  1. The 2499 has a huge gape,so you'd think it would help.I think the gape is bigger then the hook length on 18's.If that makes any sence.
  2. I guess i should add that I've only fished(tested) the 18's.My first experience was cronie fishing in deep water, lots of bites and only landed a few. Also on the Bow nymphing, same result.Nice hooks but fish don't stay on. I did a comparison one day on the Bow, fish were hitting little green so i had one of each. The barbed hook with it squished down out fished the barbless clearly.I also made sure the barbed one passed the barbless test. Maybe its the large gap or the point and the bump has nothing to do with it i don't no.
  3. Geez its like you've done this before. Hook to land about 25% ,thats generous. I now use 2488H and crimp the barb down.
  4. Same here.I find a bottle of Crown helps.
  5. http://flyfishcalgary.com/board/index.php?...p;hl=worm+hooks All sizes but i use 6-8 mostly.
  6. Congrats on the show Mike, really enjoyed it and thanks for the link.
  7. You could use a pair of vise grips, clamp the hook and the wire together in the pliers then spin the wire around using a bobbin. When finished use the pliers or another set to smooth out the tag ends.
  8. Maybe utc 70, its for small stuff i think.Like jdangler said get some 6/0 and 8/0 and you'll be fine.A good bobbin will also help.
  9. Can he not claim this on his insurance? If not car then home should cover it no?
  10. Patio umbrella in the boat,I sure get some weired looks. But i like shade.
  11. Cortland 444 clear camo.I think its 5 years old and still casts nice.
  12. I bought some clear floating line a few years ago from England. Monic i think it was called, came out of the box like a phone cord and broke the coating on it in 2 weeks.I ended up chopping it up into different length tips.
  13. I thought more people would have it set tighter,I guess I'm not the only one.Like others i like the control of the brake with my little finger rubbing on the reel, loose at the beginning and getting tighter as the fight goes on.I would think it would also help protect lighter tippets and less chance of a fish jumping out of the water on hook up and spitting the hook.
  14. Kewl, Thanks.
  15. Nice work as always Steve, glad to see the oak put to good use. I have a job 4 ya,on the front of my boat where the anchor comes out i have a metal bracket with sharp edges that holds the pulley.I want to cover it with wood its about 6" by 4" it would be cool to have a head of a brown burned into it.I won't make the cover until spring so lots of time.
  16. LOL! what he said Welcome back dude.
  17. I can only comment on WFN as I've never had Telus tv.Most shows will show somthing new or new to me each week and then replay it for a week. The commercials are terrible but if you have a PVR you can skip them. So you get lots of re-runs and lots of Bass stuff but for the most part the shows i like i don't mind watching them a few times anyway. I don't think I'll ever get sick of watching April catch big rainbows at Forest lake.

  19. Well there went my idea out the window, back to the bench. On the plus side i now have some biot stones in my box. Nice tie,PGK.
  20. OK I'm in, looks like i don't have to work.I'll bring the hot sauce for the eggs. If weather is nice anybody interested in wetting a line afterwords?Or does everybody go to the show?
  21. Happy birthday and tight grouping.
  22. I was wondering what people like to have there reels set at. I have my disc drag reels set on the soft side, tight enough that it doesn't back lash when i pull line out,no tighter then that.I guess years of having cheaper reels with little or no adjustment I've gotten use to using my finger rubbing against the reel as a brake. What say you?
  23. I'm working all day Sat.So i'll spend it all on Sun.
  24. Please do,I'm a damsel fanatic.
