For years my grandfather raised game birds in Grassy Lake (For those that live down there they know where I am talking about) and I still have alot of his contacts and have been buying feathers and what not off them and was just recently told that alot of the big wig clothing designers out of New York and Los Angels are asking to buy the stock for the next 6 years (it takes roughly 3 years to grow a cape) so if you think this is going away you can think again cause if the fashion designers are willing to pay for stock 6 years in advance they are projecting this so called fad to last for a while.

I belive there was some changes to the graphite that was used (Using the new kennitic graphite) which makes the rod lighter and more enjoyable to cast. So there is a huge change (Always is when there is a change in the graphitie) to the rod, but of course there is some branding in it, what company would not re-brand something when it starts to go stale in sales. I also belive the only companies using this new technology is Hardy, Sage and Loomis.

I guess it is all a matter of perspective cause I really enjoyed reading the artical and found it to be AWSOME and did not pick it apart but took it for what it is.

I know some people are going to throw garbage and rotten tomatoes at me but I absoultly love mustad hooks. I have tied thousands of flies and I have never had a issuse with the hook, even the ones that I tie for my friends never have I had them come back and say anything to me.
-
I have also bought the clets that Silver Docter talks about in his blog and tried them out the other night and found them to be absoultly amazing.

I guess it all depends on when the artical was actually written, might of been at that time and then the artical was publish at a later date when capes became hard to find.

If you haven't seen it yet check out the new Fly Fusion magaizine and there is a artical in it that is titled WHO NEEDS HACKLE. Awsome artical by Jermey Davis (Inventor the the Evil wevil) and he shares some of his dry fly patterns that he uses foam instead of hackle, cool drake pattern in it.

I completely agree with you on this, but some of the eltitist and puriest think using a SJW is no better then a Rappela, to me it really doesn;t matter what the fly is as long as its profile, and presentation is what the trout wants. I even fish light chenneal worms under hoppers. Anyways that is just my opion and others may disagree with me on this but whatever, I don't tell others how to fish I just like to share what I have found to work for me, and if there is a better way thats cool, just explain why to me so I can understand myself, I really hate people that say *hit with absoultly no explanation its almost like they feel I have to bow down and worship them.

Wildlife Refuge Below Glenmore

Just rationlizing this but if the area has contamined soil then why posion our willife, or worse allow it to leech into the little cannel then flow into the bow. Once again I could very well be wrong on this. -

I could be wrong but I was told that at one time there was the old army barracks there and there is still some old munutions (sp?) on the land. Either way its private property and I would not transpress. -
I was out on the river a couple of days ago with toolman and we were sitting there enjoying the day when all of a sudden we saw two plastic oars come floating down the river, then we saw a empty plastic raft come floating down the river, thinking someone might be in trouble we looked up river to see this guy pulling himself out of the river, the sad thing was he was still holding onto his plastic bag full of beer. I just had to shake my head, these drunken fools are the ones that get killed. I don't mind a beer while out on the water, but really people drinking so much they get drunk and fall out of the boat and face with the realization that they could die, espically with the river so high and so fast, just takes you getting you leg caught in a rock and then you are underwater.

I agree with this statement totally. I know a few people that have Jetboats and they are very curtious to others on the river. The problem is that we like to sterotype people all the time and if you have a bad experince with one jetboat then they all are the same which is not the case. I use to be a jetboat hater on the boards till I went out with a very curtious jetboater and found that all the hate should of been directed at a few people but instead got directed to everyone. I have seen the fire department boat on the river racing up and down the river causing wakes for the last five years now, and they do not have any lights or sirens, should they? Unforntantly like everything in life there are those who care and those who do not.

I think PGK problem is not with the rod itself, I think it is just the type of action that he does not like. I like fast tip recoveries but a mid flex rod. I have casted a couple of the bvk's with streamers that have a ton of lead wrapped on it, and it did take me a couple of casts before I got the hang of it, had to adjust my casting in order to cast it. Needless to say I would not be buying one for myself as it is not suited towards my casting likes.

I would also add the following flies. 1. Stone Fly Nymph and Dry 2. Copper Johns (Brassies are a varation but I would do Copper John before Brassies) 3. Midges nymphs and Dry 4. Prince nymphs 5. Bow Buggers (Leeches) 6. Clousers 7. Muddlers That is all I can think of right now while I am at work.

I think that fly will diffently work, infact you have given me some new ideas for worms. BTW, you never know if something is going to work or not unless you try.

So on Sunday morning me and FNG went out to look for some rising fish, not seeing much we decieded that we would do some hopper dropper fishing and do some prospecting, we were roughly about 50 yards apart and what do you know two yahoo's come down and place themselves right inbetween us. No hello no nothing, we could of got angry but since the fishin was slow we decieded not to say anything (we really didn't want our day to be ruin but a couple of classless idoits) and moved to a diffrent spot. I would of expected this out of some spin guys as with my experince with spin guys they usally sit in one spot and do not move, which I always leap frog ahead of them and smile and ask how their day is going. However these guys had fly rods in their hands and I was just kind of surprised as I have never had this happen to me before with Fly Fishers. Taking the lead from Harps, I decieded that I was going to work on something like he suggested, anyone that wants to help me out is more then welcomed.

Why Do People Feel Like They Have To Argue?
bhurt replied to bhurt's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
I fully understand where you are coming from but I honestly do want to find a solution for their problem and I much rather have them leave happy then mad, adding fuel to the fire just isn't me, Im a professional at what I do and what people to feel like they are not getting ripped off or sold the wrong thing. -

THE BOW RIVER -
I've worked in the retail industry for almost 20 years now and the one thing that always amazes me is that when I am unable to help out a customer (Don't carry a item) they feel the need to tell me I am wrong and do not know my job. Its probably the one thing that annoys me the most and people wonder why sometimes they get bad service, itas not from me cause I always look for a solution for the customer but some people just want to arguye I guess. I had one yahoo today tell me that I did not know my job and I was an idoit for sending him to another store (company), and that I should call around, pay for it and then resell it to him at my store, really???? When I told him I could not do that he then told me that the customer is always right and that he would be writing a letter to our head office explaining in detail how I would not order an item for him that we did not carry and resell it to him, really does he expect to get me in trouble? Its gonna be one of those days I can just see it now.
