  1. Sorry Darrin, Paul scooped you on this one!! http://flyfishcalgary.com/board/index.php?showtopic=22419&hl=
  2. Ha! I was just thinking about posting the same thing!! LoL
  3. Wow, you beat Don to it!!
  4. Got mine at Bow River Troutfitters for Saltwater fishing...
  5. Jason just use regular spin casting leaders (12") tied to 6' - 8' floro or mono. Wayyyy cheaper and super easy to switch flies. P
  6. No go with green to match the reel handle!!
  7. Of course Brent!
  8. Darrin (DHurst) is selling a beauty on the Trading post!!
  9. I had a buddy re-weld the same spot on my waterskeeter. If you catch it soon enough you can get it beefed up... P
  10. In reality we are not voting for an MLA because they have to tow the party line as we have seen for more the 40 years!! Unfortunately, we DO NOT have the representative system that you dream of. I wish we did both provincially and federally, but we don't and never will unless someone else is voted in!! There is only one party that advocates for this and unfortunately the only have 1 seat federally and won't ever be voted in provincially (as a treehugger greeny hippy I would normally vote for them, but must be strategic this time).
  11. Kyle's an idiot!! I know 1st hand as I've lived in NW Calgary (which is now Calgary Klien) for over 40 years. He has dropped the ball numerous times with his portfolio (i.e.,pretty much sold the Castle Region and West Bragg Creek to Spray Lake Sawmills and the wood is only good for fence posts and pallets ). I've asked him specific questions at events over the years and he is as dumb as a bag of hammers (of course this is just my opinion). But I commend you on reaching out and making an effort. I'd be curious if you get a response and what that response is. Please let us know. Peter
  12. What'cha think of it? Good/bad? Too big? Standing platform useful? Thanks Peter
  13. Hard question to answer as everyone learns differently and at different rates. Get out as much as you can now while the water isnt as busy nor high and fast would be my reco. Have fun.
  14. Yes Brent, I know! If nothing else (and if the peanut gallery doesn't derail it), a great discussion thread. Maybe the mods can move it on it's own...
  15. Great question Brent! I guess it depends on the motives of the guide... In my professional opinion, why not?! The way I look at it, it's a great educational/stewardship opportunity as "Interpretive info builds bridges between landscapes, people and history; reveals stories behind the scenery; and creates memorable and inspiring experiences". Is it always about catching (or is catching the bonus)? Could catching (or attempting to catch) pure strains lead to creating stewardship opportunities!? ABSOLUTELY!! Lots of guides bring clients to areas that are environmentally sensitive and/or under a lot of angling pressure such as the Castle, Lynx, Carbondale, Liv, Upper Oldman, Upper Highwood, etc. I bet most don't provide any "interpretive", stewardship or educational info... (No judgement)...
  16. Ouch! Will he be invited back? ;-)
  17. Awesome plan!
  18. I guess you need to ask yourself whether you like being down low like in a tube, or up a bit higher like in a 'toon. I prefer the latter. Plus the price point of the Watermaster is prohibitive IMHO. Great for high mtn lakes, but again wayyyy to $$ P
  19. There is Jason, You can pack in the auger!
  20. I'll be guiding a group up to Pickle Jar lakes this summer so needed to confirm the regs and I noticed that there is a discrepancy between the online regs and booklet in ES1 for Pickle Jar Lakes. Online says Trout Limit 2, booklet says Trout Limit 0. I think the booklet is correct as they have changed the regs for these lakes as they contain pure strain cutties. FYI Peter
  21. I've been so busy this winter between teaching Avalanche Skills Training (AST) courses and guiding snowshoeing trips on the weekends (then add to the fact that the snow conditions have been brutal), I hate to admit that today I finally got out for some skiing So a couple buddies and I decided to head into Katherine Lake in BNP to earn our turns. Wow what an amazing day. Still a lot of snow left and the snow pack was super stable. Boy am I out of shape (hence me being at the back taking all the photos)! Either way, I was able to mark the trail on my GPS so that I can get up there to fish this summer! Enjoy (vicariously)! Looking back at the Ice fields Parkway Heading on up to the ridge Looking back down the up track The final push Finally! Back for more A look back at Katherine Lake
