I was around the upper reaches of Threepoint on the weekend and it is a raging muddy torrent. It got me to wonderiing how the spawning would be effected by this?

I thought it was an excellent game, lots of chances at both ends, good goaltending, big hits and even a little Mike Tyson. -
Yea my son was going to cross the bridge at Sandy Beach and saw the sign and how high the river was and I can say I raised a smart kid. He hated to do it but he went around Elbow Drive.

It's good that you are expressing your opinion, and I agree with it. I think you hit the nail on the head when you touched on the fact that you used to post a lot of pictures and I think it's a phase most people go through. I used to post fish porn too. But now I just admire the fish for a moment and let it go. Mind you if I catch something unusual I will take a shot and post it, kind of a novelty thing I guess. As far as the extending the arms, I always forget to do that, unless the picture taker says to do it. But I pretty much fish by myself or with people who don't take a camera along, they think it jinxes the outing. But I do like to admire the pics so I guess I'm being a bit hypcritical.

Great for the Nucks to move on, after Capt Serious tied it up at the end of regulation I was thinking, here we go again, but in the end it was Hawks 1 Burrows 2. Now it will be interesting to see how the Habs do tonight, can't be too optimistic that they'll get two more 5 on 3 power plays. -
Belly Boats On The Bow
trailhead replied to ruffsranger's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
The water weighs the same, but the waders are heavier than water. That being said what the wading belt helps achieve is the air it traps, giving more bouyancy. Though the one time I fell into water over my head the waders did kind of flip me onto my face, had to struggle real hard to get air. Thank god for PFD's. I still wouldn't bellyboat the Bow, even with a PFD. -

I'm cheering for the Canadian based teams, but it just ain't lookin' good. Boston is just physically dominating the Habs, they do have definite size advantage. But the Canucks are so frustrating to watch, the young guns of the Hawks are running all around them. Where are the seldom Sedin twins? They can rack it up during the regular season but when the real season starts they're nowhere to be found. -

I saw one guy doing that last summer, he hooked into a beauty of a rainbow just downstream of the #22 bridge. -

Well lets see, the favorite in one series wins 2-0, the underdog in the other series wins 2-0. Seems to me that both teams have a legitimate shot at winning the cup. Only 15 more wins for either, and I am cheering for both teams. I can't stand Bettman, cut Winnipeg out again. I guess he's okay with the Coyotes drying up in the desert and blowing away, or maybe he thinks he can put a team in San Diego, or New Orleans, or Houston one of those hotbeds of hockey. -
I was at the concert in Edmonton with the ESO. Not old enough to have gone to Woodstock though, but I did hit the Black Mountain Folk Festival in Rutland. John Lee Hooker, Canned Heat and some other bands that I can't remember. I actually ran into someone last month who was there, it seemed like Jerry was there, but it all gets more than a little fuzzy now...

How Many In The North?
trailhead replied to Rainbowhunter's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
There is The Fishing Center on 82 St and 129 Ave. It's not too bad, the guys in there are pretty up on the flyfishing in the Edmonton area, pike, lakes, grayling and goldeye. I used to live close to there, in fact if I remember correctly the original Fishin Hole, that Russ Thornberry owned was across the street and about 4 blocks north. -
Rule # 34 Never argue with an idiot, those observing can't tell the difference #35 More flies are tied to catch fishermen, than to catch fish

A guy has a stroke and goes into a coma. He's in the coma for months. So his wife consults with the doctor, who tells her that after this long the patient will probably die, and that she should prepare for that by doing something to commerate him. So the wife remembers that her husband used to love chocolate chip cookies. With that in mind she decides to bake up a batch of his favorite chocolate chip cookies. Well when the smell of the baking cookies hits the husbands nose he comes out of the coma. He staggers to his feet, stumbles down the hall and reaches the kitchen. There on a plate are a pile of warm chocolate chip cookies, so he reaches out to take one and his wife hits him on the hand and says, "Those are for the funeral"

You definitely did the right thing to phone the police. Something similiar happened to a friend of mine, witnesses too. The guy got a pleasant surprise, a date with a judge and the judicial system got a financial bonus. My buddy ended up getting a date with the hot lady cop that took his complaint. There is justice in this world.

Do You Save Money Tying Your Own Flies?
trailhead replied to marcvansluys's topic in Fly Tying Bench
If you fish a lot and you give flies away, and lose at lot of flies I say you save money. I typically lose 12 flies every day I go out. So if I get out 100 days and say a fly costs $2.00 that's $2400. For one year, so multiply that for a lifetime and figure it out for yourself. Plus I donate flies to various charities, and give flies to friends. I'd probably spend 3 grand a year if had to buy all those flies. -
If from what I have read and gathered is correct the Elbow, downstream of Bragg Creek, has plenty of "fertilizer" in it. The debate over the removal of the septic fields is still raging. To get the fish numbers back you need to close them to fishing period. Too many people keep what they catch, I read a story in the Herald a few years ago about the Bull Trout study in the Elbow. They radio tagged some fish, and found one in a freezer in Canyon Meadows. A twelve year old caught it and nobody in the family knew the diffence between a bull or a whitefish. As a species our physical presence creates a greater impact than any other factor, ie walking, eating, crapping etc.

I hear this is the big FIVE-O. Just remember you're only as old as you feel (when you have a fish on the end of your line) Happy Birthday Bob.

Great video, nice spot too. That bullie had to be 24 or 34 or 44 inches long.
