Yep for sure, looks good, well put together. Dunno if they gained much floor space by moving to Spruce Meadows .. but one can;t argue with free parking..

checked it out today at the show .. Troutfitters booth .. they have a couple rods spooled up ready to chuck if you wanna give it a go .. I didn't get to cast it today, but I rubbed it and you can hear/feel the line passing through your fingers, it feels like some sort of rope, not flyline. Gonna be interesting when long term reviews come out I think.. as for the wear on the guides, I i think it will be harder on guides but .. you gotta lot of hours to fish with a regular line to wear out guides, most people break/replace/retire their rod long before this becomes an issue. You have to look a couple things other than the material from which the line is made also. the woven (for lack of a better word) structure is gonna leave lots of spots for very fine sand/debris to collect to effect the abrasive (not to mention buoyancy) effects of the line. And this super fast line, moving at super fast speeds, well that'll just wear you guides out faster anyway. (if your even gonna be bothered by that sort of thing) .. my 0.02 . . ah crap, I'll probably buy one anyway

I grew up in Bay d'Espoir on the south coast of Newfoundland, Aquaculture is big there, mostly "rainbow" trout .. in the spring the ice would damage some cages and thousands of fish would escape into the wild. Bay d'Espoir is home to one of the largest hydro electric developments in North America, so it makes a prime habitat for fish(ing) .. These farm fish although unable to reproduce, would eat massive amounts of food and grow to ridiculous proportions .. They get into the salmon rivers and be compete with young salmon and sea-run trout for food, and since they were use to being force feed in pens, I'd imagine they had an insatiable appetite. At first people saw it as a blessing these "monster" trout, people would travel from all over the island to have a go at them, and since they were not a native fish .. no regulations .. but as I remember after a couple years of escapes it was hard to hook into a nice sea-run brookie that were so ever popular a few years before...I don;t really know how the situation is now (my experience dates back some 12-15 years) but there were major concerns on how they would effect the rivers long-term .. I now the DFO has a program in place for tracking these fish in Newfoundland and people are to report catching one and recording info .. I believe Aquaculture bears the risk to drastically change natural fish habitat ..

Sweet Brookies Snakeman .. cut my teeth on fish like that..now I'm homesick, No mention of the infamous Northern Ontario Black Flies, so we can assume they were not to bad? .. thats all I can remember about fishing trips to Onterrible swarm and swarms of those damn black flies..

I got pulled over one time up at Dickson Dam and was asked to see my gear, when he saw the fly gear he said, If i knew you were a flyfisherman i would'nt have pulled you over, you guys tend to be alot more honest.. I think this is probably the general feeling among most CO's ..
-
4 times in the last 5 years fishing in Alberta .. & I log alot of hours fishing.. no doubt the CO's are overloaded with work, there is alot of water to cover and people fishing every inch .. the labor situation here doesn't help.

buddy obviously didn't take the razzing as playful as the rest of the guys or he would have stuck up for you/himself .. as for her .. no comment .. thats an unfortunate situation in which to be involved

Yep .. there are alot less wholesome and expensive activities to be at with the family .. I would'nt mind it one bit to see the prices raised .. (I pay +/- 100 bucks for a "non-resident" salmon license to fish back in Newfoundland) .. as long as the money gets put to use within the system .. its a good investment for everyone

just add a section as you bury one, there are holes in the earth 10 km deep .. 10.8 feet of ice shouldn't be a challenge .. cool video

if your only doing corners, and only need 45's, its only easy to make a simple box .. draw a 45 degree line on a piece of plywood and a piece of 2x4.. nail the 2x4 to the edge of the plywood lining up your lines .. cut the 2x4 on the line down to the plywood and you have a simple mitre ..

Which Is Your Favorite Rod Maker?
Brownstone replied to NormanMcLean's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
That make no sense what so ever RnB .. so you'd rather pay 40 bucks to have your Sage shipped away for weeks rather than 25 bucks for on the spot replacement? and with Sage / Orvis you still only end up with one rod????? ...so if you walk into Sage in Washington looking for a replacement, theres no fee? TFO's are not the highest perfomance rods out there, but they are decent sticks with great in town warrenty.. -
Looks pretty cool AC..

that one could catch you more than you bargain for Glen

Great camera .. takes some great pictures as you can see .. the depth of water resistance is limited to 3m because the seals are no designed to hold against a designated pressure .. I'm sure you could take it much deeper than 3 m w/o problems though .. water pressure at that depth is not much .. 9.8 kPa/m or for the Americans 0.43 psi/ft and they don;t specify between fresh or salt water either so.. I'd say the failing point of the seals is well beyond 3m .. my.0.02 .. if your heading diving, just throw it in a zipper baggie ..
