  1. Is the freezer full?
  2. Most stocked Cutt lakes get fish that originated from Job lake
  3. We are getting far too efficient as a species at killing stuff
  4. Guy must have put in at Police. Ducks sure got a wake up. Looks like this... He was driving up on the ice and breaking lots of shelves. Be careful when wading because after he leaves there are a ton of ice bergs floating down

  6. Darn redfish kept me from having a sound sleep. Those eats are so awesome
  7. There is a survey to take https://talkaep.alberta.ca/fisheries-engagement I think a spring and fall closure below Beaspaw and Carsland dams is still a good thing to decrease stress during the spawn. Folks should be able to do a little reading in the regulations book. There has always been complaints that things are just too tough to figure out.
  8. Check out "Strip" as well by the same guys for GT action
  9. Not sure WD resistant stock eggs are available commercially at this time
  10. Heard talk today that any lakes stocked with fish that came from a source with a positive test for WD may not be stocked again for 20+ years. Community lakes and private ponds may be fishless once the existing fish die off. I guess the thinking is to limit transmission of WD around the province. Considering the vast number of vectors available I'm not sure the measure has any real value. If WD is already present in the major watersheds, what is being protected? The wild fish are already exposed and will have to adapt to the "new" threat
  11. Buddy has had issues with Mirage reels allowing line to slip out around the spool while fishing. It has happened on a few models. Tolerances must not be tight enough. Other than that, he likes them. Perhaps they are upgrading the model and getting rid of old stock Orvis guide waders are pretty decent waders.
  12. That would be so satisfying! Those eats are ridiculous Merry Christmas to you and your family BA
  13. an exercise in frustration me thinks
  14. All Blackfeet Rez lakes closed to water traffic until investigation completed http://www.cutbankpioneerpress.com/cut_bank_pioneer_press/sports/article_e586c50e-ab90-11e6-8fe6-0b5b4960f954.html

  16. I wonder if they will do the the Oldman/Liv and then the Castle . Migrating fish will have taken it up the Highwood all ready Fernie guys will be excited if they look in the Elk I imagine
  17. Samples are coming in. Also in the Elbow. http://www.inspection.gc.ca/animals/aquatic-animals/diseases/reportable/whirling-disease/alberta-2016/eng/1473443992952/1473443993551 I wonder how long it has been here? Some talk of doing a DNA analysis to find an origin. Perhaps a student will take up this project
  18. Careful...I think it is classified as an addiction....you can't just go once
  19. No worries Pipes. It is a good topic to discuss. Finding solutions to keep most people happy and that make sense beyond emotion is challenging. Sheep populations seem to be under quite a bit of stress. Hopefully a long term management plan can be created/implemented that allows them to thrive
  20. I never said we need to cull wolves to make hunting easier. The only cull going on is for the caribou, other than that I believe there is a general season for wolves to keep numbers around 4000 or so. I don't plan on ever doing any predator hunts. I think it is great we have some apex predators around. The wolves are incredibly good at doing their job. I'm not sure I've heard of any ungulate populations getting out of control (except Suffield) that need to be lowered by predation. It seems hard winters tend to knock back populations pretty well. Agricultural concerns of crop predation by elk seems to get handled by late season cow elk hunting
  21. Man's disruption of the environment for resource extraction has huge consequences. Unfortunately, we can't just leave the animals to figure it out after the mess we've made. Man is not going to stop taking trees and stuff out of the ground. Not pretty, but it is what it is. Wildlife management is a very complicated issue. The caribou won't make it without some help now that man has made it easier for the wolves. Not trying to be selectively greedy Brent, but the prey species need some help when the systems are so far from where they should be.
