  1. YES! Your Frontiersman spray is 0.857% Capsaicin which is the active ingredient that burns and irritates skin and eyes. OCS which stands for Oleoresin Capsicum Spray is 10% Oleoresin and Capsaicin along with other Capsaicinoids, If you are familiar with the Scoville heat scale it has a rating of 500,000 SHU Cheers,
  2. I went thru OCS which is police pepper spray training and that was the worst day of my life. You get sprayed directly in the eyes. What we used was Johnsons baby shampoo and dabbed or patted not rubbed onto the face and submerse in tubs of water. Then they tell you to open your eyes with your hands and stand faceing the wind while getting misted by spray bottles occasionally to stop the burning sensation. You go blind for a bit and your whole face swells up, it took me about 25min to recover which is fast as the average for our group was about 45min. They say it gets better the second time you go thru it, I dont want to find out again. You also have to be careful in the shower as you dont want to wash that stuff onto your man parts for obvious reasons. Makes you a lot more aware of the weapons you carry on your belt. Id say you had it easy Taco, but it is a humbling experience. Cheers, and dont piss of the police or any peace officer that carries them
  3. looks like they were chasing emergers to the surface. you stripping a streamer? Cool video, fun to watch.
  4. Cant see the need or understand why people enjoy ripping up and down a heavily fish river like the bow disrupting and ruining others quiet enjoyment of the river. Like already stated jet boats arent needed on easy to access places like the bow. With the increased number of people floating the river in the last few years it is impossible for jet boats to not have a negative impact on their experience no matter how they are used. I have never encountered a courteous jet boater, yet from the sounds of it jet boats no matter how they are used are disruptive and cause wakes. Do jet boaters even fish from these or do they just zip up and down the river all day trying to be annoying. I say Extend the ban!!! Troutfisher01
  5. Classic example of what happens when you feed wildlife.... :derby racer:
  6. Here is a video, hope you will accept that as evidence too. at 1:37 Cheers.
  7. I have the Chrome Korkers too, great boot, very durable, nice racheting system, and the interchangeable soles have come in handy in a variety of stream bottoms. Its a good buy, a bit pricey, but should last a while. Cheers,
  8. Unreal places, and great photography. Lots of memories there. Thanks for posting.
  9. First off: did you try changing your tippet size at all, when you are fishing flat waters with lots of fish that have seen leaders and flies all summer they may have been leader shy considering this is a small stream that sees quite a few anglers. Second the strike indicator does not keep your flies off bottom it is only meant to tell you when a fish takes your fly not suspend them in the water collum like a float, as they are supposed to drift naturally tumbling with the current. If the nymph's you are fishing are getting caught on the bottom, consider not using split shot (if you were) and bead headed ones with extra weight or multiple fly rigs. Also downsizing you flies in winter is not a bad idea either. Other than that if you were getting drag free floats which is crucial, you may have been causing too much of a wake with your presentation or wading or putting the leader on top of the trout, instead off to the side. All things considered if this is your first time fly fishing it isn't uncommon to go home empty handed, especially on a stream like the North Raven. It could also have been an off day activity wise for the trout, did you see any actively feeding or rising? Try and tag along with a more experienced angler form the board or a mentor who can teach you. Cheers, and dont get discouraged it takes practice and patience to get better at fly-fishing.
  10. Those are some incredible ways to kill yourself, but quite amazing the stuff people do. Not for the faint of heart. Some crazy cinematography too. Cheers,
  11. The one i bought this spring from MEC says on the packaging "do not keep launcher loaded", so i haven't been. The only reason i bought one of these is to scare a bear away that i come a pawn that is a a distance and is showing interested or is approaching me, so i figure i should have time to screw one of those cartridges into the launcher. I still carry bear spray and large buck knife on my hip for any surprise close encounters. The most important thing all these items bring me when im fishing or hiking on my own is confidence/peace of mind even though i know thats kinda false. At least im able to step out the door every time and think to myself im safe and keep fishing. Cheers,
  12. Deff seems to be more common this year on the bow, i have caught 5 fish this year with similar growths. Also caught a brown that kinda had a second mouth forming bellow his other, really nasty. Sorry dont have the answer to your question tho.
  13. Ya thats what I do when the waters lower, just wade out around the posts. Its sick to think that people in the flyfishing community would be so non caring and destroy a fence just for access. I dont see how tearing down the fence in that section would even help much, as there is a bit of a wet ditch on the other side and then a large side channel you need waders no matter what.
  14. I see the same thing too often below Bearspaw Dam when i go for a walk. These people are fishing with bait and in a closed season not sure about keeping any fish or if they have a licence but i have call the RAP line several times on them. Have'nt found out if justice was served tho. Just keep your eyes open for these abusers of our waterways and call it in!! Cheers,
  15. About a year ago, someone attempted to break into my car while i was fishing at Southland. The lock was totally gone, but my door was still locked and everything was still there. From then on i keep my stuff out of plain view in the trunk and keep a club on the wheel. The repair cost me $300 dollars. Seams like this stuff is on the rise. Sorry about your loss, i feel for you, and hopefully you can get out on the river soon again.
  16. Ok, so ive changed my mind, the fear of upsetting the fish gods has gotten to me. The net stays the way it is, fishy smell and all. Ill just have to wait till it starts to fall apart until I get a new rubber net. The fish gods gave me a fright last year after i just bought the net. I was fishing the Livingstone and had just released a nice cutt, not realizing i had left the net to float downriver until i had hooked another fish. Luckily i noticed someone fishing below me and recognized him as my neighbor camping next to me, so i stopped by his campsite and was re-leaved to hear he picked it up when he saw it floating down to him. Now i keep it on a zinger and a clip on my vest so it is always secured to me even while landing a fish. Thanks for the responses everyone,
  17. Thanks for the responses guys ill give them a shot.
  18. Hey, does anyone have any tips on how to clean a smelly fishing net. It is made of wood and fine black mesh, it is only a little over a year old but seams to have accumulated the smell of the many species i have caught. The worst seaming to be whitefish and suckers. Thanks all, Troutfisher01
  19. Try squirrel fishing.........
  20. Id say thats un-fishable water!! haha
  21. Not to correct you or anything but as far as i know and i could be wrong, i have never seen or heard of Green Drakes on that stretch of river. They are well know on the upper bow in Banff and Canmore, but for some reason arnt found downstream. Troutfisher01
  22. Met someone panning for gold on Dutch creek right at the Oldman this summer. Not sure if he was successful or not, but he had quite the operation going. Is it even legal to pan for gold in a place like that? Cheers.
  23. Look at the size of boat they are trying to launch on the anyway, im mean come on!! Big toys and no brains.
