  1. the scadden boat bags are water resistant, i want to use those bags so i can keep them geared up ready to go and use them with either boat. however they might be not be water proof enough to mounted on top of the pontoon of the zebec,i will keep that in mind if my bags dont work out. Tungsten do you have a pic of that metzelr bag ? or pics of your boat how it was set up ? ugh just now there was a force 15 hp on kijiji for 350$ it looked good buddy said it ran good. he had his address in the add and no phone number i found his number from another add of his. so i figured i would call him, i said i am leaving now, be there soon. i got my boots on and my phone rings its buddy he says its sold a guy showed up iat his door with cash in hand. ugh that sucked but oh well
  2. i got a good deal on a new 12'6 zebec inflatable, wood floor, rated for a 25 hp. i picked it up in December so i have not used it yet nor have i ever fished out of one and i dont have a motor yet. i primarily fly fish for pike, this boat will see big lakes in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario and maybe even in bc. i will mostly be alone in this boat, i want to be organized in it, and i dont want stuff bouncing all around the boat. i have a dave scadden northwest express, i would like to install brackets to make use of the lean bar with stripping basket, and the boat bags. i was thinking of some how mounting the bags on the side of the boat and having the lean bar towards the back of the boat., id like rod holders for transport and one for trolling, fish finder, small cooler bag, rain gear, patch kit, foot pump and the necessary safety gear, quick anchor rope lock (scotty). keep in mind this boat will always get deflated what have you guys done to make your boat more fishing friendly? what have you done to add more durability to your inflatable? where do you mount your rod holders? what size motors do you use? thanks for the help
  3. thanks for the input guys! i think it does affect my fishing, i have not done much fishing this past year, but i was pretty unsuccessful when i did go out. allot of my materials now have been in my apartment for 2 years. a few months is no biggie, but i think eventually enough odor sinks in. i guess ,well if this int a good excuse to quit smoking i dont know what is
  4. i am a bit concerned about odor on my flys. i am a smoker, yeah, yeah i know . i do not fish for trout as much a fish for pike and i only tie my own pike flys. i know pike are pretty aggressive and not too picky, but i believe when targeting big pike and slow pike they do become picky about what they eat. i heard that cigarrete odor on fly's and lures can turn fish off. am i ruining my hundreds of dollars of tying material by smoking in my home ? does anyone de-odor flys, is that possible ? thanks guys
  5. here my fishing rig my beast of a suburban i can keep my zodiac, pontoon boat, gear and everything else and still sleep in it ! oh and its great in traffic ! but she a bit on a gasoholic with the 454
  6. personally i think the risk is too great not to do it properly. i would go to auto marine and have them patch it, i cant see it costing too much. Brian at auto marine is very good at what he does
  7. gota add my 2 cents here i have the scadden northwest express, i love it but i am not sure its for everyone probably wasnt for me but i do love it. its a hand made boat and assembles like one and mine is big its 11 ft long, its big and its big when broken down too, i have the large boat bag that dave sells and its hard to pack the whole boat in there and i would not be comfortable loading it as baggage on a flight beacuse you are packing the pontoons and all the steel in one bag. it takes me an hour to get it set up with the the standing plat form and rear deck theres a lot of cam straps to put on and accessories, i also use a 5 hp gas motor on mine that adds to the set up time. its great drives nice and straight even in 2 ft waves. i only use mine for lakes and have never owned or used a different pontoon that this one
  8. i do allot of pike fishing out of my pontoon boat, i use a cheap canyon creek (i think) it was 20 or 30? at Canadian tire, the handle is 40 inches and you can get a 40 inch fish in the net if you get it head first. i find its a quick way to land a fish pike get very tired and its important to landed them quickly better be careful here, it is trout net but they only go in head first and they do not end up folded in half
  9. anyone use car type gps? like, maggellan, tomtom, garmin, lowrance ..... i am looking at getting one, more for finding lakes and off roading. who has the best canadian maps ? lake names and so on ? thanks
  10. nice i like that idea ! my boat tracks great at high speed with the gas motor but not so good going slow
  11. hey thanks guys that gave me some ideas i will be sure to post some pics with what i come up with. can anyone recommend any fish finders to use ?
  12. yeah when i am trolling or even rowing i have used the transom mount and the strap, like tungsten mentioned the pontoons expand and contract and its hard to keep the fishing buddy plumb it always wants to rotate down. the transom mount for the buddy is not rigid enough to support it when moving through the water so i end up taking it out when trolling or traveling, with my 5hp gas motor there is no dry storage on the rear deck. what type of mount do you have for your scotty rod holder ? having the bulky plastic rubbing on my toons concerns me as there is allot more load with the gas engine
  13. just looking for ideas. i have a scadden northwest express that i use lake fishing it has a gas motor. i was using my fishing buddy but you cant travel with it in the water because the rod is has too much drag in the water any ideas ? also i cant seem to find a good way to mount rod holders
  14. i ended up at twin valley reservoir took me a few hours to put together my northwest express and get all rigged up and of course i broke another tfo rod and once i was all bundled up i couldn't start my 5 hp just because i wasnt thinking..... but oh well it was nice to get out one last time. it was cold enough my line was freezing and i had a layer of ice on my boat. haha oh yeah i got skunked
