Good flick, it really gives you the idea that fly fishing films are headed into new uncharted waters of bigger budgets and professional levels of cinematography. I was stunned with the shots of the camera crane.... I guess your buddy following you with a handycam just doesn't cut it any more we're on the virtual cusp of a major improvement in fishing/outdoors media. Drew you're lucky, no iceshelfs to commit suiced on eh? Are you lucky enough to take your dog?

done and done....sheesh

Worms On The Bow P.s This May Suck!
Jayhad replied to flyfishy's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
i like the diaachii 1770 swimming nymph hook, the bend of the hook really makes it look like it's in movement. i don't think i've eyeballed a fish on that hook since i started using it for worms. -
Oh you'll get the invites.... wont be until june though I'm a little tied up until then and the boat is upside down in the garage.

OK GOOD NEWS, and thank you everyone for your assistance. It was not CFD that put up the gate it was a contractor working on the condos. 311 busted thier butts and got Parks Alberta involved. Apparently Parks takes care of these types of issues, Parks had the gate removed yesterday I drove by it this morning and noticed it was gone. Minutes ago I recieved a call from Parks explaining that the contractor has been reported and will be fined for blocking access to a public green space. As well Parks was very unhappy that this had happened especially with the opening of the new Harvey Passage this spring (nice piece of info) and Ron, the area head for Calgary gave me his # and said it could be published. If you see the gate up call Ron @ 403.537.7571 Thanks everyone, it's nice to get something done

2 dozen please, the cheque is in the mail

I'm not overly concerned about the parking aspect, I often do not park there. Put up some no parking signs and ticket violators, I just want to see access to the boat launch not restricted.
-
No problem, I figured if we could get a ton of people calling this could be reversed, there wasn't much that I have done... more appropiately I should be thanking all of you, I drift the city section more than anyone I know. THANKS FOR THE HELP FFC, KEEP IT GOING

There is another gate, that is just a cable right on the corner of Blackfoot and that is the gate I am concerned about the one blocking the condo parking lot is just another access point. I don't think this arguement really holds water for me because CFD uses the downtown launch and that is where most rafters have been taking out for ever.

Awesome, my Council member sent me a response stating access to rivers is handled via provincial channels and not a City of Calgary issue
-
Sweet thanks BiggyJ the more noise we make the more results we see. This is a world famous destination not having a boat launch between Shouldice park and Glenmore is retarded
-
Hey everyone, Some of you may know that there has been a gate put across the 17thAve/Blackfoot boat launch access point. For those drifting from bearspaw down this is the only take out between the city centre and glenmore trail, this would be a very long drift. This also limits those that like a quick evening drift or a longer drift to 22X. This boat launch is public, that has been and can be confirmed by calling 311. Plus with the upcoming opening of Harvey passage you would think a boat launch close down stream would be a benefit. This is an issue for all of us anglers not just drift boat owners, if access to the Bow river can be just denied with no public consult we open a potential can of worms with other access points. 311 has confirmed that the gate wasn't put in place by the Fire Dept or by the City, there have been a few complaints but this is pretty low on the suits priority list. I ask that everyone that cares call 311 and complain and then contact your council person http://www.calgary.ca/General/Pages/Calgar...ty-Council.aspx thanks

RIO indy taper.. 64' head makes for excellent single hand spey and is unrivalled in its ability to make massive mends work.
-
Yes, It's a serious canon, a little heavier in the hand than Z's and Ones but it tracks super well, doesnt feel akward and really chucks a Rio gold well. the price is super sweat for a lifetime warranty rod.

Duder, is it possible you have worn thread grooves into the thread tube? Not supposed to with the Stonfo, but I guess it could happen or perhaps there is an imperfection in the tube. Does it happen with all threads, could it be the thread? To test for thread grooves or other imperfections in the thread tube; put bobbin threader into bobbin put a peice of cotton ball in a bobbin threader pull it through hold up to the light to see if any cotton has snagged inside if you don have a bobbin thread use some fine copper wire doubled over, and if you have no cotton try dubbing I have given up on all my bobbins since I started using the nor-vise bobbin.

I will say this Fly Fusion has stepped up the content considerably in the last few issues, I feel their photos are the best in a fishing rag and even rival NatGeo. I can only imagine how hard it is to run a sucessful fishing magazine, print media and the advertising behind it has tanked since the dawn of DSLRs. But this new mag that is starting to really pick up steam here and internationally was started by a Canadian family operating in our backyard. The family that runs the mag does so much more than most people see for our sport.

That's awesome.... thanks I love wolves

Ya I saw that guy gill f*cking those bullies as well, I was going to say something but that forum is a step 40 years in the past and you can't fix stupid
-
Good question, I asked this once of a CO and he stated it really depends on the interaction between you and the CO. To the letter of the law you aren't fishing but if a CO sees you practising on a closed water his first impression is you are fishing. If you had no flys on and had none with you it would probably defuse the situation quickly, BUT why not avoid the hassle and just practice on legal water.
