Popular Post monger Posted July 30, 2017 Popular Post Posted July 30, 2017 So the low lifes hit my truck last night on my street and went through everything. Thankfully they left my rods but took my pack stuffed with flies, a reel and associated fishing stuff. They took a few other little things, but I think they are looking for money. I figured they wouldn't want all my flies so I was alley cruising looking for my pack when I got a call. A guy a few streets over found my stuff scattered between his house and his neighbor's. Being a fisherman himself, he looked through my stuff to find my licence. Then he packed the stuff up and brought it to my house......SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any way, this fellow Darrel, has just started a little fishing company with a couple of patents on some lures. Pinwheel Lures. All the best to Darrel. So thankful to see all those fly boxes and my new reel this morning. Some serious hours of labour invested there. 16 Quote
Dangus Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Yeah I bring my fly boxes in from the garage even. I can't fathom losing all those flies. Spent far too many hours at the bench. A reel and rod can generally be replaced easily! Quote
fishinglibin Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 Once I had all my flies stolen from my truck. It was a sad pain in the arse. Good on you Darrell !! Quote
SilverDoctor Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 Feel your pain, lost a gps and rods a couple of years ago. I hate "#$@&" thieves. 2 Quote
Ricinus Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 Nowadays, if it's not welded or bolted to the truck, it will probably get stolen. Glad you got it all back and kudos to the fellow that called.. 2 Quote
trailhead Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 I found a high end bike in my alley a month ago and called the bike shop where it was purchased. Turned out the woman that owned it lived a couple of blocks away and it had been stolen out of her unlocked garage. Those thieving bastards are everywhere and due to the economy unfortunately they are desperate. Glad you got your stuff back. 1 Quote
monger Posted July 31, 2017 Author Posted July 31, 2017 I have seen some scary dudes riding bikes around the neighborhood peaking into people's garages. While folks are in the backyard, they are in and out of your garage. You can't leave your garage unattended at all these days. So sad to see the city reaching this state Quote

So sad to see the city reaching this state Unfortunately monger it is absolutely everywhere nowadays. Even the really small towns. And the rural break ins as well. As victims we have no rights to defend (no I'm not trying to be pro-gun here) but not even enough where you could hit someone with a baseball bat, for fear of being charged for assault yourself. I have been hit several times the last little while, my personal and company trucks. Don't know how they get in, no windows smashed, no slim jimmed windows/locks. My most recent frustrating item thieved was my reading glasses. Same thing, buggers tearing my truck apart grabbing everything they can, and take my prescription glasses. What good could those possibly be to anyone but me? Sorry not trying to derail, I'm glad there was a great ending to this story for once. Quote

Dangus Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 I dream of a home alone version of defence. Ha Installed a security system a week or so ago after having a couple attempts at break/ins of my garage in 2 years. We'll see if it does anything. At the very least, it's good for monitoring the house when the pets are home alone. Quote
ÜberFly Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 At least it will give you warning if someone has broken in... Wouldn't count on a quick response from CPS, but at least it's somewhat of a deterrent... I dream of a home alone version of defence.
