tgo Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 no longer available, whats up with that? Good on you for not being selfish about a record. Records are for accountants. Quote
RDevonshire Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Wow that BULL is huge, congrats, ,congrats, and cool dog as well. Quote
troutlover Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 love the part where he takes off and you can see his path through the water from the wake. Nice fish. DOOOD! Quote
theiceman2 Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Amaizing as always! The "Warren Miller" of Fly fishing Quote
beedhead Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Cosmic Bull dude!!!...Nice peice of work!!! Cheers...Jeff.. Quote
annapolis Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Crazy fish man, well done. I think I say him in late Aug. The pool where you landed him was stacked full of bulls, probably 40ish, it was crazy. Was it still stacked full or have they moved down since the spawn? That is an amazing, good work. Quote
EdB Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Great fish man and congrats. I've yet to catch a bully. Some one needs to take me. Quote
Kyle Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 awesome fish, not sure if you do care about the record or not but what we do at my lodge up north for big lakers is use chatillon scales and weigh the net. chatillon scales IGFA approved awesome bull again!!!! Quote
pknauth Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Congratulations! Well done; thank you for sharing this with us..... Catch and Release is a great management tool; someone else has a chance to admire this beautiful fish and return it to the ecosystem. Quote
ezcaddis Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Where did you get the graphing scale to get that fish's weight? Just wondering, as the 22lb statement seems a bit large, considering most 35" bulls weigh roughly 15-17lbs... still a monster though Quote
Crowsnest Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 http://www.trailstotrout.com/calculator.html according to the above calculator, the fish weighed an estimated 20.5 lbs (assuming 35.75" L x 21.5" girth) nice fish, but get a new net and chuck the piece of sheit you got. Quote
agbff Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 either way big fish... keep the net, its got some character. Quote
humblefisherman Posted September 29, 2008 Author Posted September 29, 2008 http://www.trailstotrout.com/calculator.html according to the above calculator, the fish weighed an estimated 20.5 lbs (assuming 35.75" L x 21.5" girth) nice fish, but get a new net and chuck the piece of sheit you got. haha, thanks! that net has seen a good many fish but none as large as that. Most of the time it is fine, on this large fish i'll have to agree... it was a piece of sheit. But i think I'll keep it for it's sentimental/superstitious value. As far as the calculation, it is a rough estimate using a similar calculator as the one above that was specific to Bull trout anatomy. It said 22.42 pounds but it is only an estimate. All i "really" know is that it was the biggest bull i have ever caught. Quote
Guest Outcasts Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Congrats. Saw the picture you posted on a different subject but the video really puts the icing on the cake. Youve already gotten enough kudos from everyone here to understand you hold the title of Largest bull on flyfishcalgary and in my opinion to kill a specimen like that just to show how far you can piss in the record books rather than see a dwindling population get a possible jump start. Congrats again and you made my day...i lost a 30+ brown in the elbow after landing it (tail thrashed just hard enough to get into the current and out of reach, made sure she was ok or woulda swam out to her) before i could take any pictures with my cameraphone. I was choked i didnt have another guy with me to take the picture but like you said I know i caught the fish and couldnt think of anything worse than harvesting a specimen like that when that experience could be had for another fisherman/woman through that fish or the fish he produced. We need more experienced anglers like yourself to teach us the humility and respect a population like that needs to get out of endangerment. Ive never seen the picture of the record to date and now i dont need to...ive already seen it. KUDOS!!!and not just for the fish. Quote

Bandi Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Wow. That is a monster! I would not like to meet him in the dark with that kype. The place looks a bit like River Park, where I was today. Though, there were much more dogs than fish, now. Well done and many more to come! Quote
