  1. No, I got the drop from my sink cut-out that I'm gonna use as a cutting board. Missy is scared to ruin the top from water and day to day kitchen stuff. Maybe It will hold up just fine, just don't want to find out the hard way.
  2. EFF Thanks for the offer, but I'm on the other side of the world, I will look into water based finishes, thou. HGH I tryed Polymized Tung Oil of a test piece, didn't like the brown tinge I got from it, looking more for a honey color, which BLO gave me. Is this Wiki Tung oil cut with varnish (google can't find it), if not the finish would be no more durable than the BLO, would it?
  3. Hey guys Just moved into what started to be a cabin, which turned into my new house. I took on the project of building a solid maple coutertop which I finished which boiled lindseed oil, overall happy with the finish I ended up with, but...............................wondering about put a more durable finsh on it.....................anyone out there with experience of using a poly or other product over BLO. I tryed a couple woodworking forums, but my question turned into a debate about is wood food safe and all other kinds of BS. Thanks
  4. That's what I did, broke off the last few inches put it in an envelope and cheaped out on the registered mail cost me two bucks.
  5. Does anyone know any shops that still might have a 5126 or a 6126 in stock. Thanks
  6. I would have to disagree with that. The amount of presure you can put on a fish with a simple thumb looped over the fighting butt is amazing let alone having that fighting but dug into you gut.
  7. If you are looking to charge batteries, depending of the generator you may have a problem. I don't know what the problem is but my generator (King Canada el cheapo much like the champion) that I bought for construction of my cabin will not charge the batteries (litumium) for my cordless tools. Do you need an invertor to charge these batteries. As for theh rating on the generator they have two, start up and continous rating the start up wattage is lower that of the continous rating for expample the one I have is a 2800/3500. Tools such as chop saws or anything with big motors turning on quickly will cause a surge and trip your breakers.
  8. Doc Those would be great as smelt/Caplin patterns for sea runs over my way.
  9. 10' wt wind warrior

  16. flag knot..........don't get any easier
  17. Whats the hackle, dyed guinea?
  18. I could use a few of those.
  19. Are your looking for a heated floor or a warm floor, they can be two different animals all together. As you already have a heating system in place, you only need a warm floor. I recently installed a 110V system under a stone tile sloor in my ensuite that I am very happy with. This was my first job with tile or a tracing heating system, so for a feller who can build a bamboo rod from scratch should have no problem with this. I choose a non return single wire system instead of a mat (wierd shape room and did not want to wait for a custom mat) you just loop the wire in glued/screwed down clips around the room and screed it in. Lay your tile on top of that as you would if it was a non heated floor. I got my stuff from home depot, trace heating cost me $300 (this depends on sq. footage.........and it get expensive fast) Theromstat with infloor sensor runs about a hundy. So for about 5 hundy I put in a warming system in a 63 sq.ft bathroom. Note that the system i put in working on floor temp and not room temp. That being said I live in a house built in 1905 with no exterior wall insulation and the original windows. I am very surprised on the room heating capability of the this system, It was been installed for a full year and I only turned the electric heat on twice all last winter...............With my floor heated to 82F the room stays at comfortable temp for the misses and three kids to shower in the dead of winter. The system draws ~500W (depends on length of wire or size of mat and is recommented to have its own 15A circuit for the 110v system and 20A for the 220v system. That being said a 15A circuit is good from ~1500W and a 20A circuit is good for 3500W. It came with a video that was very helpful, hope this helps. Make sure you check your system for continuaty and resisance before you start.
  20. On our forth year (three kids)...............and loving it.
  21. I roll mine on a Peak, works good for me. I bought the additional midge jaws and now only use them for all my flies, althou I rarly tie anthing bigger than a size 8.
  22. Wow.............and to think Dune went to BC to catch steel smaller than those.
  23. Have you looked in to a torched on roof? Not sure if you guys do that out West, bu it is the standard roofing finish on the low pitch in St. john's. It basicall a two layer roof of bitcumen/Asphalt sticky on one side that you heat up with tiger torchs and it sticks to your roof. Make sure you have a roofer with insurance as it wouldn't be the first time a house's roof has been caught fire by a roofer. The average old house around here are tall with small footprints (30X30 or smaller), Friend of mine just had his house torched on roof replaced for under 3k. Shingles are not water proof they are water sheding and not recommended on roof with less than a 4 on 12 pitch. They use to make low slope shingles but as far as I know they don't anymore. Best of luck
  24. So how many fish that size do you have to catch before you can pose for a picture and hold back the smerk.
  25. Without the dogs, you are the bait.
