I have and still do own and use several large Arbor reels and the pick up rate is superior but do I really need 300 feet of backing on a 5wt reel?

I haven't fished the area in thirty years and have no plans to go back in the next thirty. It's a big world and I haven't missed it at all.

I usually go one size over regular shoes size for wading boots, how did the sizing work out for you folks?

Not much for easy berries, anywhere close to a road is well known. The Saskatoon berries lower down are all over the place from green to none to ripe.

I predict the rivers will fish fine and there could be a lot of personal bests with fish being caught in places you didn't usually find them. I think when the water recedes you will see much wider, shallower and straighter rivers and streams. Most of the wood will be left high and dry as the water recedes and woody debris and undercut banks will be hard to come by for years to come. Boney areas will have survived better & get worked hard & many long slow deep wintering pools will be completely or partly filled in and some new ones will be carved, in my experience it takes the river not changing channel to create the deepest slowest ones. Finally I watched more huge quarried stone go into our water ways after 95 than I could believe, they protected bridge abutments and huge berms. In 2005 the improvements didn't seem to help and we responded with bigger berms and even more armoring and stream training and in 2013 none of the improved improvements seem to help. From the rock I have seem being hauled out of every quarry in the east slopes it looks like we will see how the 3x improvements work out. I don't have a hundred years to wait so I'll be out there having fun & we'll see you on the water.

I have one on my 7wt and I didn't think I would like it but I never really noticed it. It's my heavy equipment the last few years and I can say after a long day in the drift boat hurling indicator rigs and big streamers and after a dozen or two ridiculously big trout it helps my limp wrist syndrome fighting fish, it help me maintain sufficient leverage by tucking it against my forearm.

I don't own a gen. But from what I know the Hondas are super quiet and the yams are also reported to be good.

The pops ain't bad either.

Thanks for the input guys, I've taken a long look at what information I can find on your suggestions. I don't plan to mooch with it and I'm fortunate to have well equipped buds for my ocational trip to BC. I'm thinking all around flats/mangrove/outcropping/beach. Double reconstruction on my shoulder (still sucks) makes weight a concern so now I have almost to much info. I have to sip a couple pops and decide. One thing I can't seem to find is how much backing you can gain using spun gel.

I'm hoping someone could help me out, I purchased an IR4 in 2009 and it hasn't aged well. I've only used it for light duty dry fly fishing and not for many days, it needs new clickers and a new hardwood handle. I see several businesses listed on their website for reel repairs and I wonder if any of you had a favorite reel repair place? Thanks.

The orange / yellow ones seem to attract the most strikes. They let you know when to tie on a stimulator.
