Heavy Snowfall Warning
angler replied to cheeler's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
should be at least 25cm of 'freshies' at Sunshine - piled about 15cm on a car that just came from the parking lot. Wooooooooooooooo Hooooooooooooo Pow!!!!!! Boy I love spring - go fishing one day and skiing the next...................... -
Been tracking flows since '98. Run off starts sometime between May 12 and 25 depending on a heat wave of 2 or 3 days of 22oC or better and remaining above 0oC overnight. These conditions are for Banff and higher - where all the snow is. Was out today on the upper Bow - still VERY low but beginning to increase slowly. Hooked and landed 8. 3 on streamers and 5 on dries as a bwo hatch occurred about 2:30 during a drizzle. If I knew how to include some pics I would

I have successfully sued a fellow guide who owes me for trips. I have the certiifcate of judgement and have filed with a personal property something or other. I have been advised to file against his title to home but thius HAS to be done in CGY a 2 hour drive away. So, what costs can I contimue to charge against this dude, and how do I go about this. I hesitate calling a lawyer at this point as that too will cost and eat into any settlement I am finallly able to collect UNLESS I can add these other charges to HIS indebtedness. I won't mention names here, but pm me and I'll let you know.

As you can tell I have no idea about this sort of stuff.'m of tha era that a phonewas a phone was a phone - nothing more nothing less. Hints / tips????

Any News About 2 Stroke Outboards Banned In Alberta
angler replied to captrob's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
I've heard nothing - and it would be in the local papers - I'll check on Monday. -
OK< so with the $ as it is we are contemplating a trip to Idaho/Montana in June, instead of our usual east Koots trip. I'm all ears to suggestions for camping (truck and camper), fishing (lake and or river), some easy hiking. How about a stop on the Columbia en route??? Is this a bad time of year for rivers . . we go in early June cause winter is over and my guiding season 'officially' starts June 16 with the opening of est slope streams, usual clearing at end of run-off, and arrival of 'merican clients etc............. .......................

Tks Calkid but I am a mac guy so windows phones are out for me.

I'm looking into a palm or blackberry. Whos' got what and what do you like/dislike about it. I want it primarily for the PDA and phone functions- no web browsing, a big maybe on email, but probably only a few times a year. txt messaging maybe. So any preferences. btw I'm with Telus.

Anybody have any idea if the syncronization for palm works with the mac addressbook??

Called the salesman this am anf the best he could come up with was that the Windows install disc is bad. So now I'm looking for a disk that has some loads remaining that I can relaod a fresh version. Boy I sure do love computer - he said with tongue firmly planted in cheek. ......... and the saga continues

Bought an iMac on Frioday. Shop loaded Leopard and VMware Fusion. Was told setting up for and installing Windows was a snap and would be done in an hour. Well 2 days and baout 4 hours later I now have two virtual drives but get stuck on a message about the operating system. Shop told me it was related to the viirtual disk and say yes. I did - actually hit 'C' get a beep then nothing. Guess I shuda paid the guy the hour of HIS time to do it. Any 'dark side' gurus who may have 1/2 a clue as to what i'm doing wrong???
-
Here I sit in front of a brand spankin' new iMac 20" loaded to the nuts with memory and willing to goooooooo........... But like any new 'thing' it'll take a little getting used to. But i really like the big monitor after a 14" lap top. And I never did really like the klap top keyboard. This one is sweet. Got Fusion to run Windows which apparently will do just fine.. A bit frustrated tho' cause I can't seem to get to get things selected to import from my back up hard drive. Surely I don't have to import one song at a time???? I guess a call to the salesman will get things going. We'll see how it all works once I get everything loaded and set up.

Think I gotta buy a new one. Will know Friday. So, if I have to what PC brands are recomended - both for and against, and then there is the mac option which I am SERIOUSLY considering except for a bit of a concern about being able to run some Microsoft app. So, lets hear it. What to buy???

Thanks I'll try that tonight or tomorrow (if there is no fresh snow to go and play in)

For those who have followed my 'tweakXP' thread - I have found out that I have a hard drive and or another hardware issue. Backed up but I am pretty sure my mail boxes were not saved. I've looked and looked but all I can find are some old files but I can't l;ocate the current ones and FEAR loosing these when the machine heads to the shop. So, anybody got any hints as to where to look for these files. (I've used the windows explorer search to no avail. HELLLLLLLLLLLLP

OK Birchy: This morning uninstalled Office XP which according to screen was successful. Inserted product disc and started set-up - which got to the enter product code box. Cursor in 1st box for a few seconds then disappears and after a couple of minutes up comes the Office XP installer is not responding. Tried 3x. Same thing. AND the only way to get out is to unplug power and unplug battery - otherwise it just sits and soes nothing. ARGH. I called my service guy and he wants to take it in for repair. So, next ?? Can I run Quicktax, Quicken, and word processing, photo albums like all the Adobe suite etc, spread sheets from Lotus or Excel etc on a Mac. Does the mac recognize file types from these applications? How about itunes? So many questions and issues. What to do what to do.

Yeah Jeremy: If I was in the market for a new computer I'd become a mac guy in a heartbeat I'm not at hopme so can't try the suggested fixes YET. tomorrow night I'll give 'er a stab.

'twas thinking of upgrading from XP Pro but have gotten some advice that at least in Word things get pretty slow and I already complain of a way too slow machine. Apparently it is constantly doing 'scans' as you work. Comments pls.

not functioning good after running some of the tweak options. I can longer open any Office products. I can find the .exe files on the drive but when I try to start any of them (Word;Excel;Outlook) I get a message that they have not been loaded and to insert product disc. Anyone got any idea whas happening?????? HELP !!!!!!

Should Fishing Guides Be Licensed?
angler replied to DonAndersen's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
Clive: 1) A guide from SK can guide five, 15-year-old German anglers and they do not need one bloody license among them! Does it happen often? Probably never. It is a matter of principle: we are nuts to give away access to our resources like that. Crazy nuts. Am I mistaken?? I tho't that under 16 did not need a licence so lang as they are accompanied by a permit holder Am I wrong in this??? -
DRIFT BOAT no questions. As stated you can't go alone - unless u use boat for access and do all fishing from shore. Best with 2 buds BOTH of whom can row! Never really a problem - a quick post and you've got friends! I've tried 'toons a couple of times and was never so frustrated fishing in my live - found it virtually impossible to control my drift - fins wouldn't 'catch' in turbulent water - so NOT FOR ME. For lakes I much prefer my Zodiak. A factor for me is, having had a hip replaced and a bum knee - i find i am more comfortable standing than sitting for long periods. So, ya wanna buy a pontoon - Water Skeeter River Tamer????

f'slinger: Sorry but I have to disagree about the fly tying and cost stuff. I could probably buy every board member a dozen flies for the money I have 'invested' in tying tools and materials. (and NO I am not offering.) Now, I can sure tie up some stuff not available from any fly shop, and it is another facet of this addiction - BUT it does not make the loss of flies any less painfull to the pocket book.

There are guides who do walk and wade trips in the Park? Who?
