  1. How do ya do it then? Fill all of us in, mighty wise one.
  2. Im sure somebody uses a 3wt for salt water situations... all big fish gotta start out small right. I can't think of a disadvantage of having a sealed drag in reels even if they are only used in freshwater. You seem to right into the discussion dude, I agree that a disc drag is probably not needed on a three weight, but why not have it anyways?
  3. I like the beauty of the fish, the places that they live, and the good people you chill with on the bank. I like not having that last beer or shot o' Jack on a Friday night because i know i'm getting up early to go trick animals. I like the weird face people make when I tell em i'm a 20 year old fly fishermen I like when the person behind me in class pulls a big fat pink marabou feather of my shoulder at school. I like rapala chuckers telling me to tie on a SJW. I like walking in the middle of no where with nothing really to do. I like sunshine, snow, rain, sleet, but I f%$^k'n hate wind. I like tying up and trying out new fly's I like when your cast is on and is sooooo easy. I like finding new spots I like being outside. I like climbing down 15 foot ice shelves I like fishing in the spring, summer, fall, winter, day, and night. I straight up like all things that are fly fishing.
  4. That is really cool man, keep it up.
  5. Pretty sure the FC gates are open till 8 now. double check
  6. Some dogs need a hefty kick in the arse, and some people just shouldn't have dogs. Sorry about the capes dude...
  7. One of those days on a new piece of water, wet and grey. Walked from about 9 30 in the morning till about 6 in the evening... Some of the best days i can recall on the river don't necessarily include fish but rather those cool fall days full o' color
  8. I fish a Beulah 11'6 6/7 but i think i would enjoy something in the five weight range... Next time ya see a dude on the river with a spey ask him what he is fishing and to give it a shot.
  9. Fish will for sure chow harder on bait fish imitations like spoons or streamers in the summer time. They just don't have to expend as much energy in the warmer water to catch their dins. However, I find that most of my success with streamer patterns in the winter just depends on how slow you can get the drift and the retrieve. In my mind, the slower the better! Size differentiation between streamer flies and lures is probably the same(never fished spinning gear). Bigger the lure, bigger the fish, but maybe less fish. Smaller lure, smaller the fish, but more of em. Biggest fish i've caught on the bow with the smallest fly in my box. Its all about what they are chowin on that specific day. Maybe it will be 10 minnows or 150 midge's. There was a dope article written by Rickr on the main page about nymphing and water structure, all these articles are good stuff: http://flyfishcalgary.com/articles.php
  10. I always think hook pointed up and barbells on the bottom side of the fly, like max said, the fly wont snag as much when fished right on the bottom.
  11. A handful isn't a lot, but enough to have confidence that my fly isn't going to explode due to a quick change of direction in the cast Tie em the way ya tie em, but i have a hard time believing that a q-tip would shatter.
  12. Yeah three cones if im not mistaken, kinda replaces the need for dubbing balls to hold materials up...
  13. They look pretty slick! its all about how they look in the water. Pain in the arse to cast?
  14. You must have one hell of a snap t... I've fished them a handful of times and never ran into any problems. But I can definetly agree with the doc, proper tubes would be best
  15. q-tips and bic ball point pens
  16. Crowsnest, those photos are epic, Like that boat shot
  17. Badger, thats a really sweet pic and looks like a beauty brown!
  18. Lets see some intruder style fly's ya use on the bow. Thread: Flat waxed nylon red Shank: 25mm wadington Hook: Gamagatsu #2 Eyes: Yellow real eyes Dubbing ball: White ice dub, olive at the head Hackle: White saddle Body: White and olive craft fur, shrimp marabou, olive and natural polar bear, green ostrich, pearl dna.
  19. Dude quit giving away all the prime white fish water.... Dont know if this is true but i was reading somewhere that white fish will generally sit higher up in the run in the winter because they are a native species that has a higher metabolism/ better adaptation to the cooler water temps? So if ya start getting in whites, move up or down the run. Anyone verify?
  20. Any tug ya get on the end of your line is a good tug....
  21. Brad wont reveal the video because it will reveal his actual advances on the customer....
