  1. No fly shops yet, but one part-time guide (he says has everything except swift water rescue)...
  2. Why only if they are paranoid?! Would you hire a ghost cab to drive you to the airport or drive you home from the bar at night?!
  3. Yup already done that (only heard back from one), but would think legitmate guides woud like to advertise these facts... An advantage over the competition, no?! P
  4. Well, no not the actual company Rick works for, but the companies that have pipelines that leak!! P
  5. The shop would, but would the guide (many are independant and contracting through the shop, no?!)?
  6. Jay, I would also think that if a guide is guiding anglers through the city section of the Bow and doesn't require his clients to wear a life jacket/pfd and the client drowns, that the guide would be liable b/c city ordinence requires river users to wear life jackets/pfds?! And good luck collecting on any law suit if the guide doesn't have liability insurance, right.... I'm sure there are a million scenarios... P
  7. I would also think that if a guide was working through a fly shop, the shop would require it for liability (as well as reputation) reasons... But never assume, I guess!!
  8. Seriously, I'm not trying to start anything with this post, I'm just curious... *The caveat being I know there is no legislation/regulation in Alberta related to the fishing guide industry, so technically none are required... How many guides on here (independant, working through a shop [FFC sponsors or otherwise], etc.) have a business license and/or insurance, 1st aid training, swift water rescue, any or all?! Or would you even be willing to answer?! Other then asking, how does one find out?! Or is asking the only way (if so how does one confirm that they actually do)? P P.S. It will be interesting to see if I actually get any responses from any guides (other then quite possibly a few strongly worded PMs)...
  9. For anyone that's interested... http://alberta.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell-sp...QAdIdZ386370762
  10. Rick, You can also get the liners (I forget what they are called) that go in between the outside of the tube and inside of the tire to prevent thorns/rocks, etc. from puncturing your tube... They add a little weight to the over all of the tire, but you won't get a flat by that means ever again!! P P.S. Here is one particular brand, but I suspect there are several others... http://mrtuffy.com/
  11. Rob, If I send direct I always try to send it down with someone that I know is going to the States to send it through USPS. Canadapost $30+ to send from up here USPS $5 - $10 from pretty much anywhere in the States! Not a option for everyone I realize, but a good one nonetheless for future reference! P
  12. Yous pays your money, yous takes your chances!!
  13. Contact either Don Anderson the grass guru or Cdone (Colin) the rod builder extraordinaire! Should be pretty straight forward from what I understand. P
  14. We stayed at Echarts tacumseh resort(sp) before and they were decent. http://www.mountainguestranch.com/
  15. Yes I forgot A Pizza plus!! x2
  16. One word Relax! " "
  17. Yeah bike couriers are the worst they never stop at stop signs/red lights and never yield!! P
  18. From what I understand that is correct! Yeah I hate that too! At cross walks cyclists are required to dismount and walk across. Also, only people under the age of 16 are allowed to ride on the sidewalks! I hate seeing cyclists over the age of 16 on the sidewalks!! P
  19. Yeah Wayne should be a sponsor of this site!!
  20. From what I have been told... Said landowner with locked gate once allowed access but got pissed off with all the garbage and disrespect that was happening so therefore you ( and everyone else) has to drive to rr 282 to gain access. Sorry to dispell your theory! There is no conspiracy against you, hidden agenda or secret club!! P P.S. Another option is to buy a jet boat and rip up and down until you've scare and pissed off all the other anglers then you'll have all the access to that side that you want!!
  21. 10 lb - 12 lb normally. 15 lb at the top end. P
