Got a couple young boys (5 & 7), that I am looking to outfit in waders. I would prefer something in Neo and bootfoot, due to cost and durability. Althou they might wear them out fishing with me, they will be mostly for playing in the water catching crabs, minnows, and whatnot. I did find some from a US company wondering if anyone know of something a little closer to home. Thanks

Gravel Supplier - Suggestions
126barnes replied to LynnF's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
I'm guessing the reason they won't do it is because their trucks do not have the abilty to dump over a 6' high fence. Even "stone slingers" (conveyor type unloading) will not be able to do this. Even if they could the weight of a load of gravel would probably push you fence down. -
It won't prevent it, but Dad soaks his foot in a epsom salt bath, hot as you can stand, hes says it releaves the pain. Hope it helps for you.

How Many Flies Do You Carry?
126barnes replied to Conor's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
A Hundy or so when I fishing for Salmon, A million or so when I’m chasing trout. I'll agree on the stillwater fishing, I've added 3 more boxes of chronies, leaches & Damsels/Dragons for this summer. -
Will time has come that I'm heading back home, as my contract has expired in Calgary and a new one is set to start in St. John's. I've had great time in Alberta, fishing the Bow and Crowsnest River, with serveral perfect days spent on the water. Met some great people on the river and in fly shops during my time hear. Tryed new methods of fishing and became comfortable fishing much bigger water that I've been use to. Tryed a couple new things such as the two handed rod and tying tube flys, of which I can't wait to try home this year for the grilse run. Big thanks to "Maxwell" for getting me straighten out on my first day on the Bow, which gave me a chance to enjoy my time on the river. Folks at Fish Tales and Troutfitters have been great with all sort of advise. Thanks to "Headscan" for the two handed rod, "Dryfly" for river info and to everyone else for offers to fish with and for all the info on this board that expediated the learning curve a million fold, thanks "SJW". I think I had my final day on the Bow Satuday past, don't think I could ever top it, so why ruin what could be my final impression. I hope to be back on warmers days, to fish dry fly to big fish, and try some of those mountain streams for cutties and bulls. Untill then.............................

They knew you had cake............................I didn't mean you = BBT, althou it does seem that way rereading the b2b post.

I'm gonna get torched for this, but, how do guy figure you deserve to have a whole stream (one way)to yourself, even if you were first there. Sure If i was the second guy there and you were going up I would go the other way, but what about the next guy. At the very least a leap frog system would be the best you could hope for, or you give the run you're fishing to the new guy and head up or down stream.

I had a go with the stillwater WW 510 (EXPO)and was very impressed, I would include the WW in your test drive, you will be glad you did.

Having over stayed what was intended, I'm looking at my fly boxes, thinking I'm a little short as the weather is starting to warm. Seems like I was stocked pretty good over the winter months, with SJW, leechs, blood worms, CJ, GRHE, PT, prince & EW. I don't go all out when it come to tying, just looking for a few patterns & sizes to add for the upcoming month or two. Any ideas?

A Sad Ending To A Frustrating Trip

I had problems on the first few I spun with ultra size small. If your doing them by hand releive the tension on the wire as you spin, the twisting of wire causes the length to shorten and will break if tension is not relieved. If you're doing them with some fancy tool, maybe someone else will chime in.

With or without an equity stake the above is true(except the 60million part, you couldn't hit ocean floor for 60 million) if the project is going ahead why not force an equity stake, on whatever scale is viable. I really wouldn't know, but there is money to squeeze out of a hot dog vendor and he still can make money. He might pull out, but if there is money to be made (and it oviously is), someone will take his place, question is can you weather the storm. After all Alberta has the sh!t or get off the pot rule (fareo Sp?) fed's say Newfoundland not allowed to have that rule, might have another Alberta to deal with. Will thats just something you got to figure out before you move in. The oil companies said that could not give up 4.9% stake in Hebron when negoiation broke off and stayed off for years, I guess they reconsidered, or things changed, either way the province came out better, just delayed a bit. NL did have to pay $110 million for 4.9% of a 5 Billion investment (do the math), they wanted it for nothing when it broke off the first time. The problem with that is you are depending on the guy making all the money to tell you the truth, with a 5% vested interest, he got to show you the books (cooked books, but the books none the less), and we know how companies like to do that (wonder why the 4.9% on Hebron). Not sure if the royalities in AB is set province wide, but home they are all different by project, so it come down to this project is just barly viable so you'll need to knock down the royalies if you want it to go ahead bullsh!t. Anyways I'm not trying to argure NL vs AB oil (just using examples of what I know), just that AB could be and should be doing better. -

Kinda two in one here: No not the Venezuela model and no to nationalizing, our fed Government could never do something that would work. Currently the canadian government has a 8.5% interest in the Hibernia project on the East coast, which was pretty much bail out money for a project that wasn't going to go ahead after a partner (Murphy's I think) pulled out, or so they say. So it paid 8.5% of ~6 billion dollars ( 700mill recoverable that is now over 1.2 billion recoverable, and who know who much more other than the oil companies)and has had a nice return on their dollar. Not sure how Alberta invites oil companies into the province to look for oil, but currently Newfoundland does not collect money from oil companies to lease land (mostly water) but the highest bidder must spend that winning price of the lease auction in a exploration program in the said waters. Since the Hibernia, Terra Nova, & White rose project have come and have only increased in "expected recoverable oil" . The Newfoundland Governement has since required a equity stake in all developments stalling the Hebron project (700 mil recoveable)for years in dispute with the oil companies. Since then both sides have come together on a 4.9% equity stake on the said project and the governement has pasted Legislation that all projects and expansions to have a 10% equity stake for Nalcor (Newfoundland's energy company). Since then expansions to White Rose (just finished up working this job and is currently in production) and Hibernia South (just starting) have moved forward under these terms. So I wouldn't say "Invite companies in and then nationalize projects" & "government ownership" just get a piece of the action and not pay for the looking part. The governemnt is puting up money on projects that can't mess, not paying the lotto on punchin holes in the ground, hundred million dollar holes. Then there is still the royalites that are so complex it would make your head spin, from 5% untill payout, up 50% after pay out when oil is more than $X/b. They are also doing some small land ing drill exploration, but peanuts (20 Million, so far) compared to the offshore. But with bigger interest over 60% owner shipI think. I can't get into all the production rates, politics, taxes etc involued cus I just don't know anything about it. Just saying if it works for other countries and provinces why not Alberta, on what ever scale. Maybe Newfoundland expience into the patch might me a bad one for the government and the tax payers on these equity stakes, who know, but it looks promising, and seems to be working so far. -

My point being that they took ownership of their resource, maybe a litte too late for Alberta as she is already so dependant on Oil revenue. Its being done in this country in other provinces.
