  1. 1970 3/4 ton camper special... Miles per gallon? Maybe gallons per mile would be a better measure. Going over to BC to drop it off as my dad wants the engine (400 small block) and transmission for his truck. If he doesn't want it, I will start it up and throw a brick on the gas peddle and in to the fraser river she goes ... was much cheaper to drive when it had the original straight 6 in it but pretty slow with the camper on it... oh well, as they say, horse power is happyness. Jon
  2. Yep, like some people said, its only 20 bucks... fish anywhere else in the world, and its 20 bucks or more a day... not that I like paying to fish, but I don't mind when the fishing is good. That being said, if it really bugs you, just get your license online and put your self as a BC resident. Not like you need a passport or ID to go fishing, just a fishing license.
  3. I think places with an ocean tend to get bigger trout (steelhead and seatrout)... When I was in norway I saw a photo of a 22kg brown, that had to be a sea run. Out on the west coast, you can catch cutties in the salt water near the creeks and rivers, but those don't tend to get as big as rainbows or browns that spend time in the ocean. Send a letter to you MP asking for a canal to be dug across BC so we get access to the ocean, and I bet we would be getting some nice big trout up here.
  4. I would be interested, good practice for sure... J5
  5. Nice story. Since this is my thread, you will have to PM me detailed information of how to get there...
  6. How about a 1970 chev 3/4 pickup... For u I make a good deal. with 6.6 liters under the hood, you can make it to the crow and back with only 1.5 tanks... haha. Seriously, if you want it come and get it.
  7. I am no expert, but I don't like using an indicator... I would rather lick 9 volt batteries with my eyeball than cast a nymph rig all day. But, nymphing is often the best way to catch fish (like in the winter). So you could learn to nymph with out an indicator, and its a lot easier to cast, but a bit harder to tell when you have a take. Works pretty good I think. As for lessons... eh... I am a poooooor pooooor student... I would rather spend my money on beer. Jon
  8. Neat! I never woulda thunk it. Anyways, speaking of the Wigwam, (and others out there)... how does the fishing out there compare to Alberta? Is it worth the extra gas and fees?
  9. Got down south yesterday on a creek whose name I can't remember... Anyways cuttie fishing was not so good with not nearly as many as I have had in the past... But the fun part was that we found rising bulls! Got 3 landed and a few more busted off... They were taking march browns as far as I could tell, and got a couple on a stonefly dry. Oh and these were not babies either... 24, 23 and 19 inches landed Is it unusual to see bulls rising? Is it a seasonal thing? Cheers, JZ
  10. I wasn't there, so i don't know, but I think pepper spay is a better alternative in general... but again, I wasn't there, and if some douche bag pulled a knife on me well I would be ok with tazerring the sh!t out of him. On a lighter note, can I get one of those tazer things in canada? Incase one of the neighborhood hoodlums pisses on my grass?
  11. Thanks for the feedback, I will be sure to keep this in mind in the future. Cheers, Jonny
  12. Sockeye bite in clear water... Seen it with my own 2 eyes. BTW, nice pics dude!
  13. little hijack here : I don't think a 5wt is adequate for pinks unless your in the ocean, and even then probably not... Definately not enough for chum ever. I used to use my 6/7 wt for pinks, and that was OK. I hooked the odd chum or chinook with it, and that was a losing battle every time. Not good for the fish, not good for the gear. Get at least an 8wt, maybe a 9wt and you will be good for all but the biggest salmon. Where you heading? J
  14. Howdy fishers, I am curious to know what the rules are for getting down to the confluence from rg rd 280-whatcha-ma-call-it. Is it OK to cross the ranch there or should I stick to that road allowance and walk on the highwater mark? Anyone ever talked to the land owner, or is it word of mouth ect ect? Seems to be a good trail there, and I have used it... just want to know. Thanks, Jon
  15. Country pleasures, just like the sound of that Been here for years and years.
  16. Thats funny, I always figured with all the cows out there, the bears would be unwelcome by the ranchers... Thanks for the headsup.

    Picture's

Monday during the thunder storm... We just got to the confluence before the storm, and I got this photo JUST as it hit... The colours were amazing out there.
  18. I think the biggest issue anyone would have with it is the skin wearing down off their finger from stripping it in... That could be a serious problem if your out every day for 12 hours, otherwise, I think its a good idea for casual fishing.
  19. Maybe not, but I have heard from a very good source, that there are a few small trout in it, and I have personally seen a few rising fish (but don't know what they were).. if you look past the garbage that pigs throw in there it looks like a brown trout stream, but it seems to get pretty low in the summer. Would be a nice creek to rehabilitate I think, with some riparian work and some pumps and some fines to the golf courses dumping fertilizer in there. Could be a nice place to fish if it were looked after.
  20. Anyone know where the "reports" sections have gone? Seems I can't access them any more. Signed, A very confused fisher.

    Bait Fish

Ever try using knot-sense instead? I use it at work for building up little manifolds. works SOOOOO well cause I can get the right size and shape by twirling it, then flip on a uv light, and its hard in a couple of seconds. Might work for minnows too. Jon
  22. I like the old school yellow or green rain jackets with a hood... with a set of waders you are pretty much water proof except for the wrists... but I guess it doesn't rain so much here so you could probably get away with goretex or something.
  23. Beautie, just wanted to get some feedback too. Later doodes, and leave those corkies at home!
  24. Well, I am back, and the fishing was a bit harder than I expected as most everything was closed or in runoff... But I did get some lake fishing in for cruising brookies, and that was great fun catching small but beautiful fishies.... Anyhows, anyone have some favorites areound the windermere area as I will be there for a triathelon in a few months and would like to give it another shot. Catch y'all. Jon
  25. Hi fishers, I am heading to BC for a few days, and thought I might try my luck on the other side of the hill... I will be making a tour from castle mountain junction, golden, then radium then back home (3 days). Anyone have a nice place to reccommend some fishing? I will be a support vehicle for a bunch of bike riders, so I will have to be near the road, but I figure I will have 2-3 hours to fish every day. Cheers, J to the izzo
