7ft 3x leader with 2-3 section of 4x-6.5x tippet. I'll go as heavy as I can and go lighter until I find a combination that works with the bug and the fish... certain types of water require different tippets... fast=4x frogwater=7x. Just generalizations, every run / fish is different.

The fish are always feeding on something. They will just turn to what is most abundant / easiest to chow... if your seeing lots of adult midges along the shoreline, chances are there is gunna double that in larvae and pupae sub-surface. Subsurface midge patterns are good throughout the winter months in a variety of colours that match the naturals. You can even try throwing on a griffiths gnat into you nymphing set up. Getting to now the Bow can be tricky, changes everyday, it's all about finding out what is working that day and differs from location to location. Fish aren't always gunna be super deep and super slow this time o' year. If it is a warmer afternoon... trying fishing a little faster water with less depth as the trouts metabolism will increase with increased water temps.

Depends on what your fishing. Boatman patterns ahead or behind a clouser can be productive in the fall. However, creating another hinge point in set up can make casing more difficult.

I've spent quite a few days in the mountains with friends and by myself. I've seen scat on a bunch of occasion as well as digs, tree scratches, and scat... The only bear i've seen while fishing was at about 75 yards. He/she stood up, had a few sniffs at the air, saw me, and a simply walked back into the bush. I'm scared of em, but simple precautions like many that have been listed above, will keep ya safe. Not our area, but some good information. I went from a Loop CLW to an Evotec and weight difference proved to be very beneficial to my casting. The heavier reel provides almost a pivot point on the foward stroke... Like most things fly fishing though, it's all personal preference.

Well, this is pretty new to me...Wanna start getting into tying more "classics." What are the advantages / disadvantages to the blind eye (technique?) Were blind eye hooks the original way of tying flies? I've read that it allows for a better swim in the water, but I can't really picture the difference between a blind eye and standard hook swinging along? Thoughts?

I like to stitch any tears with 10lbs maxima and then load on the aqua seal on both sides. Duct tape flat while liquid so you get a nice smooth surface. Can never seem to keep a pair of waders leak free...

Deer hair and other materials can get mites. Can you visibly see any critters on it? Throw it in an air type ziplock if it isn't already stop the spread. I've never had the problem but have heard of people bagging and throwing materials in the freezer to kill em.
