  1. well on the rare occasion I have gotten into double digits I call it a good day As I only remember the numbers if I only catch a few. Saying I caught 23, 70, 300+ ?? C'mon now try to keep track of a basketball game score without a score keeper, same deal. I wonder if fishing just happens to attract exaggerators or you start to exaggerate after you become a fisherman? Chicken or egg debate I guess.. The guys that work in fishing stores must have to gear up and put on major bullshit deflectors!
  2. Please cite your "facts" in regard to Organic operators having equal or better yield of non-organic.
  3. Organic; Uses twice the land mass for 1/2 the production. If we all decided to eat organic it would be a problem. This must be the reason why a pound of organic apples or berries cost over double!
  4. Ever been to Victoria BC? Did you flush a toilet when you were there?
  5. Were they registered? But anyways tell me how the registry could have reduced this number? Gun crime has actually increased since the introduction of the registry- with unregistered handguns mostly.
  6. "insert broken record here" There is definately a probelm with a few rogue quadders, but the "real" issue lies with the gross lack of enforcement and maybe tougher laws for the lawbreakers when they are caught. If one of these hillbillies knew a buddy who had his quad confiscated because he was ripping up a creek maybe things would change. First things first; proper enforcement is the only thing that will change this. Lack of enforcement equates no rules. The "real" problem is our current Provincial Government.
  7. You are definately in the minority of gun owners to think the registry is not a "big deal" How about lets start with the fact that there is more handgun crime from illegal handguns in Canada since the introduction of Bill C68. Something that bill C68 does not, and was not introduced to deal with; gun crime. Lets start with tougher laws for the hooligans toting illegal guns that are pimping and selling drugs, etc... Sheesh you cannot use your .45 ACP anywhere but an approved target range. Why even own it? Create enough red tape then there will not be as many registered guns to confiscate when the powers that be decide that for you. I bet the criminals that take the time to vote, vote Liberal or NDP, especially after this...
  8. Spend a few minutes researching what Calgary Chief of Police Rick Hanson has said "on the record" numerous times about the registry. This may help you understand what all the "hubub" is about on this topic.
  9. Don't ya hate it when logic and fact gets in the way of a good story? Sundance- you applying for a job with the CBC as a reporter? You are putting as much bias into your reporting as they do..
  10. Can you back this statement up with some fact? How about you post the link. LOL!
  11. I think most of us have cable, internet and read the papers too. Anyhow, thanks for the link(s)
  12. This is quite the assumption you are jumping to. Why the fear mongering? Same can be said about most cities anywhere in the world, depending on which side of the tracks you care to venture.
  13. Very well said. what it comes down to is that with the exception of beets, potatoes, carrots (root vegetables) there is not much local produce around the Calgary area. Gotta love all the Politically correct shoppers with their cotton bags at the Farmers market that drive big friggin SUV's and live in monster homes. Mostly the upper crust crowd that shop there as a regular joe cannot afford it.
  14. Many years ago I ate Permit when in the Keys, excellent fish. Why shouly Bonefish, Tarpon, and Permit have a zero bag limit? I can understand better protection, reduced bag limits, special seasons, but a zero bag limit just because it is considered a "sport fish" makes no sense.
  15. At this point the only thing that will renew my interest in the Flames is an article that outlines how ALL the Sutters have been punted..
  16. Don, Excuse my ignorance of current OHV laws; is it illegal to drive a OHV up a creek or stream? If we currently have laws that address obvious abuse of the environment then enforcement is the issue. If there are big holes in the legislation then a framework needs to be addressed that fill these holes, laws put in place then proper enforcement. My point to all this is banning is not the solution. If OHV users are considered consumptive users of a resource as hunters and fishers are then banning an activity because of lacklustre laws, or lack of enforcement is just the thin edge of the wedge. The sad reality is we live in one of the most prosperous jurisdictions in the world, yet we struggle to properly fund the enforcement of our fish, wildlife and natural areas; all held within the public trust, it is ours!!! Our current Provincial Government is failing us, this is the problem- not rogue quadders.
  17. Generally this is not the case with waders. ^^^ I pissed around for years with different brands thinking that Simms are way overpriced. I would hazard a guess that anyone who has shelled out for Simms has no buyers regret... The only other waders I would own would be wardell as they are repaired right here in Calgary, a big bonus. Oh ya- I have owned Dan Bailey, Cloudveil, Bare, Springbrook, and now finally Simms.
  18. Sorry Don but I have to disagree. When you look at the LONG TERM "mess" left behind there is no comparison. We already have laws on the books to deal with quads, the problem is enforcement, or lack there of. Without enforcement there are no rules or laws. I wish I knew how to post a google earth link? If you look at the area starting just west of Caroline and zoom up and down the Eastern Slopes the land looks like it has a bad disease from all of the clearing for Oil and Gas batteries, and roads that lead to them, all along creeks and rivers as well. There are areas west of Sundre where the logging is clear cut and right up to the banks of the Red Deer river. How one can even compare this damage and that that some rogue quadders create is beyond me? Alberta's long term financial sustainabilitry is based on the O&G industry, but to blame the quadders for the environmental damage that is going on in Alberta's wild places is a case of the foxes guarding the hen house. If the solution to dealing with rogue quadders is to ban them then we should be careful with what we wish for. Poaching is also a big problem, because of a few bad apples and compounded by a lack of enforcement. Kinda parallel isn't it...
