  1. Yeah, it's just a big conspiracy. The media overblows everything. Nothing is ever as bad as they say it is going to be. Except when it's worse. Who the eff knows? Not me. My hope is it is totally overblown. But I'm taking my shot. Downside it the government can track me now when they inject me with the damn chip. I bet it is made by RIM and they will get rich. And Snuffy, please don't confuse us with those pesky "facts". They get in the way of our conjecture.
  2. In 35 yrs of driving I've never gotten a ticket <10 mph or < 15 kph over that I can remember. I've also never not had them drop it to 10 over, again as far as I can remember.
  3. Fishermen are weird. It dont always have to be a challenge! I'd go in a second!
  4. Wow. Just finished your copy of "How to Win Friends and Influence People?"
  5. Here is the weather report from this morning: Awesome! I really wanted to take my buddy today, but I just can't get the motivation up for -5. Stupid global cooling.
  6. We should have had this discussion walking up (and up, and up) that long road in BC. Would have been interesting!!
  7. He's made a bunch of right wing Texans mad. That's always a good thing! Basically he's given the world hope just by not being Bush. Gives you some idea of how scary Bush was to the rest of the world (and I'm speaking as an American here). And on the war thing, I personally believe that keeping the Taliban out of power in Afghanistan is a worthwhile goal.
  8. Good Lord. This was supposed to be a post about what mag people like. How the hell did it get to center pinning being bad for fish (or at least based on that bastion of verified information, Wikipedia)? And furthermore-if you like a magazine say you like it and why. It is not necessary to bash any other magazine to show how much better the one you like is.
  9. Everyone thinks it is sooooo different today. When I was 16 I was looking for older friends to buy me beer or give me their ID when they turned 18 if they looked even remotely like me. Just like all of my friends did. My parents were typical parents, at least I think. Loving, supportive, and kicked my ass if they caught me doing things I shouldn't. Even though we did stupid *hit, but never malicious or particularly dangerous, though it too often involved too much alcohol. Just like all my other delinquent friends I finished high school (though we didn't always go to class), most of us went to college, more of us eventually matured, got jobs, and now bitch about our kids (actually we bitch about other peoples kids as ours are all angels) who get into THE EXACT SAME TROUBLE that we did. We think it is somehow more dangerous today because we hear about everything that happens. The video's in Sun's original post could not have happened as recent as what, 10 yrs ago. No one would never have known anything about this. Now it's splattered all over the intraweb. Things are not nearly as dangerous, or bad, as we are led to believe. There are the same percentage of bad kids today as there were 10, 20, 50, 100, 1000 yrs ago. Or I could be full of *hit.
  10. There is always someone to look on the dark side (not a star wars reference!). Sorry Mike, I like my fantasy land better than yours!
  11. In a few hundred years, food will come from a replicator. I'm telling you, Star Trek will solve all our current problems. And we get to have space wars!
  12. Happy birthday buddy. A bit of a cold day to swing streamers!
  13. I grew up watching Star Trek. Don't worry, in just a few hundred years the world will leave its capitalist money grubbing aside and all will live for the betterment of themselves and others. The Vulcans teach us how. It will be utopia. Flies will be free. Free I tell you! And engineers like me will get to travel all over the universe meeting hot green women. And can fly fish with free flies on the holodeck. We only have to wait a few short hundred years. Promise. But we will turn a blind eye to the slave labor on the dilithium crystal planets.
  14. Clive, You are obviously a whore of big corporations and as such are not rational. Good day to you sir!
  15. I say you move the "no opinion" vote to couldn't care less, and I'm tied for the lead!!! Mine is pretty recent. Taken on a Wed afternoon (Blue box is in front of house, my truck is in the driveway). Grass is nicely cut. Looks nice!
  16. Where's the "couldn't care less" option?
  17. I fished with a floating line and splits for the first time in awhile yesterday. I forgot to bring my extra spool of sink tip. I casted like garbage with the splits as opposed to the sink tip. Still caught fish, but I was a menace to myself!
  18. Chris, Let's plan on going to Hanson's one day this week over lunch and I'll pick some to donate.
  19. Guys, Sounds like fun. The trips you remember are the ones with, um, issues! Thanks for the story.
  20. Boy I hate those aisle hoggers. And parking spot hoggers. I also hate lane hoggers when I'm driving. And people who follow too close. And people who speed. And people who drive too slow. And people who stay in the left lane. And people buying lottery tickets when I just want to pay for my gas. And all the idiots who want Timmies when I do (actually, I don't hate them so much anymore, I just go to McDs). I don't particularly care for people who walk side by side on the sidewalk yakking while going to damn slow. I really, really hate people who stand near the middle of the door on the ctrain. Really hard to keep up with all the stuff I hate!
  21. x2
  22. Can i vote we retire the pokie emoticon?
  23. I'm completely confused. You are crazy, aren't you? Who else would she think your were?
  24. It's not really a passing down generations thing. All these guys are way more accomplished fly fishermen than I am. I would like the think the information is passing in all directions, when in reality I'm the one learning the most. And that's just because I know the least. And I agree, those young pups probably are laughing at this old guy! I however respect and revere those older than me!
  25. Now that the days are shorter, it is a bit more difficult to get out during the week. That and the fact that the kids are back in school and sports and my wife started working severely limits the time I have available. So I've been living vicariously through a few friends I've met on this site via pm's, texts, email, phone calls, etc. It struck me today the age gap between this eclectic group of guys. The youngest two are in their early 20s and definitely young enough to be my kids, then a couple of guys in their 30s, a couple about my age and a couple a bit older than me. It struck me today that when talking about fishing with these guys, I feel no age difference between them, if that makes any sense. Their just fishing buddies. Fishing buddies are ageless I guess. (all except Taco. That dude is old) Anyway, no real point to this. I just thought it was pretty cool that my chosen activity allows me to interact with people across generations, and people that I may not have much else in common with. That appeals to me.
