  1. I'm running the new Snowbee Prestige Switch line (300gr 5/6) on my 4/5 Beulah, lots of fun to cast, these are a great line for all switch rods. I believe Courtney (Islandguy) had a major role in designing these lines. If you want to give the 300gr a try on your rod shoot me a PM and we can arrange a time for you to borrow it. Colin
  2. Never said 'crappy'. For me poor service can be a simple as lack of acknowledgement when I enter a shop, I don't expect the clerk to jump but at least a nod or 'hows it going' would suffice. And I agree with Lornce you do get what you give. Colin
  3. None Taken, can't say that everyone I worked with pulled their weight and went out of their way to help folks, another reason I left. In all honesty though I've had poor service in almost every shop in the city, sometimes people just have an off day. Colin
  4. Read recently where Simms is going back to felt http://www.anglingtrade.com/2011/06/30/sim...t-face-on-felt/ one quote from the article that agrees with what SD is saying "In truth, aquatic nuisances can be transported in many boot materials, not just felt. In some ways, the notion that an angler got a “free pass” from cleaning boots by buying models with rubber soles was as dangerous as it will be to allow responsible choices and encourage responsible care regarding felt." Colin
  5. I did it for a while (fly shop) got to meet some 'interesting' folks. For me the commute (37km one way) was too much for a couple shifts a week. Funny thing is I never used my discount once, is that a sign that I may have too much gear already . By the way the flies come from Umpqua and Rainys with the little tags already on them. Colin
  6. I'm pretty sure it is because of contamination from heavy metals/chemicals and such, plenty of industry in that area back in the day. There are a few areas marked as 'refuges' and then fenced in with a 6 foot chain link fence to keep things out/in? Colin
  7. Curious as to why they just didn't let it burn, isn't that how the prairies were regenerated at one time? Not like there are million dollar houses on the island. Colin
  8. I have a Scotty anchor lock with the pontoon adapter on mine and use a 5lb dumb bell for an anchor, works like a charm. Position yourself upwind from where you want to fish, drop anchor and let the wind keep you straight. For fins I second the dive fins, but get yourself a pair of neoprene booties to go over your wader feet, will pro-long the life of your waders. Colin
  9. Yup, sold out in pretty much one day. Colin
  10. Starting to see Z-Axis's going for around the $420 mark, pretty sure Sage won't have a problem getting rid of their 'old and outdated' product. Colin
  11. Heres the one I use, seems to work OK Colin
  12. I believe Forecast/Pac Bay has blue chrome guide(BLSNG). Not sure what ever became of the holographic guide, out of the 300 rods or so that I've built I've never had a request for them. Colin
  13. Great flies Gary!! I'm not against using synthetics in my patterns, there are a number of pre-made extended bodies on the market that work really well, and I always keep a few patterns in my boxes. This is a damselfly/mayfly nymph (callibaetis) that I've had some success on over the years. Body is larva lace with a few strands of antron and flash pulled through, very durable. Colin
  14. Wonder if it might have something to do with EHV-1? http://www.sprucemeadows.com/press/view_release.jsp?id=104
  15. Thats because I'm a month ahead of all of you, oops!!
  16. Continental is on this weekend, spent many evenings picnicking at the lake last summer, just made sure not to go on any of the weekends that an event was on. http://www.sprucemeadows.com/experience/

    The Morning

We forget that fish in a lake will usually out weigh a similar stream raised fish every time, 22 inch 5 lb fish are not that uncommon from a lake with a good forage base. Nice fish Jeremie Colin
  18. My Overtons is close to 30 years old, will be very sad the day it runs out. Nice ties Lornce, need to work on my soft hackle patterns for the upcoming small stream season. Colin
  19. No hiring necessary, once the weather warms up shoot me a PM and we can get out, I've got a few lines that should work well on the WW as well as a few rods you can try also (might as well start the addiction now olin
  20. well not really, but it sure has me Jonesing for the summer. http://vimeo.com/15570275 Enjoy! Colin
  21. Heres another one to drool over http://vimeo.com/17973045 The video about the Clay's is fantastic, recognized some of the water they were fishing, makes me realize how much I miss being out on the Coast. Colin
  22. Not a movie, but really enjoy the 'Top Gear' series. Colin
  23. Looking forward to seeing both Diane and her husband Dennis, one of the reasons I look forward to the show is to see some old familiar faces from my days on the coast. Colin
  24. How about 'all of the above' ? Colin
  25. I had elbow problems (dis-located due to a ski accident) for years, took up fishing with a Spey rod and have been relatively pain free for many years now. I do fish a single hander, I just try to use the spey rod in between as much as possible. I still find after the 3rd or 4th day in a row with a single hand rod that I have some pain and swelling. I've tried quite a few different braces as well as physio but find that when I start to ache the best thing is to do is start swinging the spey rod. Colin
