these sensitive waters.
  13. F**** this totally sucks. I can only hope that they get a serious fine!
  14. Olive over white size 6/8 Clouser with a size 18 pheasant tail tailing off the back has been working for me. Most of the takes have been when I can get the swing to a slow enough speed that I think that I have got hung up on the bottom.
  15. If you have a limited time I would recommend hiring a guide for the day.The Bow river is amazing river cause it takes serious skill to fish it right and even once you think you have mastered the bow, she can humble you in a hurry. The southern part of the city is your best bet! JT
  16. hmm if you are just looking for a straight up dry fly line I would just go with a standard WF floating line. check the grain weight on the rod to match it up but the standard is usually 2 lines sizes higher for switch. Aka 6 wt switch would use an 8wt line. Personally I have a 5wt switch with a Skagit line. which is a blast to practice spey casting and a really light switch line that can get away with casting large dries but usually using it to nymph.
  17. additional questions: my problem with fishing a midge nymph is that I can't seem to get a fish to eat one. Any tips? Also, how long do you hold up at a hole this time of year? I usually will probably send 15- 20 mins at a spot chang my fly 2-3 times then move on unless I know there's a beast.
  18. It's funny ( not really) the few pictures you can find on Instagram of people poaching. I tend to leave #douchebag in the comments.
  19. Best tips I learned: -Learn to read the water (Google can show you that) -Change your flies( I usually change my flies if I haven't got a hook up after 20 mins of fishing a solid spot. (I usually flip some rocks over and see if I can match anything in my fly box) - smaller flies tend to land me more fishing this time of year. -Change up your nymphing style (czech nymphing, can be deadly and you won't miss subtle takes) -Don't leave fish to find fish. ( unless you've landed them)
  20. Pick up the fly rod as a teenager but didn't have the patience. 4 years ago living in a 1 bedroom apartment with no A/C, the summer heat wave was so bad that I bought a fly rod from wal-mart and waded in the water just to cool off. It was relaxing, peacefully and it was a nice way to get away from all the distraction of life. Then one night I hooked in a rainbow with some serious weight. My heart felt like it was beating out of my chest and got a slight adrenaline rush. I battled with this rainbow forever (probably 4-5minutes). It ended with a broken wal-mart rod and a forearm that was sore for days but was a great re-introduction to the sport. Been fishing the bow at least once a week ever since. (unless it below zero) Currently work in Marketing for a heavy oil company.
  21. After getting leapfrogged, I would have probably gone and talked to the guy and see what his plans were. Hopefully afterward the competition of racing to the next hole would end.
  22. The people that I have run into have usually been foreign or frence. I usually mention to them what they are doing is not allowed and tell them about the fines they can receive. Have not received a facepunch..yet. That said if it was some redneck I would probably snap a few photos then try to track down their vehicle for details: Details required "Date, time and location of offense License plate number of vehicle Vehicle description, including any identifying features, dents, stickers, etc. Description of person(s) involved Description of evidence at the scene, or evidence of the crime that the violators took with them Details of the violation Call 1-800-642-3800." If I couldn't call that day I would call another time and ask where I could submit the photos. http://www.reportapoacher.com/ I wish there was a reward system in place. Ex. $500 for report a poacher that gets convicted.
  23. Fish the Sheep @ the bridge at Indian Oils Day-use Site to the headwaters. Most guys don't like walking that far but its well worth it Note: from bridge at Indian Oils Day-use site downstream to Gorge Creek and tributaries (except Gorge Creek) - CLOSED Also Gorge Creek is pretty good but you need to hike roughly 3kms to find a good Bull trout hole. I think its well worth it. Sandy McNabb gets pressured to hard, so don't waste your time there. Look forward to seeing some great Bull trout pics.
