  1. As I said they don't "think" they intended to kill (media spin on words to try not to alarm everyone I'm sure). I agree with you Toolman, they easily could have robbed them with a threat and no stabbing. I'm sure it is gang related. People just don't do random crimes. You get the rope and I'll gather up the posse.
  2. Anywhere in Fish Creek. Anytime. However they kick you out at 10pm just when the fishing is getting good.
  3. No I was fishing south of Longview.
  4. I just read an article in the paper about this. A group of 4 men stabbed 5 people randomly in less than an hour. They have no idea why and no leads who they were. They don't think they intended to kill anyone just rob them. Brutal man. With big city populations comes big city crimes. Let's face it, we're a big city.
  5. That's bull! LOL! Nice fish.
  6. Great report and pictures. I recognize the holes, was just there about a week ago or so. Man I hate that slide down and the steep climb back up. How you did it 6 times is beyond me.
  7. I've never hooked myself but I've hit myself. Not sure how it didn't hook but hey I'm not complaining. The most painful was when I was casting a clouser in some fairly strong side winds. As I came forward it swung back and down and hit me in the middle of my back. I dropped to my knees it hurt so much. I thought I was shot. I was laughing and crying at the same time.
  8. Hey Birchy, I know you're line matches your rod so that's not the problem. Kungfool has it. When you get back we'll practice up. How's the fishing going? All healed up from the teeth pulling?
  9. That's a pattern worth tying.
  10. Disturbing. I can't believe how he put the hook in his vise. LOL!

    Wet Wading

PS whats the deal with cats in the river - where do they come from (Do I really want to know ?) Are you talking dead cats? Or are they waiting on the rocks to pounce on your next catch?
  12. Tragic story. It grieves me to hear he was married and had 2 children. The float tube I had had the apron ends cut so they can't clip on for such in instance and you would simply fall off the seat. Do some tubes not have this? Are there tubes out there where you are literally strapped to the tube?
  13. So last night I'm at a hole and I suddenly see 2 dogs running right for me. I think "CRAP! There goes my fishing." No sooner did I think this I hear the owner yell and the dogs immediately turned back. They eventually crossed over to me and stood by me but the owner was very strict that they do not enter the water the dogs complied perfectly. He apologized for the hassle, which was none in the end, and left area saying he'd be out of my hair so I could fish. I can't say enough good things about this. There was a post awhile back and thought I would mention this incident. Now if only he could train all the dog walkers down in fish creek. (I'm sure there are diligent ones there as well). PS - Did anyone stop by on a motorbike last night? If it was someone on here I didn't realized you stopped until I saw you pull back onto the road. I would have come and chatted if I noticed you had stopped.
  14. I've seen those and have never known what they are for. I'll keep a better eye open now.
  15. I'm starting to really get into this match the hatch instead of trying everything until something works and just wondering how to approach it. My fist thought is a small net, lift the rocks and catch whatever drifts. But how are you guys catching the little flying bugs? By hand, larger net?
  16. That is awesome!
  17. I don't think a reward is necessary, however I'm sure more people call knowing it benefits them in some way whereas if it didn't they wouldn't call. We live in a selfish world so there needs to be incentive for people. True lovers of the rivers and lovers of the sport have different motives, maintaining the wonderful rivers and the fisheries. Either way the call gets made no matter what motive and hey, if some need the motive of a reward, great, at least the calls get made. As it has already mentioned, I agree, we are the eyes and ears for the COs. They can't be everywhere all the time and since they have a ton to do other than watch the Bow river if we don't speak out there will never be added resources. If we keep calling it in, even if there is no response, an argument can be made for more enforcement and funding, etc. With no call the other argument can be made and cuts in enforement and funding could result. Keep calling guys no matter the outcome. It'll all pay off in the end. Oh yeah and don't forget to punch the poachers in the back of the head! They don't see it coming and you can run away before they realize what the heck is happening. LOL!
  18. That is so gross! I am never fishing without glasses again. I'm getting some clear lenses for in the dark. Seriously. That's brutal. I wonder if the vision was saved?
  19. Any success yet? I just had the same problem last night. The knee method worked great.
  20. I have a 4/5 as well. Works great.
  21. Good on ya! You'll build up some fishing wounds to show your son. He'll think you're the best dad ever. Which you will be.
  22. Do you really get a reward? I've never heard of anyone getting one, even those who have reported poachers.
  23. My uncle ran over his dog while he was "walking" it. Stopped to talk to someone, forgot about his dog and YIPE...dead dog. True story. I probably should not have admitted I am related.
  24. That's funny.
  25. Fish in the river. There are more fish there than on land. It's been awhile. LOL!
