  5. Wow all say she definitely takes some nice pictures. Smoking brown too Steve must have been a great fight on the 2 weight. Good on ya for taking the neighbor's son out. Great shot of you and Becca
  6. I think what your paying for is the fact that there alot lighter and still have the strength and power to compete against any rod out there. Heres some shootouts from one of the best fly fisherman in the world. You will see there about as unbiased as you can get. Visit My Website Sorry couldnt seem to link it without that coming up, but its George Andersons website.
  7. Your right top line rods dont go on sale. I was going to wait till the fall for some rod sales than pick up a few Z-AXIS, but was told they wouldnt be on sale only the old models. Now I bought my 2 Z's becauase I can and because I wanted to. I know theres alot of great rods out there for half the price or less but I didnt want one of them and i didnt want to wait 2 or 3 more years for a Z-AXIS. Only 4 piece Z's are 830$ the 2 piece is alot cheaper. Picked mine up for 679$ each which was a good deal. I was looking at the Orvis Helio's line of rods because my wife needed a light rod. She's petite and her arm gets tired fast But at 960$ a rod it was a little much. I think we should just be happy that theres good rods out there for all budgets.

    July Pics.

Looks like you guys had a great month, thanks for sharing. Love the railroad tracks shot.
  13. Why the rage on sage. Welcome to the free world everything we buy is a rip off. I dont want to know what it cost to produce anything cause I have a feeling the answer will just piss me off.
  14. Thanks alot Mike I was quite content to walk past any rack of rods over 200$ before you let me play with your Z. All the places I phoned in calgary where pretty much the same price for the 4 piece at 830$
  15. We drank, jumped of cliffs and did other stupid things. We used to do it in the same spots that my parents and grandparents did. Don't sh&% where you walk is kinda how we looked at it. Now you can't even go down into those spots because people have disrespected the property and/or the owner to the point where they have closed off public access to them. One thing we didn't do was disrespect our elders or the environment. Talking to a group of young adults in that situation years ago, would have probably worked, but now I don't risk it. Society has changed to the point where you error on the side of caution because you can't predict the outcome (possibility of knifes, guns, getting pounded on by all of them) plays in the back of my mind. It is tough being that age and I know that there are lots of great kids out there, but the ones that can be "punk, snot nosed pricks" have made the option of talking to them not an obvious choice. A friend of mine was pounded to death in a parking lot by 3 young gentlemen. So I guess I am a little more cautious now, times have changed when it comes to looking out for your own safety.
  16. Well I can tell you as someone who has always cheaped out on my rods. I just purchased 2 Z-AXIS rods and its absoluley the best money Iv'e spent by far. I dont really care what it cost them to make it. To me the rods where worth every penny Its like having a magic wand in your hand compared to my cheap stuff .
  17. Ya I know theres good and bad kids , personally I wouldn't be calling them kids if there old enough to drive there. And a dont wave my finger at anyone if people are doing stuff around me I dont like I clear out fast. I dont waste my breath on people like that, there already old enough to know better and nothing I say is going to change that.
  18. Sorry to hear about your grandfather Jeremie. Some great shots there looks like a blast. I hook some pretty nice walleye on the Red Deer river with the fly rod when am chasing browns.
  19. If they got busted than they must of deserved it. You honestly think us older people forget what it was like to be young. We sure didnt need someone to come clean up after us to teach us what was right and wrong.
  20. We where doing the same thing when I was a younster. we use to party at a few different spots on the Red Deer river. Big parties too 100 people couple times a week Funny thing is you could go out there the next day and there was no garbage and bottles all over. If you busted a bottle on the ground on purpose you would get a beating for it. We kept it clean and respected the land and river. The cops knew we partied there, they never bothered us. Now you cant even get down there they blocked off any access. Yup as far as am concerned the little pukes got off lucky because in my day we would have slapped the *hit out of them and run them out of the spot.
  21. I use Daiichi and mustad , all my hooks have barbs which I pinch and file off before tying.
  22. Just bought a Rio gold and a Rio Windcutter 2 I've always used cortland 444, So far am loving the Rio lines, definitetly float better and have alot less memory. I cant really compare the performance of the two as the Rio's went straight on the 2 Sage Z-Axis 590's I bought for the wife and me. Never used the cortlands on anything but cheap rods.
  23. That is a pretty brown , nice looking crick too.
