All I know is what you know, pfd and signalling device. bloom - he insisted a bailing bucket for a pontoon? That makes me laugh for so many reasons! LOL!
-
Sweet! I'll spread the word when I can.

That sucks dude. You should be able to fix it. Take it into Fish Tales or the Fishin Hole, either one should be able to help you out. Not sure how quick though. What size rod? What kind? I may be able to lend you a replacement.

Congrats! He's a keeper indeed.

Great pics man! On all the posts! Looks like a blast. Great report and good to see you had fun.

Wow this is great. Thanks guys for the great information. Much better than the articles had as this is first hand experience stuff. I don't think I'll start pumping fish (now I get why Kungfool laughed...pumping fish...that sounds so wrong LOL) any time soon. I do just fine without doing that, just wanted to more about it. Thanks again guys.

Df Painter Cleaning Paint Bucket Into The Storm Sewers
cdock replied to markd's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
I don't think any. I read a couple of books that give these credit for keeping the Bow clean and even helping it be the river it is today. I used to work at a water treatment plant (not sewage treatment however) and the only thing coming out of it was water you could drink minus the cholorine of course. I can't speak for the sewage treatment outflow but from the little I do know it's good enough to sustain healthy populations of microorganisms that in turn help plants, fish, and the rest of the ecosystem. I know industrial waste isn't good but the treatment plants should be fine. -
Man I can't believe there is such an issue with these random campers. I am just getting into that, tenting and selfsustained camping, and I've done my homework and know how important it is to leave "no evidence' when doing that. I'm really surprised that is happening. In BC they are all over you for any little infraction. I guess it comes back to that 98% are good and 2% ruin it for everyone. Man that sucks LynnF. Probably ruined your day of fishing.

So I've read conflicting articles recently discussing pumping trout's stomach's to see what they are eating. One says it's fine, the fish aren't hurt. The other says, NO NO NO, most fish are harmed or severely hurt and many die. Can't remember the actual source (it was on the net). I tried to find it in my history but so far to no avail. Anyhoo, does this hurt the fish or does it not? If I think about it it's done right they'll be fine if it isn't they'll be hurt. Only makes sense. I've never done this as I don't really see the need as just catching what's drifting and flying about seems to work just fine in order to match the hatch. Is there any advantage to doing this?

That's pretty cool. I would try it as a strike indicator.

That's awesome. -
Man those are all great pics. This is gonna be a good thread and I can see already some get pics.

Those are sweet! Man I need a camera like that. Is there a time when spending in this sport stops? 9 years and still spending on the necessities (I mean wants).

The net is a component of our law enforcement activities within federal parks without a doubt. I think that's great. People tend to think they are anonymous and can tell all about their poaching without being found out. You never know who is watching or listening.

Ah man that is bloody hilarious! I should probably remove my K Country Bull Trout Recipe off my facebook then. LOL!

Drinking On The Side Of The River?
cdock replied to birchy's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
Don't do it. Too much liability. Meet at a pub after, best option really. -
I've encountered 2 beavers on 2 different rivers and neither one affected the fishing. When it swam through the pool I was fishing the fish turned off for about 5 minutes but no longer. Basically once the beaver left the fish were back on. I justs hate it when you don't see them and they slap their tail causing you to have a heart attack, slip on a rock, drop your rod, fall on your butt and feel the squish of the load in your pants.

I was using one. Included temp, water temp, pressure, weather, hatch, what flies were working, etc. But I quickly realized I didn't care about my log and where I was fishing and conditions on that day. I simply love to fish and I don't care about the conditions. Yeah it's interesting to look back and reflect and learn what to fish on what days but I find the simpler my day can be the better so I quit using one. It hasn't affected my fishing at all and for looking back I look at my pictures. One thing I still keep note of is water levels in the smaller creeks and streams at different times of the year. Also I found the rest of the information (water temp, hatch charts, etc.) has already been done by others. I still check the water temp. but only to see if I'm in a good section. There are sections that do get too warm.

WOW! I've never seen that before in person. I get upset when I see another guy 2 km away. LOL! We do have really good don't we?

What To Do When Its Hot And The Fishing Is Slow
cdock replied to kungfool's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
That's awesome. I used to catch frogs by the dozen as a kid. I wonder if you put a leash on one you could take it for a walk? -
Aesome dude! I love it! When are you back by the way?
-
Scary dude. Glad you and your son are alright. I just recently fell in a river for the first time ever. I felt a bit panicked. I had my belt on but man that water still gets in. I couldn't have imagined what would have happened if I didn't have it on. And guys, this was a small stream that looked very deceiving. It looked easy to cross and all it took was one small extra step I shouldn't have taken. It all happened within about 10 seconds but that's all it takes. Take the extra precaution no matter what stream or river. Think of it as your seatbelt. I've been wearing one since I've been 16 and I've never been in an accident but I still wear one because the day will come I will be in an accident and it may very well save my life. No different with your waders and belts guys. Happy and SAFE fishing to all.
