I just thought it was a little (a lot) "overkill" and totally unecessary, that's all! <--poke--<

Darren, that may be true, but I have received (trackable) UPS packages from the States in padded envelopes before... I just thought it was a little (a lot) "overkill" and totally unecessary, that's all! P

I know there has been some talk previously on here regarding Orvis' Customer Service... Here's my recent experience... So I ordered a new spindle for my Battenkill LA (original part metal, replacement part plastic - original part in photo). Anyway, the original invoice was for over $25 (for a $3 piece - due to the CDN premium, to which I wasn't going to pay and was going to have the item sent to a friend in the States, nonetheless, I wasn't charged - which is good!)... Here's the "interesting" thing, check out the photos... Could they not have sent the part in an envelope?! Not too environmentally friendly, if you ask me?! P

Your Largest Bow River Trout/char
ÜberFly replied to bigbowtrout's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
Yes all were browns! He actually put together a cool video (and they were all caught in the winter to boot - (he called it - "When you're this BIG, they call you Mister" - come to think of it, Peter Monod saw that particular video, as well as a few others in the Bow Valley, as well as here in Cowtown [this was before FFC]),!! Believe it or not, it doesn't matter to me... P -
Your Largest Bow River Trout/char

Hey Pisan, Welcome! I've personally seen a former roommate (guided the bow out of Banff for many years) pull out 30" fish (yes plural) from the south calgary section (in and around Fish Creek)! If he didn't move back to TB I'd get him to post the photos!! P -
Thanks to those that have responded either on the tread or via PM... I guess what it boils down to is what one has actually "paid for"... Have you "paid" for a "fishing buddy" or have you "hired" someone to perform a service?! For me... I already have plenty of "fishing buddies" (and other then maybe a beer or two) I don't have to pay to fish with them!! P

I was having a conversation with another board member this afternoon and asked him, neither of us knew, but had our (similar) opinions...To preface this question, I have never been on a guided trip - either float or walk and wade, so I hope I'm not opening up a "can of worms" by asking this question... On a guided trip (either float or W & W), if it is "ok" for a guide to fish when out with clients?! P

Tiana, You'd probably get a heck of a lot more then just a boat ride for a couple cases of beer!! LoL P

Quad Crackdown Finally Coming

Filled mine out this aft and made additional comments on ensuring adequate funding for enforcement (hiring more officers) and to bring back side arms for officers! -
Quad Crackdown Finally Coming
ÜberFly replied to Neil Waugh's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
Mike, Neil doesn't have an editor to go through his posts on public forums! LoL Nice catch! P P.S. We all make mistakes writing (spelling, grammer, etc.) on public forums (myself included - and I've been nailed after pointing out other peoples mistakes). Even professionals like Neil aren't immune! -
Nice fish! Won't find any of that size around these parts! P P.S Careful around those gills (the way it looks like you are holding it with your right hand - I realize 'eyes are difficult to hold at the best of times!)!

Coffee Percolator Filters
ÜberFly replied to bigalcal's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
Have you tried London Drugs or Walmart? How fine are you grinding your coffee (or having your coffee ground)? For percs you require a really course grind!! Maybe one of the specialty kitchen type stores?! Good luck!! P -
Sorry for not posting this on the Trading Post thread, but there is a shelf life on this stuff and I wanted this post to get out ASAP! I just finished a project at my bro's house and the idiot store clerk insisted our estimate was off so sold us 28 rolls (we estimated 18). Anyway, we have 6 left over and hate to waste them. If any one is interested in the 6 rolls, let me know and I will provide the details of where you can pick them up (these must be laid at some point tomorrow!). PM me tonight with a contact phone # and I'll respond 1st thing tomorrow morning. Peter

I think they should ban them, personally... I think it has to do with manufacturing... But then again, from what I've heard, most packaged lures in BC come with singles that you are required to replace all the trebles with the one single... Can anyone in BC confirm this? P

Shuttle Service For The Red Deer?
ÜberFly replied to jdangler's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
I can't remember the name but if you search for canoe outfitters for the red deer river, there is one place along the river that has a private campsite and rents canoes and they also have a shuttle service... I hope this at least helps, somewhat... P -
Jer, There was a post last summer relating to Skoki - maybe it was just for general info on fishing - can't recall... Contact Rob (Pipestoneflyguy), he has all the inside scoop on the entire LL area!! Cool area, you should have a blast!! (Bet you'll be sucking wind on those passes though LoL) P

Dustin, Looks like a great trip... How was it solo? By the by, that's one of the reasons why I have a spare set of laces in my repair kit, but you will learn "grasshopper" !! Glad you got into a couple and they look like they are on the bigger side from what I've seen/read!! So are you glad you didn't hike in and out each day?! P P.S Nice MacGyver job on the boots (or are you too young to appreciate that comment )!!

Very cool! Congrats! P

Wedge and Quarry are both C & R (zero limit)!! Are there actually stocked Grayling lakes that are keep? P
-
Maybe up north, but the 2 places that have them down here (Wedge & Quarry) from what everyone says, they seem to be pretty difficult to catch. I've only caught 1 in Quarry last year, and I've been skunked twice at Wedge (from the bank)... But really haven't put in all that much effort... Are there any stats/studies on the pops declining?! P
-
Hey Chris! 10 years old, eh! Time to loose those "pull-ups" and start wearing "big boy underwear"!! P
-
Yeah post it!! I think the rules are in reference to "fish handling"... So if it's legal to "cull" (not sure what the regs were for where it was caught) then it shouldn't be a problem!! Lots of photos showing dead fish on here(where it's ok to do so)!! P
-
Yeah it's a pretty broad statement without any rational or further info!! P

Timber Town - Maybe? P

Really Jay, you're another one that eats wild flowers?! P
