  1. Anyone know how to get a hold TU's Bow River chapter? I have tried emailing the link provided by TU but it comes back as "no user found." Thanks
  2. Take a shop vac or a compressor fill the leg with air, put leg in tub.... where the air comes out that's your leak..... so simple
  3. my wife and I have been testing these signs this week and typically double the # and add half, that's when you'll get there
  4. I watched that last night as well, nasty little buggers..... 4 days he waited with that fish clawing it's way up to his bladder.... and people say wet wading the Bow is gross
  5. you just let the chain drag on the bottom of the river?
  6. The 99s are 9'9" 90% of my fishing is done with either a 4100 or 6100 Z-axis, both 10' rods. I have a 99 and have used it. The 10's benefits far outway the extra foot in the bush, actually it's really a none concern to me it's only 11% longer then a 9. plus packed it is only 3"s longer then a 9. If you want to easily be able to make bombs, high stick, "sit in a float tube" or single hand spey the 10' really has it's benefits. 163 days of my fishing this year were spent in the bush, with 10's
  7. So does the boot's material, laces, neoprene booty, gravel guards, and waders...... marketing by boot companies to get you to buy another pair of boots is working. When all the biologists that work on our watersheds stop buying felt so will I
  8. If you are looking for a nymph/streamer rod why not a Sage99? The 99's are purposely designed for opening up your loops to make nymphing and heavy streamer casts easier. the TCXs aren't the most forgiving rod and are designed for distance casting
  9. I couldn't agree more with you, but so should license fees and hows that going. If a guides association gets traction in Alberta those that have $$$$$$ to be made will win out not the casual angler or the uneducated. Sorry
  10. 3. Guides operate on crown land (forestry and parks) and make money on a public resource (Charging from $300-$600 per person per trip). Fishing is also a consumptive use of the resource. Do guides have to pay access fees, royalties, or anything of the sort? They make a lot of money from a public resource and should contribute to the maintenance of that resource. That's a pretty big stretch isn't it? I understand that "a lot" is relative but at the extreme high end, if a guide does 100 days x$600 = $60,000 in my books that's a far cry from "a lot" of money. I would be surprised if after expenses to see if guides are making more then $50,000 and we haven't factored in taxes. I think there are a lot more "fish to fry" out there for the govt..... like handymen/carpenters.
  11. Well that's not cool........... I really wish there were some viable alternatives to the governing body. but are you sure you want to push for guides being licensed/regulated again, you do understand the power you want to put in the hands of the guides then right? Skeena Water Management sound familar? Anyone have a contact at ONE LESS DAM?
  12. Probably because they are junk, I have never got more then 8 months out of a pair of Korkers, I actually went through 2 pairs of the Streamborns from august 09 unitl july 10. I don't have enough fingers to count my friends that will never use them again. We were hiking out of a big trip this summer and 2 seperate pairs of Korkers fell apart. One friend was right in front of me with a pair of korkers that were 10 days old and the complete lower came off hiking out, you could see his waders. At one time Korkers were good but the quality of their product has gone to junk. I think my complaints may with bigger footed boots as my buddies with girl feet have had better success with Korkers. On top of that once you change up the soles they WILL NOT stay in ever again. Which is no biggy if you are a bow angler but if you need to cross logs, climb rock faces or hike out of the canyons having an unstable sole is worse then no shoes. I've never been so disappointed with a "guide quality" fishing product as I have been by the Korkers.
  13. Nice pigs, that crow fish has some wicked looking colouring
  14. I don't really give "years fishing" as much credit as "days on water" I would rather fish with and learn from an angler that has only fished 5 years with 200 days a year then an angler that has fished 40 years averaging 20 days a year.
  15. Nice pics Ayr, let me know when you come down for some hard water action ::ice fish::
  16. A first edition Golden Prince.
  17. Does any one know how many reels hardy numbered when they produced a first edition of a reel. Is there a site with these answers?
  18. Pretty impressive to see, as a guy who grew up in BC and seen the salmon many times this year was incredible
  19. Humble spent a good portion of the year fishing rather then editing, and there is tonnes of footage from this season; tonnes of footage. Each minute has to be viewed, then rejected or accepted. Pretty much a time intensive process.
  20. that's exactly what I was trying to do... bravo fishfreak you made me laugh on a not much to laugh about day, thank you and it's not a whole bunch of 30+ bull trout, just enough to fill the smoker
  21. isn't a dozen fish a dozen fish? regardless of poacher vs C&R with 400 fish x 3% mortality so it's not the resource but the law that has been broken that is the issue? is there a stirring the pot emoticon ............. Yes
  22. Fantasy hockey??? don't you edmonton fans already have a hockey thread..... get it fantasy.... edmonton.....hockey..... haha
  23. just to stir the pot. Does he? who is doing more harm to the resource? -the guy that goes in fishes with his kids all day and kills 3 fish for dinner? -the guy that goes in c&rs 400 fish in a day........3% mortality rate?
