I had to go for Wolfie's. That thing looks like a cartoon. Very inventive and if I had to tie one like that, I'd have to throw out a dozen before I got it right. Cool fly.

Anyone Mind Giving Me Some Pointers On The Bow?
hydropsyche replied to Eyford01's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
There are tons of tips on this site but I think in general, you need to image nymphing as underwater dryfly fishing. Dragless drift but on the bottom. It all comes down to line and depth control and imaging how the hydraulics of the water is affecting your drift. If its not natural, the fish isn't going to take it. You will always miss takes because you can't see it but the more takes, the greater the chances of hooking up. Search the internet and read books on water/river hydraulics. ps. Welcome to the site. -
Smitty. I couldn’t find the sarcasm emoticon. My second line should have given that away (HRC - ideology - gone too far)

Rightwing jerk. What kind of Canada does he thinks he lives in? What a beautiful example of ideology gone too far.

I Plain Don't Get It

Evaluating for profit healthcare to socialistic healthcare comes down to a couple of things for me (and I don't know the answers). The belief that government can never be as efficient as private. Probably true but probably not when looking at any huge corporation. The belief that socialism never leads to technological advances as much as capitalism. (probably true. What motivates better then money?). My concern and apathy for my fellow man and for myself. Desperate people do desperate things. Look after them and they won’t smash you over the head with a hammer to steal your wallet. So, as we see America take a step closer to our system (applause), I’m also hoping Canada takes a step closer to theirs. -
I agree. Sure, you leave the shop $30 poorer because you just bought the materials for a fly you want to tie. But my buddy just spent $30 on 1 doz flies he's going to loose pretty quick. At least your materials will last quite a while. I've spent, I don't know, maybe 1-2k on materials now. Over 6-7 years. But now, I very rarely buy anything other the hooks and maybe beedheads. I bet my buddies have spent that over the same time period (depends on how much you fish/lose) and I probably have 4x the flys they have. So, I think if you fish a lot, tying your own becomes cheaper in the long run (not counting your time, of course)

I was think more along the lines of poachers or PETA but I like the suggestions so far. Pipes, we're all still kids at heart, we just pretend we're not. -

I was wondering what they should call the inhabitants of uranus. The possibililties are endless...... -
I have a Dan Craft 1wt, 7ft that I absolutely love. I can't recommend it highly enough. I can't find it on their website. This is the closest I can find but maybe if you ask, they might have 1wt's still. Here is a 1wt. Not the same as I have, but you can't go wrong with a Sig III.

Sitting On Your Wallets!!
hydropsyche replied to DonAndersen's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
I remember taking to a fairly high paid manager about a house keeping strike that was going on. She said they were being greedy. I asked her if she could trade jobs with them and still keep her salary, would she? She said No. Her response invoked a lot of deep thought around compensation and peoples perception of entitlement. -
If that is true, he has Gordon Campbell beat by a BC mile.

What Fly Shops Will Never Tell You

I want to be a Busted up 40sumpthing.. but I will probably have to wait to be a Busted up 60sumpthing.. That Old Man Carey sounds like someone we have the pleasure of frequenting this forum, except he probably has 200 days/yr and a constant grip about Calgary, the Bow River and Urban dewellers. -
Putting my two passions together in one shot. Why didn't I think of that? Sweet.

I didn't watch because I'm a jinx. Everytime I watch, the team I'm going for starts getting scored against. Or at least it seems that way. This is an honest question for those that watched every game, because I don't know. How many fights was there? Its been claimed hockey can't be played without fights, so how many?

Anticipation It's what motivates me to craft my own rods after pouring through catalogues of bits and pieces. Selecting what needs to come together to make that perfect tool for this perfect sport. Anticipation It dictates, through the visions in my head, what fly is needed for the conditions of the day. It tells me to put on a dropper, just in case. Anticipation It screams at me “This is going to be Great!”. Anticipation It keeps me sane.

Climate Change Study Of Scientific Consensus

I vote for Tim Ball. He's qualified and he's strongly against. If they are so certain, they have nothing to fear. -
Rickr, you're turning into a Canadian???? WTF??? Don't forget your roots, man. We need a 'merican here else we have no one to bash to feel good about ourselves. :derby racer:

Dog Park Etiquette Inquiry
hydropsyche replied to ÜberFly's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
I agree. Take the money, run and learn from the experience. I'm sure they will. No matter how well you train your dog, it has its own mind and things happen in the blink of an eye. Maybe take the money and report it afterward so its on record because If she doesn't muzzle her dog from now on and another dog gets hurt, then appropirate action based on past behaviour will have to be taken. But they have to have it on record first. -

Random violence hits closer when you *are* the victim. Society shouldn't put up with it in *any* form. One punch, or elbow to the head, could kill a person. -
Wow. You should be featured on Ripley's Believe it or Not. edit: Did some digging. This Chick is awesome too.
