  1. Good for you Dekkard I'll swing into one of the stores to sign up
  2. I've never had an issue with a bear they've always given me and I them a wide berth. I carry either bear spray or in real tight bear areas a small 12gauge. (haven't had to carry since fishing coastal streams during salmon spawning). Cougars scare me, my dad and a hunting partner had a close call with one last year. My dad's hunting buddy spun and shot a cougar as it was jumoing at them from the bush. I think for cougars the best bet is a dog. I'm not a dog guy, I actually dislike dogs, but I fish with the Humblefisherman a lot and having Maple Turdlington watching your back is very comforting. I personally believe bears key into to bear bells just as they do a gun shot, so i never wear one.
  3. That's cool I've seen entomologists do this with plastics but gold is pretty good
  4. only one thing to say about at, "welcome to reality." unsolicited actions are the corner stone of sales, no getting around it
  5. Saw one this weekend myself, dont forget to keep you meat wrapped tight....... I find that's a pretty good rule for mainy situations
  6. Why do you care about the texts? they don't charge you to recieve them and to delete them it has to be quicker then calling in
  7. That's wicked you got to check burbot off your species list congrats, I hope to feel one of those slimy things one day.
  8. No it doesn't, it's a joke. RAP is a way to pacify us by showing the SRD is "doing something" about the problems of poaching. The money used for the system should be used to put more feet on the ground, not pay people to answer reports just to throw them in the garbage. I called them twice last week to report the same dudes chucking bait on 2 seperate times both times my call wasn't returned; fish were killed and the offenders walked out with their garbage bags of brown trouts, you're doing wonders for the resource RAP. I have called 4 times this season where the offenders were caught; I was called back each time saying I would be given a reward...... months have gone by and I'm still waiting, I was going to happily donate the cash to Stream Watch If the SRD is going to advertise the RAP program the way they are they need to get their heads out of their asses and actually follow through with the program's mandate. NOTE I think the COs are doing a great job while being hobbled by cutbacks, they have my out most grattitude.
  9. I'm fishing the highwood on june 14 and 15 just to get a jump on you suckas na probably going to head to some lakes tight lines all
  10. Get it shipped USPS, that way it slips right thru, no brokerage needed
  11. Not a very good deal seeing FT sells them for the same price
  12. I have been using mainy of the Rio lines this spring on my Z-Axis 6100. I do a lot of single handed spey casts myself. While the Steelhead line will work great for spey casts I think the best line that will still present dry adequately would be the Gold. I would really second guess up weighting the rod, they don't require a up weigting to load the rod; I can let you feel the difference of a 7 and 6 wt lines on a Z-Axis. You'll will considerably slow the rod down. But to each his own there are many that think you must over weight a fast action rod.
  13. If you want to try it out let me now we can hook up on the water. I think going for a slightly longer rod is the ticket. Some rods over 7 have enough back bone to turn over small nymph rigs and an indy. As well as you may want to be able to roll cast and mend with ease, there may be times that a longer rod is desired. I have fished the TFO 2wt 6'6" or 7' side by side with a Sage TXL 2710. The TFO was an effort to get out past 30' where as the TXL can bust out 60'+ casts. There are some large beaver ponds out there. If you are leaning towards the Sage I don't think you'll be disappointed, you may feel it's to much rod for you and others have said a great rod won't make you a better caster. I disagree a high end rod *MAY* show you abilities in presentation and line control that you never thought possible with lower end sticks. Above all else get out there and cast them and again if you'd like let me know we can get together and let you fish a Sage TXL.

  15. Perhaps find a Bare retailer;Bare has been making ladies waders since 92, they may not catalogue the item but their customs aren't overly expensive
  16. If you want to use a larger worm and not brain fish, start using a Diachi swimming nymph hook. Fish Tales and Wholesale carries them, because it is a very long hook with a small gape you will find fish don't get brained or eyed. I went to that hook exclusively 2 seasons ago for my worms and still haven't had a fish brained/eyed yet.
  17. Jer, I used to use this on bare aluminum bike frames http://www.autosol.com/
  18. Great fish man, wish I had someone to snap pics for me today. The wind did come up didn't it
  19. In my opinion it's more of fall/spring jacket, I have worn one and wouldn't want to carry it in the summer in a pack due to the volume it takes up. Plus it would be warm, really warm. I had a client in the boat on friday wearing one when that storm came in and he got wet, just like most softshells after a few months of wear. I just received a new softshell on monday myself but I won't rely on it to be water proof. I purchased one of these this winter http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_detail....D=1272477313523 and I think it's ideal it packs up to the size of a coke can and fits comfortably over my soft shell.
