Over Night Trip Of The Bow Early May.

When was runoff last year? My favorite time of year! biggest fishy's! -
Why don't we just start a new thread for the Summer. Unlike the "Get togethers" section, make it specifically for sharing rides so us guys with Pontoons can float on a regular basis. I know that i never once floated the Bow because i was to cheap to pay for a shuttle and my wife doesn't get amused when i ask her for a pickup Maybe call it "Pontoon Floats and Rides" Good way to meet people on the board, share some info, and save some much needed $$$$$. Just an Idea.

As a general Rule, the best method to fish lakes within a few hours drive of Calgary is to 1) Try a few different coloured/ sizes of Chronomids using an indicator thats about 8-12 feet (depends on depth) above the flies and just cast it out and let it sit until it moves.. or add a few twitches or slow retrieves. You can try this method with different nymph's/ flies. 2) you can fish a leech or streamer with a floating line and 15 ft of leader without an indicator, and try different striping methods ( but this works well in a float tube the best.... just kick).. Or do a bit of both, with different flies. 3) Fish a dry fly when fish are rising (usually Cutthroat) , and just let it sit there.... this one is pretty self explanatory. The top flies in trout lakes (depends on lake) are probably Chronies and leeches, but that my opinion. A good lake to practice on that is close to Calgary would be Wedge pond out in K-country, it has grayling and chronies work well. Plus you can cast from shore pretty easy. But like they said above, look up Bullshead posts, they will help a lot. Good Luck, Drew

I was bored on the net and found a game called Flysim. It's pretty sweet for killing the time and its some what realistic. I've just tried the free demo so far, but i'm gonna see if I can get the "Full" version. Anyone ever played it? Seems pretty cool.

Seems like another "tool" to add to the toolbox, although I already have a whole bunch of Dangley things coming off me.... WHEN DOES IT STOP! but the real question is: do I want it to stop??? hmmmmm

How Many Fly Boxes Do You Carry?
acurrie replied to Fishscape's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
I carry 2 mostly: one that is a Mix of everything and a streamer/ stone's box which i Rarely use (but will try and use more). And when summer hits I'll carry a box of dries, especially on the cutty streams -

I bought an Acer 2 years ago for $499 at Best Buy, and its been great.. no issues. It's fast and has bunch of ram and 80 Gig HD, Big Video card and windows Vista/ MS office. If you wanna budget Laptop can't beat Acer. But if your willing to spend the big bucks (Over $1000) you can get a bit more performance and reliability. But in my opinion, if your not a huge Gamer or tech geek then the budget buy is where it's at. Gaming Laptops can run into the 4-5000 range.

Diabetes, Your Input Required, Please
acurrie replied to Saltamontes's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
It depends on a couple things, the first of course is what type of diabetes? Is it Diabetes Insipidus or Mellitus? They are both different and require different levels of treatment. Here is a link to Wikipedia explaining the differences (in the first 3 paragraphs) Diabetes Insipidus . My opinion is that you need more blood chemistry testing and a urinalysis... at least. I would also go for a second opinion.. as that can never be a bad idea. My Father is the Western Regional Manager for Medtronic Minimed, which specializes in the education and sales of Insulin Pumps. IF you want his contact info or anything like that just shoot me a PM. (he can probably put you in contact with some people who are "experts" in the field of Diabetes) -

I like the vest/ chest pack combo. Good for long and short days on the water. I use this LL bean pack, its great cause it has a lumbar support for the long days and a hydration bladder. But on the short days i take out the bladder and it weighs nothing. link: Rapid River Pack

Towing Weight For Mazda B-4000
acurrie replied to bigalcal's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
Well, you could purchase a tent trailer and then just cover it with a rain tarp so the sun won't dmg it. Or........ you could purchase a Aliner trailer, all the convenience of a tent trailer but the protection of a hard shell trailer. See pic: They weight like 1500lbs and are about 15' long. If you went this route, you could at least tow it different locations if you want -
not from my own personal experience but i would also say Maxwell. I think he knows what the hell he's doing (just search his pic's in the photo post section and you will see).

I think Iggy will whip Olli into shape, If Olli becomes a Cancer in the room Regher, Iggy and Phaneuf will straighten him out. Leopold is an OK addition, but i don't think hes the "puck moving defensemen" Calgary thinks he is. -

Lombardi has world class speed but has hands made of stone. He is a little like Oleg Sapriken (wrong spelling), but is a bit better defensively. -
