WOW...Sweet lookin fish...Thanx for sharing!

There was quite some water open on the Far East shore...Not sure if it will close up...I'm thinking it wont...But...I live close and would hate to see you drive all this way to have no open water...If I drive out and it is froze over...No big deal...I just go for a drive..And take all the back roads home..And make a little tour of it, take a few pics along the way...By Sat or Sun, I'm pretty sure there will be some open water...Going out again tommorow, and will let all yas know what it is lookin like... Agreed...4&6 Weight...Unless going for monster pike, huge Salmon or big steel head....My thoughts... Try to fit in a 5 weight too...

I am far from an expert...I learned to nymph without a indicator years ago and did very well on streams with out them...as did my freinds...Then they started using Indies and I didn't....Then there were some days one of my buddies would catch a couple more fish than me using an indicator...And I started to think it was cuz of the indicator...It was just a head game thing... The last couple years that I have been fishing with ggp (from the board)..and watching him catch fish after fish, without an indicator...got me back to learn how to fish without an indicator on streams...I have since fished with people that fish with an indicator...And I catch as many or more fish than them.(not bragging)...I find if you become one with the line..and feel the bottom rocks as your fly bounces over them...Knowing it is rocks..and not a hit...Bouncing the rocks on bottom makes your indicator go under or do things that make you set a false hit...And maybe spook fish, leading you to cast, and to try to get that perfect drift once again...If you keep up with your line and feel everything through your fingers...You will know the diff between bottom rocks and a hit...Heck...you can use your floating line as an indicator...I'm not saying that is the way to go...But I find it allot more challenging, than watching an indicator go under the water...I still use indicators when needed...don't get me wrong....I really like to use them on still waters...Once again...I'm not saying that is the way to nymph...But I sure enjoy it once again.. I kinda thought the wind would keep it open as well...But it has been some cold in the hills the last few days...Ive been keepin track of the weather up there...Had a 50-50 feeling on ice coverage on the way out to the lake today...Oh well...got my fix-with a couple not bad females...Randy...Your time is coming....I can just feel your anxiety building..As I know you love to fish this lake...Where in the frick did spring go???... What happened to that +28 stuff we had....

Took a tour to B.H. Today to check things out...Damn near frozen over...A little bit of the far far East side was Open...Seen a guy fishin over there so I thought I'd giver a shot too...As I did drive out to fish...When I got the lake it was snowing a little...Just a breeze...not too bad I thought to myself...By the time I trampled trough the 2-3 foot drifts...Got a few casts in...Got a couple fish to hand...The snow stopped...And the wind just started to HOWL...That was enough for me...Guides froze...Hands froze...reel froze...The guy that was fishing on the East bank up from me , must of had some serious warm clothes and a some kind of a rod de-icer ...Cuz he stayed for a while till I seen him walk back to his truck...Just before I left..A couple regular spin casters showed up that I have got to know over the past...We talked for a bit..and They were going to giver a shot aswell... Thought I would show a few pics...(No fish pics...Camera stayed in the truck)...There were a couple real brave gophers...

The River gets allot of traffic now as it is....Can you Imagine how Crowded the River will be if the Resort goes in???.. That won't be good for the River or the Fish...ie..Litter...Fish being pulled from the river...Poaching...So on and so on...My thoughts....

Finally got my daughter back to Calgary yesterday...Checked road conditions on the net....Said they were good...Not really...Still drifted snow clear across the Hi-way... Seen one plow out between Med Hat and Calgary... ...Hit a couple white outs on the way....Hmm...Not impressed...Roads were good on the way back to the Hat...Due to some sunshine...And not snow plows...

Ravaged is right....No selection of reels...Fly tying material....and low on just about everything for the last month.... Hope they get some stuff in soon....been looking for cheaper end reel...but no selection....All 3/4's and 7/8's... They did replace my 444 classic...I bought some a month ago...and it started to crack....Was happy bout the line replacement. Sorry for the hijack...just had to put in my 2 cents...

Thats pretty cool....Photo shop pic (above) with the dots helped me make up my mind....looks to me to be the same fish...

I measure all the small ones at B.H...For Terry...And measure a few of the hawgs...Measured alot of fish in that lake so I'm usually pretty close on the guesstemates....

Ya...I did some roll casting with Myth's Rod (4wt Orvis..DT.Mastery Series line)...And ya...Did it ever roll cast like a hot damn.... I remember Myth saying..."When did you get so good at roll casting"...Musta bin the line....I guess???...
