  2. Hello fellow fly fishers, We have made a submission to the 2012 IF4 film festival. In celebration of our 4 film submissions, I have put together a little "trailer" with a few clips from each film. Something to wet your whistle till we find out which ones (if any) get in. Wish us luck! Hope you all enjoy this short "1 min" Humblefisherman Trailer. http://youtu.be/68oCe8-EIO0 be well, The Humblefisherman
  3. Thanks everyone, Taco, since the filming of this i have had conversations with Jim Stelfox about my statements at 1:50. Your right. but I'm smarter today than i was yesterday, and that's all i'll say about that
  4. Hello fishing friends, With a new Black Shale experience on the horizon for 2011 i was forced to tie up the loose ends on some old footage. The Fly Fishing the Black Shale sub-series was filmed in 2009. This new film i have recently released was the final day or our 2009 heli trip experience. I hope everyone enjoys this final edition to this 3 prt series. Flight to the Black Shale Fly Fishing the Black Shale Fly Fishing the Black Shale prt 2 (the closer)
  5. Sweet Dude! What a year it was! Great pics, and even better memories.
  6. You peeps are awesome!!! thanks for all the support everyone! I'm in the process of moving to the country , so there may be a delay in the production of films. No worries tho! Plenty more where this came from We are beginning to plan our 2011 season, if any of you have show idea's you'd want to see happen send me a PM and I'll see if we can fit it in. Looking like it's going to be a great year ahead, and i wish all of you the very best fishing. Nice to meet some of you at the fly expo and sportsman show This city is full of hardcore fly fishers, unreal!! hope to see some of you on the water this year. If any of you have questions about the series, shoot me a message. Thanks again everyone, The Humblefisherman
  7. Thanks everyone Fish are creatures of habit, if i do all the same things at the same time this year i might just get another shot at it. Probably a shot in the dark, but one can hope. CF8 - As i lazily drew my name in the foam with my stonefly i watched a head the size of a seal emerge from the foam and engulf my golden stone. The reaction was made for that exact reason...I nearly lost my mind.
  8. It could have been so grand... makes me wonder if that old fish knew where to go to evade capture. I was sooo close. Sigh...
  9. Merry Fishmas Everyone As a very fly fishy weekend approaches, i wanted to celebrate the coming events with the release of another new film. Runaway Train. The Background, The day prior to filming this sequence of events, Geoff Pieroway from Pieroway Rods had just put the finishing touches on "The Humblestick". I was eager to take it out and stretch its legs. So we went to one of our southern haunts, and rigged it up to target post spawn Rainbows with Golden Stones. By the end of the day i had the ultimate confidence in the rod, and a major loss of confidence in myself. The rest of the story you'll have to observe for yourself. Hope you enjoy the latest edition to the Humblefisherman series. Thanks for watchin! Maybe I'll see some of you down at the show, I don't have a booth or anything, but i'll be around. On a side note, I have been so impressed with Geoff and the rest of the Pieroway clan that i have put up a very special offer. *Radio Voice* You can have the Humblefisherman as your guide for a day, if you buy Pieroway Rod between now, and June 16th. Buy a Humblestick and help support the series, or buy any Pieroway fly rod to be eligible for your chance to hang with Humble, and catch some super pigs! I think Geoff said he was going to have an entry box at the Pieroway booth, enter it, and lets go fishin!
  10. Soo-Wee Pigs in the Wind was one of those typical Spring on the frontrange days where the wind howls, and backs itself up with snow. Nasty, but worth it. Stripping his magical leech brought on a wicked fight with a giant Trout. Hope you enjoy the latest addition to the Humblefisherman Series. Pigs in the wind. May the fish be with you, The Humblefisherman.
  11. Thanks everyone! Lovin the comments!!! That rainbow was like hooking into a train! We went back 2 day's later filmed this... Trout Fever prt 2 REVENGE Hope everyone enjoys it. The Humblefisherman
  12. Hello All, As i sit here drinking my hot choco, i am reminded of warmer day's, it's cold as a witches tit outside right now!!! There is quite the background story to this movie, which forced me to pick the songs and title i used... I hope Strando isn't too mad about the closer for this! hahah!!! I had a bit of a producers block that I had to overcome before i began my winter flury of editing. This is this first of 6 movies set to be released over the coming weeks to help us deal with the coldest part of winter. Trout Fever is a two part film, the addition to this, (REVENGE) will be published within the week. Stay warm everyone, i hope you enjoy the latest addition "the Humblefisherman series". Thanks for watchin! The Humblefisherman
  13. Thanks Guys! Those Bow River fish love the midges, on top as a dry, or below as a blood worm, some of my biggest fish are caught on midges each year. The warm windless evenings before mid april are the key for the dries.
