Don't need a truck. Got one. A '97 F250 diesel with Leer topper and boat loader. Set up for long term trips with trailer , wife and dog as well as solo overnighters. 17 years old and 149k km. When bought new it was gonna be last truck and think it's gonna make it. Looking for an everyday vehicle.

It's just about time to replace our 2004 Pathfinder. We going new 2015. We've eliminated many SUV models as being too big - we DON'T WANT 7 seats, I need the storage space and am not gonna pay for comfort that is NEVER going to be used. Many are too small. Some are way too pricey ans some are just not of interest. Narrowed down to another Pathfinder, Subaru Outback, and Accura RDX. Googling auto reviews is of little value as each rating agency seems to 'promote' different vehicles. How can a vehicle be in top 2 or 3 on one rating and not even show up on others?? Hmmmmmm. Any comments, reviews appreciated.

Uber: Not really a techno, but I've got topo for all western Canada, and Mapbooks AB/BC. Some differences. Haven't really used enough to really make any recommendation. Mind you I always seem to have issues with technology. Base camp is easy to get stuff to and from GPS.

"dry" Camping In An Rv-Heat Questions
angler replied to bigalcal's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
Mr Bo: Don't think solar will be a viable options where you will be, as if I recall that is mostly in the trees.Furnace sucks a LOT of power. We switch to all LED for interior lights to reserve as much as possible for fan. Get two big deep cycle batteries and a small quiet generator and you'll have all the juice you need except when there's frost on the pumpkin. We also burn a propane lantern inside at night to save battery and provide a bit of heat - appropriate ventilation of course. -

Need to replace our stove. Had a ceran top and hated it. Top broke on the weekend and repair sounds exorbitant and pi$$y with tough modifications for different top thickness, sooooooo time to shop. Both of us grew up with gas stoves and are looking at this for our replacement. Looking for pros, cons, recommendations. Gas top w/ gas oven or electric oven? Makes and models both good and to avoid? Don't want to spend a ton.

Having ACL done 2x I do have 'some' experience. Your orthopod will tell all. Count on a few days of pain. If you can, go for alografts' (bits of dead guy - tendon harvested from cadavers). Saves on a second surgery site for harvesting some of your hamstring, which is usually their 1st choice, and less to heal. Once swelling is down there will be at least 4-6 weeks of physio. A knee brace for 6 to 8 months. Full use in 9 to 12 months. I wore my brace for 2 additional winter seasons for hockey and skiing. I assume you have blown both ACL and MCL? I found the recovery from knee surgery more difficult than from hip replacement. All the best............

Draft South Saskatchewan Regional Plan
angler replied to TerryH's topic in News Discussion and Current Issues
Trailhead; where did the stat that 'a great majority of people ATV.' come from? I know it sure seems that way. From my visits to Racehorse, Oldman, Liv over the past years I 'believe' that 'everybody atv's'. I only personally know three people who even own an atv and NONE of them go 'recreational riding' - used only for hunting. They should be allowed only in designated areas. The plan states explicitly that there will be no changes to random camping. I sure as hell wish 'the rules' were effectively and meaningfully enforced. I mentioned THAT many times in my response to ASRD. The plan will be watered down a bunch more before it sees any enactment. -
A likeable 'grumpy' .. Fish on ..... RIP

Vagabond : Just people who feel that the signage does not apply to them, sort of like the 'entitlement' the senators feel

I use these in ski boots. TOASTY. Haven't tried in waders yet. Another option is toe warmers, like handwarmwers. There are also full foot warmers. Check a ski shop.

2Nd Class Power Engineers
angler replied to angler's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
Thanks What I am looking for are a number of things. Considering challenging the second class 're-certification' exam after 25 years out of the industry. ABSA has told me it is a 50 question multiple choice exam. Sounds easy but...... I have none of the required study materials any more. So what I search for is: Someone who has challenged the re-certification and can give a few hints as to types of questions. Someone who has the SAIT 2nd class materials willing to lend for 6 months. The position I am looking at requires only a 5th class but I would have to retake the whole 5th exam. ABSA is not keen on lowering ones level of qualifiaction and indicate the re-certification is easier. Thanks Don -
Any current or recent 2nd's out there?? Looking for some assistance / info. Tks

Had one. Tried it a few times ........... threw it in the river in frustration. Waste of time and money. Fingers or hemostats work just great!!!!

Grinr; but there are many ways to be supportive and work towards something WITHOUT marching on the streets and no need to fear being identified. -

I am unable to send from apple mail 4.4 (1082) The history: I have been using mail successfully for a number of years. I want to be able to access my emails from iMac, Macbook Pro, and iPhone4. Today I had my email service provider (Telus) change me over to an IMAP account from a POP account. Which essentially has shut down one and set a new account as IMAP. I have successfully set up the account with mail on the new macbook running 10.6.6 and iPhone4 for both sending and receiving. However, I am unable to send from the older iMac also running 10.6.6 which worked perfectly when set as POP. Now I can receive but cannot send. I talked to apple support to set up macbook and iPhone4. They were kind enough to also instruct me for iMac even though apple care expired a few days ago. When I was unable to send I next contacted the phone company. They spent about ½ hour trying all kinds of stuff as I watched (remote log in). In the end I was told there is an issue with 10.6.6. I explained this appeared not to be the case as the macbook using 10.6.6 works but iMac with 10.6.6 and exactly the same setting doesn’t. Telus reiterated the troublw is with IOS 10.6.6 And the iMac is the most critical of the three. So, now what can I try???? Any ideas???

Need to get a new piece of foam for the overnighters I'm planning. Used to get it at places like Ribtor. Called Campers Village and $150 is too steep for a 30X75 (uncovered) IMO. Labbe bedding want more but covered. Is there no such thing as a $50 bit of foam. Am I showing my age yet??
