  1. I don't know...I've been packing away the pellets all summer. My extra bulktatude would certainly allow me to take some line. The lake fish are doing well eating chironomids and scuds...oh ya and all those perch I forgot rainbows evolved with perch.
  2. Check out Scadden pontoons here... http://www.northforkoutdoors.com/ High quality and highly recommended
  3. Don, it's a Remington 870...not Winchester. A gun for all occasions.
  4. SupremeLeader, I was not pointing a finger at you, rather our society in general. I'm as big an energy pig as the next guy. I know a guy who has never owned a vehicle (bicycles only), built his own own solar/wind powered house that is not connected to natural gas, and grows most of his food. His footprint is pretty small compared to mine. He's making an effort to decrease energy consumption/environmental degradation. Maybe he is on a more sustainable road than most of us.
  5. Entertaining thread. Couple of thoughts on the hijack... Everyone raises interesting thoughts. We are a society that voraciously uses/wastes energy. Until there is a shift in our energy appetite there will be continued environmental degradation. Many of us don't like what we see (or ignore what we see) and are quick to voice an opinion. However, from what I see, there is very few people who are serious enough to make major sacrifices to their energy sucking lifestyle. If you don't walk the talk it is hard to take you too seriously. Doing the "right" thing often isn't good for the bottom line. If you think the morals/ethics in the bio-medical research community are significantly better that the energy research community, I believe you could be mislead. People in both areas are just doing jobs and trying to keep that job for next year. Massaging data is an art form that has become much more widespread in the past 10 years.
  6. beauty I hear carp fight well...what was your experience? I have seen some huge ones but never fished for them
  7. Fish like me...I handle quite a few...my fishing buds started calling me a monger (rarely any bonked/fewer sold). We have been exercising fish together for over 20 years now. We thought about a team name "Mongers R US". My friend used to have this button on his vest... "No autographs please". He believes he is the Captain. Things just haven't been the same since he lost his button though
  8. Watched a salmon show the other day that said they could jump 15+ feet.
  9. It's my opinion that when there is ample information and pictures in the regulations that ignorance is not a good enough excuse. It is easy enough to do a little research prior to fishing in a new/unknown area. I have to do it when I go to a new province or state to fish. I don't think it is too much to ask. In addition there has been evidence of people targeting these bulls as they begin to group up prior to spawning. It is a matter of respecting the resource. Respect in general seems to be in a little bit of short supply these days. Is it acceptable to shoot a mule deer with a whitetail deer tag because you have not learned the difference?
  10. Poaching has been very hard on this population. Hopefully there is enough left to count.
  11. I just use a piece of 6lb Maxima at the end of a piece of 12lb Maxima for a leader. It has been known to work and is very hard to break off. For flies under #16 you could try some smaller mono.
  12. Hope you have another great year. Glad to hear the AGFT saltwater version is still producing. Congrats on another poon.
  13. Wasa is east of Kimberley
  14. Nice fish! Did you see any rainbows in that Cutty lake?
  15. Good show. Did you catch any on dries?
  16. You could try something like this: RS 2 emerger http://home.att.net/~ferenc/Tie-rs22.htm
  17. Tess is 4. She can't wait for September to get some more feathers in her mouth. Does Dave "help" you land fish?
  18. Good to see the addiction is progressing nicely. The WW is a nice rod to cast. I'm sure you'll like it.
  19. So...for a relatively new fly fisher....how many rods to you own now ?
  20. Nice shots. I like your Cutt pointer Mine points Browns
  21. The amount of oxygen in the water as it gets over 20C/70F is vastly reduced. Therefore the fish have a hard time respiring at warm temps. Add a fight at the end of a fly rod and it gets difficult for them to "catch their breath". Above 25C it might be time to give the fish a break.
  22. Great action shots!. Love the "gull displacement"...great light
  23. Perhaps it's in the middle of feather molt and can't fly
  24. Well done. Looks like a great week full of awesome memories.
  25. Those cheap Saggy rods keep breaking all over the place . That's why I like my Berkley Cherrywood from Canadian tire. It cost less that your replacement tips