  14. Hello Friends, More time out of the cold has enabled the production of another of my archived adventures. Midge Clusters at dusk is from one of the many midgy evenings on the city section of the Bow River. This was an exceptional evening for the dry fly, and the fish jumped like crazy due to the shallow riffles i pulled them from. Hope you enjoy the lastest edition to the Humblefisherman series. Midge Clusters at Dusk. The Humblefisherman
  15. sweet Vid! I really enjoyed that, great tunes and some wickid big fish. Good job on the edits as well!
  16. Thanks everyone! I'll be sure to post soon with a few more.
  17. Hello Fishing friends, After a hair raising summer and fall, I've finally fallen into enough of a groove to get some editing done. The first movie is Dam Brookies. Just as the title states, I'm fishin a beaver dam. There is an irony to the title tho. As we know the Brook Trout is an introduced species in Alberta. Maybe I should of called it Damn Brookies, Just kidding, i am a big fan of the brook, with it's dressy show colors and aggressive attitude . I do state at the end tho, if your going to eat a trout in alberta, make it a brook trout. I like the native fish to have the advantage is all. The next movie is "Mountain Char" king of the Bull Trout. Some of the old timers that used to fish this river would talk about a seperate class of Bulls. These bulls would dwarf the other large males by more than a foot. Even eat them if given the chance. The genetics are still strong as i observed and caught one of these huge fish in August of 2008, and then again at the end of July this year (same fish?). I couldn't of landed this fish without the help of my buddy Jay, even tho he was ripped on poisonous berries, and a wasp sting to the neck, he still ran that thing down. Thanks Langer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQXditIlq4o Last but not least is another Bull Trout feature i created with my buddy Tyler. Ty and i have been fishin together for a few years now, we were going out for bulls and had one of those magical day's. The movie shows only 4 of the 12 big bullies we caught that day. Two of the fish in the movie run us into to downed trees, takes teamwork to land these fish. Some clear water that day made for some nice underwater clips. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMWnjJr1_n4 Hope you all enjoy the first of many new movies you'll enjoy over this winter season of 2010, Thanks for watchin! Jay Jones (the Humblefisherman)
  18. I think they are selling for around $380.00 maybe even a little less. Catchablity is infused into every rod
  19. Like most other rod companies the blanks are rolled in Korea. Geoff has been over there, and developed a relationship with the company doing the blanks so they roll them to the specifications he gives them. He also does Bamboo, but he hand cuts the grass rods. The graphite blank we use for the humble rod is a dickerson taper, which is quite a similar in feel and castability to bamboo just alot faster, i like a slower tip with a stiff lower and thats what this has. I love the feel of the rod and the shorter handle, it also added a solid 15 feet to my roll cast. When i first started fishing this rod i told Geoff i wanted to chop 6 inches off the tip, just like i do with all my other store bought rods. After giving it a few trips out i have come to appreciate the softer tip on some of the advanced casting techniques. Been fishing my demo rod since February and fought two of my largest fish to date. The rod survived. I told Geoff i had to put it through the ringer before id put my name on it... My name is now on it. The project took us 4 months to complete and i'm glad it's done. I love the rod. On to more fishing vids
  20. Thanks guy's, it was a fun project and i'm super happy with how the rods turned out. Pieroway is a true artisan and very passionate about what he does, it comes across in the finished product. I think i've caught around 125 fish on that demo rod so far this year, and even fought a 3 foot long Bull (future episode). Still holding up strong. Those dudes make some nice rods.
  21. Many of us fish our favorite rods day in and day out without knowing what goes into making that rod we are using. I teamed up with Pieroway Rods here in Calgary to not only help design the rod but to document the process behind it. This is quite different than my regular vids, and presented many challenges for me as a producer. At long last it is done, and I'm happy to present you with the newest edition in our long line of fly fishing videos. Building the Humble Rod. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8G4QThnUMQ hope you enjoy, thanks for watchin! The Humblefisherman
  22. Haha, tried that. Jayhad's got the trip. Thanks all.
  23. heres the quick of it, took my drifter to the car wash tonight and realized a weld on my trailer has broken. i have a trip to do tomorrow at around nine and the trailer won't make it as it is right now. I can probably get it done at a shop in the am but thought i throw it out to anyone who can do it first thing in the morning for me (mobile unit?). I have my drifter off the trailer and the weld would be a quick job. I'll trade a drift trip down the bow or a walk and wade trip into one of my "secret backcountry spots". rollin the dice here, offer only open till 8 30 am when i phone the guy's shop. it's like 1030 now. 10 hour window to send me a message. thanks guy's!
