  1. Agreed, also the way the water looks in the 3rd shot. Thanks
  2. Very concerning. I do like some of his economic policies and the way he rode out the last depression here. I feel Canada has come out of as a strong economic player on the global front. Sadly I wish it was not at the expense of science, nor do I feel it should have been at the expense of science. Thank you for posting.
  3. Being relatively new to the sport and the bow river I really like this discussion. Lots of interesting points and ideas guys, thanks for posting and sharing. MMMM, brain candy!
  4. Pretty nerdy but also pretty clever. Good work Pete. Haha, great response though Taco.
  5. Hmm interesting, another experience I will have to try some day. Thanks.
  6. Ha-ha I was skunked on Sunday. I only had two hours though and started off nymphing. I saw the occasional rise but took a bit before the frequency justified switching to drys. Once I did though I managed to try 4 flies and the guy beside me had tried a couple as well with no success. I also am looking forward to the responses.
  7. Amazing pics. Thanks for posting those sturgeon are very impressive, are they pretty good fighters?
  8. Haha Rick as I figure you are the one taking all the risk it is only fair that trout buys the beer.
  9. Really cool, thanks for sharing.
  10. Looks like a good trip, thanks for posting the pics.
  11. Awesome fish, thanks for posting.
  12. Oh we got a battle going, NW vs. SE
  13. Awesome pics, thanks for posting.
  14. Thanks for posting bcube and Billiam for looking it up. I sort of expected it to be that but I wasn't sure.

    Quick Question!

Interesting read. Isn't the pink around the gill plates more typical of a cut throat or can that also be so colorful on a rainbow?
  16. Ha-ha and the only snow we get is right at -5 C and light and fluffy and nice.
  17. You should try working in downtown Pipestone, it is pretty rough. All the walking collisions between males all gawking/staring at the females in their summer plummage. You get to see the emergence of the homo-creepius or homo-starius from hiberantion.
  18. Agreed that looks like such a great city... I want to move there.
  19. Yeah they look like a pretty mean little buggers.
  20. Hello everyone being a fishing forum I really felt that everyone would get a laugh out of this guy's writing style with respect to the Mantis Shrimp. http://theoatmeal.com/comics/mantis_shrimp The rest of his site is also very funny for those moments you can't be on the river. Enjoy.
  21. Haha hex nut on a string depth sounder.
  22. If you are thinking Fish creek park I am assuming the west side although there is good fishing to be had on each side. If you come in on the west side though I personally like to walk south as there are a few good spots that way. As it is your first time out this could also be nice if you are right handed. The reason I say this is you can cast parallel to the bank which will give you lots of room behind without fear of snagging. Although any spot with lots of open room behind you will be fine for casting practice and there are plenty of open areas. Just remember to be patient and make sure to watch your line especially if you are going with 2 flies. On your backcast make sure to give it lots of time for the line to straighten out or else you will spend all day untying your flies. Another thing, keep an eye on your line while casting, if you do tangle on yourself and catch it early then you can usually fix it quickly, if you don't notice it and you have a big mess of stuff you are just best to cut it and setup your rig again. I like to take a zip loc bag with me to hold the line when I do that as I try to keep the river clean. Also if you find you are having some issues with 2 flies I personally found just casting one fly to be easier and a little more forgiving so don't be afraid to give that a shot if your patience is wearing thin. Also I did notice some fish rising last weekend so keep your eyes open. I am not sure I would recommend switching to a dry fly at this point as they were rising pretty randomly but it would be a good indication of where fish are at least. Hope this helps.
