  1. That fish is a hawg, congrats.

    Cutties

Nice shots, looks like you had someone along for more than an hour.
  3. Thanks for the post, that's it alright.
  4. My advice is find a confluence, small creek, maybe the forks, and fish deep. I caught one by accident years ago because ny spinning reel fouled up and my red devil spoon laid on the bottom as I untangled my line. I fully expected to be snagged and when I found resistance as I reeled in, I pulled hard and the line peeled off the reel. I managed to land a four foot sturgeon. This was on the N Sask where Pine Ck entered the river. Haven't caught one since, but haven't tried.
  5. The and the ones that park in handicapped zones are real jerks. To me it always seems to be an expensive vehicle, yesterday I saw a Ford Cobra GT parked that way, when the owner came out he was a 50ish guy in no way handicapped, well except for morally I guess.
  6. Those are good phone numbers, but the only problem is it doesn't cover SW Alberta, where that bear was shot. I have seen many grizzlies in and around the Crowsnest Pass, tried to report the sow with two cubs at Phillips Lk and the male by Lundbreck and the little blond one that charged me along the Oldman. But the fish cops just said "Ah yeah, uh huh, so no one was hurt. Thanks for the call."
  7. I don't fish there anymore either, got attacked by a woman's dog (oh he won't bite). From what I have been told by the park rangers in FC and the folks at Inglewood, is that the river is open to fishing everywhere, just as long as you stay within the highwater mark limits. You can't fish the ponds in Inglewood, and you can't walk across Duck Island. But you can walk along the river and jump out of a boat and fish.
  8. So did the dog owners tear down the fence?
  9. I just got a new Davinci commuter bike, been struggling with a 1989 Nishiki Mtn Bike to this point. it finally bit the dust and I can't believe how nice it is riding the new bike. I just love commuting via bicycle and have been doing it on and off since 1978. It gets me going in the morning, the stress from the day stays at the bottom of the hill when I climb out of the river valley, I'm in great shape, I sleep better, I have a good appetite, people comment on how healthy I look and I keep the pounds off, plus there's no road rage and it's way nicer than being in a shiny metal box during rush hour. Oh and the gas mileage is unbelievable and my parking costs are zilch.
  10. Nice fish, plenty of those in that lake.
  11. I was around the upper reaches of Threepoint on the weekend and it is a raging muddy torrent. It got me to wonderiing how the spawning would be effected by this?
  12. I thought it was an excellent game, lots of chances at both ends, good goaltending, big hits and even a little Mike Tyson.
  13. Yea my son was going to cross the bridge at Sandy Beach and saw the sign and how high the river was and I can say I raised a smart kid. He hated to do it but he went around Elbow Drive.
  14. And another was run over by a semi on the Trans Canada in Banff Park.
  15. It's good that you are expressing your opinion, and I agree with it. I think you hit the nail on the head when you touched on the fact that you used to post a lot of pictures and I think it's a phase most people go through. I used to post fish porn too. But now I just admire the fish for a moment and let it go. Mind you if I catch something unusual I will take a shot and post it, kind of a novelty thing I guess. As far as the extending the arms, I always forget to do that, unless the picture taker says to do it. But I pretty much fish by myself or with people who don't take a camera along, they think it jinxes the outing. But I do like to admire the pics so I guess I'm being a bit hypcritical.
  16. Great for the Nucks to move on, after Capt Serious tied it up at the end of regulation I was thinking, here we go again, but in the end it was Hawks 1 Burrows 2. Now it will be interesting to see how the Habs do tonight, can't be too optimistic that they'll get two more 5 on 3 power plays.
  17. The water weighs the same, but the waders are heavier than water. That being said what the wading belt helps achieve is the air it traps, giving more bouyancy. Though the one time I fell into water over my head the waders did kind of flip me onto my face, had to struggle real hard to get air. Thank god for PFD's. I still wouldn't bellyboat the Bow, even with a PFD.
  18. I'm cheering for the Canadian based teams, but it just ain't lookin' good. Boston is just physically dominating the Habs, they do have definite size advantage. But the Canucks are so frustrating to watch, the young guns of the Hawks are running all around them. Where are the seldom Sedin twins? They can rack it up during the regular season but when the real season starts they're nowhere to be found.
  19. I saw one guy doing that last summer, he hooked into a beauty of a rainbow just downstream of the #22 bridge.
  20. Not lookin good right now :$*%&:
  21. Trap and take them down by Elbow Falls. The lynx, martens and cougars love em.
  22. Well lets see, the favorite in one series wins 2-0, the underdog in the other series wins 2-0. Seems to me that both teams have a legitimate shot at winning the cup. Only 15 more wins for either, and I am cheering for both teams. I can't stand Bettman, cut Winnipeg out again. I guess he's okay with the Coyotes drying up in the desert and blowing away, or maybe he thinks he can put a team in San Diego, or New Orleans, or Houston one of those hotbeds of hockey.
  23. I was at the concert in Edmonton with the ESO. Not old enough to have gone to Woodstock though, but I did hit the Black Mountain Folk Festival in Rutland. John Lee Hooker, Canned Heat and some other bands that I can't remember. I actually ran into someone last month who was there, it seemed like Jerry was there, but it all gets more than a little fuzzy now...
  24. Oh oh, one day I was wading in the Bow. I looked down and swore the rock at my feet was an old native american axe head. I took it home, am I in a precarious position now?
