Don't let him near any landowners, he may talk for hours. If he's catching too many fish, just point him in the direction of a flower. That will keep him off the creek for a while.

I kinda like that flower trick but the 2 dozen flower pics he'll post eventually maybe kinda irksome.

Thanks for the tips

Hence my warning about him poaching your water!! :P

I will caution against ever tying your shoes. He will use that as an opening to jump ahead and catch the biggest fish of the day.

He just likes to get to the top of the run to make sure there are no grizzlies that may scare you. It's really all just about protecting his buddies.

Snouthunter must be related to Bob,yes??

Note to self:In the future when fishin with D @ 4am,ALWAYS tie on a fly at the truck/Do NOT wait until on the river and pointing to where 20" rainbow lives as he most surely will poach 4 casts in while you are stringing up and hook n land said 20" rainbow.

I stand here humbled, 24 inches of fish to one 6" fish..... mind you his came in 6" increments as well.

What a difference a week makes.

Couldn't get a touch on a streamer; streamer was killin' it last couple trips.

Nothin' but cutties this time around, all on dries.

BTW, Vagabond, I carried 2 rods & waited until Taco was fishing before I strung 'em up.

I like to give my buddy a head start, you see. :)

I really am a nice fella; if you don't believe, ask me. :angel:smail:

Some pretty dark clouds rollin' through when we started...

Cleared off quickly, though...

They were few & far between...

...and, you had to get into some tight spots to coax 'em out. This one came from where the arrow is pointing- an 18" wide space between the tree trunks, with no choice but to yank him right out over as soon as he ate the fly!

Just about time to call it a day. You can see our friend, Taco, in the bottom left corner of this shot...

Le end!

Good times, even if the fish had lockjaw.

Next time, my friend.

Next time...

Good lord, he must must be a fishing world champion. I don't know if you've noticed, but he posts a few pictures.I think he is a force to be reckoned with if you use this as your metric:

Fishing awesomeness=number of fish caught

Hard to see bobloblaw as anything other than a master.

However, a more normalized measure may be:

Fishing awesomeness=number of fish caught/number of trips

And even though he takes a LOT of trips, I'd still say he would rank highly on the fishing awesome scale.

But it could be argued that it only counts when you are actually fishing. Not everyone fishes all the time on any trip. So:

Fishing awesomeness=number of fish caught/number of casts

Even then our friend Bob would be pretty tough to beat.

However, I think the metric should include the energy expended in each "casting event" so

Fishing awesomeness= number of fish caught/(number of casts+number of false casts).

Not so awesome now are ya Stevie boy?

Taco probably has bigger hands.

Yep.

When I shake hands with him, I use both hands & one foot, and still feel under-gunned.

Just 'cuz I like ya, Tex, I'm gonna let you in on my secret.

Fish get conditioned.

They are far more aware of our presence than we give them credit for.

They learn to time our casts, and don't eat stuff floating by right after we cast our fly (flies) into their feeding lane.

I keep 'em confused.

"Watch out, everyone. A fisherman just arrived. Here he goes, now. False cast. False cast. False cast. Again..."

"I think he actually cast that time; don't eat!"

"You sure?"

"Nope. Here he goes again. False cast. False cast. False cast. False cast. Again....again...again..."

"Damnitall, I'm hungry. Here comes a big juicy hopper, & a stonefly nymph, and a big ol' worm. I'm gettin' 'em before someone else does!!!"

"Noooooooooooo!!!!"

Easy-peasy, lemon-squeezy!
