  1. That seems like an odd stance. How do kids and a dog affect the comforable living of d.i.n.k.s in the suburbs? Do kids playing in the yard disturb you in some manner? Do kids and dogs affect your quality of living? I would love to hear how. I am not offended really but I just found that to be a really odd thing to say.
  2. I have the W10 and it does the same thing. I try not to zoom if I am taking any video.
  3. I don't think it is a bad thing either. As long as they require a deposit and charge you for a no show then it should be fine. Something like that should stop people from reserving a bunch of spots and picking the best and leaving the others reserved but not used. I would like the opportunity to reserve online so that I don't have to scramble to find a spot after hours of driving.
  4. Does that mean no campfire stories at Racehorse this summer?? Recession doesn't affect me too much being that my company deals with governments and the military and so projects may get delayed but fortunately (or unfortunately depending on your point of view) money is still put aside for military spending. I think what it does do is provide a wake-up call and make me more aware of what I am spending money on. For the price of gas, groceries and campground fees we can still have a heck of a weekend though.
  5. I know what you mean. I had an online gift card for Amazon and had been saving it for a rainy day. Then I read this thread and boom, pressed the button.
  6. Bob, Two years ago I took my Pentax W10 to Costa Rica and fried it somehow. Was really dissappointing as I was getting really cool pictures and video while snorkeling. Then it crapped out. Anyways, I took it to Alta Camera Service Centre on 10th ave SW and got the the main PC board replaced in about a week. This was done under the manufacturer's warranty. My wife has also taken a camera there to get fixed and was happy with the service. Without knowing any other camera repair shops, I was really satisfied with their work and would recommend them. Good luck.
  7. Thanks to this thread I just ordered it through Amazon. I have been struggling a bit trying to learn this art so I hope this helps me out.
  8. I also bought an XPS laptop and am really happy with it. Had an issue with the integrated webacam but thanks to their top-notch service I got in fixed in record time. I will likely continue to use Dell in the future.
  9. I agree. I think it was a smart location to put a fly shop just based on the projected fisherman traffic with respect to Policeman's Flats. I personally would unlikely drive there just to shop based on where I live. But if I was hitting the Bow in that area and need some flies than I would drop in there.
  10. As always Hiketofish, beautiful pictures!
  11. My wife and I have been using the same Orvis rods since we started ~5 years ago and have not had one issue to date.
  12. Great post! Love to hear that you shared in our little piece of heaven. Your appreciation to that fact shows class. Good on you to all that helped make his trip a memorable success.
  13. Thanks Red, much appreciated. For some reason I was shying away from the big companies based on the assumption they would be that much more expensive. Interesting about the boxes though, that is the next issue. Thanks again.
  14. We have just recently sold our house and bought a new one and will be moving in a month. Instead of breaking the backs of my buddies I figured I would get a moving company to move our stuff. We will be doing the packing and moving most of the delicate stuff and the movers will be doing the majority of the furniture and boxes. I am looking for recommendations for local companies that you have had good experiences with. If you care to tell me about a bad experience those are welcome as well. Perhaps a PM would be better to not publically slag anyone but that is up to you. Thanks in advance, Chris
  15. Lynn, I am so sorry to hear this. Jessie was an amazing dog. We too had the pleasure of meeting this wonderful dog and will always have fond memories of the great dog races around Racehorse. We hope to camp there again around the beginning of July and will stop by to pay our respects to that sapling in memory of that wonderful pup. Leah and I (and Sophie) wish you and your family the best.
  16. I have an Orvis Clearwater 5-weight and the wife has a 4-weight. Both have been used for about the last 4 years and have had absolutely no issues with them. Looking to upgrade soon but it no hurry because I have no issues with this one.
  17. There is a good lake trout fishing north of PA. I spent a lot of time fishing Whelan Bay, Little Bear and East Trout lake when I was younger. There is also good Eyes and Pike fishing in areas like LaRonge. Mostly lake fishing from what I can remember but then I was strictly bait and metal chucking then. We are trying to get back to Whelan Bay this summer for old times sake. Monster lakers in there!
  18. Tim's needs to invest some time in coming up with a cup that doesn't leach the paper flavour into the coffee. I can't stand it. I would rather pay the extra money and buy from Starbucks everytime. By the way, I see a lot of guys mentioning putting sugar and cream in their coffee...tsk.tsk. That does nothing but ruin it...pretenders.
  19. I too bought one from Memory Express. It wasn't custom except that I upgraded the RAM and video card myself. It has been rock solid for 3 years now and I run a fair bit of apps on it. My wife actually likes doing here Photoshop work on it more then her Mac at work.
  20. I too have been really impressed with the level of help and friendliness on this board. I was not a member before the other board went offline so I can't speak about how it used to be. I do think that this one has improved because of what happened to the other board. None of us want to see that happen here and want to keep this great resource going and so I do really think there has been a direct effort by members to maintain what this board stands for and not waste each others time with nonsense. Good on you mods and members.
  21. Glad to hear that the new venue has gotten a pretty good review. We could only do one show this weekend and chose the RV Show instead. Got a helluva good price on a add-a-room for our trailer. Need to have a protected place for the little one to hang out this summer. Hopefully next year..or at least the sportsman and boat show.
