  10. the most memorable fish for me this year wasnt one i caught but hooked! i was out on a camping trip with dub d and my baby sister katieloohoo fishing for cutties and bulls. we had all hooked some good fish over the trip and on the last day i wanted too get a gooder or two on teh line for my lil sister too reel in.. mid way through the day i felt a good grab and hooked something solid so i dished the rod off too katieloohoo.. when th fish took the first run she had too take a step forward too keep her balance.. after a few mintues she looked up at me taking pics and said "my arms hurt" i encouraged her she was doing great and keep on fighting! we got a good look at the fish and i laughed (realizing it wasnt a little bull and her 11yr old arms should hurt!) a minute or two later we landed a bull that almost broke 30"! totally capped the trip and my year! cant waite for nextyears trip!!
  11. the only time ive had teh souls pop out is when iw as changin em on t fly mid day and had a bunch of gravel n much get into t tongue.. once i rinsed it out i havnt have a problem in 400 ish days on teh wtaer the last 2 years.. ive seen them pop out on others dudes feet too if they dont use a key, knife, screwdriver or whatever too tuck the lip of the soul under the rim either.. wich makes sence!!!! i think they fixed t problem.. ive seen the oldshool souls and they changed the desin with teh outer rim and how they "pop" in.. hope that helpss dude
  12. im all in on th korkers boots! i own the guide model with the boa laces.. hte midrange model and teh torrent wading shoe and love em all!!! the idea of being able too swap out souls when they wear out or when needing different traction on different surfaces is ey for me!!!! love the ice cleats for the winter, studded aquastealth for almost anywere and aquastealth the most for stalking trouts!!! studded felt are good too and the hikers are good when i dnt deal with big boulders! ive yet too have the boa system freeze up on me too.. works deadly! best for/during wearing th boots once they soak and stretch a bit....

  14. yea and hopefuly they dont lay that chemical down they did lastyear that does harm too trout!
  15. i try too match my beed color too the color of my nymphs head! for some caddis mayflies and stones i will have gold copper green brownor black.. all depending on teh bugs natural color! it might help a bit but it makes me feel better knowing that they look more "real" but for years i used gold and caught tons of fish too! btu i think matching the nymphs propper color does come in handy specially in clear water conditions! for midges and emergers i like silver
  16. keep at is al do a search on here tons of great topics on fishing teh bow , streamer fishing teh bow, nymphing teh bow etc.. the bow is not the easeist of rivers too learn on bt its no imposible either! keep at it do lots of research and you will be rewarded soon enough!
  17. nicely done!!
  18. that was a good dvd! its a cool river too! didnt find any fish gobblin them bugs when i was there tho
  19. for pike flies i like yak hair the best.. its durable.. dosnt absorb water and come in a long length making it easy too tie large flies without much effort!!!! polarbear would be my second choice! a good perch tied in a stacked clouser style would be thin green thick olive thick yellow thin orange use the sharpy too give it the marks and your laughin! sorry no pic but she is a pretty easy tie and damn near bulletproof with the yak! dna is also a good choice for material... hold marker pretty good
  20. i prefer the shorter speys and switches in th 10'6" too 12' range in t 6 or 7wt.. 7's or 8' for switches.... bin loving teh Mod Edit please don`t mention brands like the loop opti switch in the 6 the last few outings.. deadly trout stick for the bow!
  21. im no expert but it looks like that cap is attached too the reelseat.. u might halfto replace teho whole thing.. wich isnt really all that major.. i would talk too wayne down at fishtales.. he has bin a major insight for me on a few rod building related questions!
  22. happy b-day dude!
  23. dope pics dude u really captured the day! the first shot it sick! got te reflection in teh glasses!! nice!!!!!
  24. ive ibn using swivels for years now they are awsome!! gives you the extra weight and if u need a spot too attache more split for heavy current i attach them just above the swivlel so i dont halfto worry about them sliding down too my nymphs.. uberfly has nailed it.. i like a 7ish foot leader then th tippet and nymphs below!
  25. nice barnes!!!!!!! and i agree with ya! bin tying more tubes in a variety of speys, dees hair or feather wing etc.... mostly one offs and a bunch of the ones i really like! but never hooked steel on!!!!!! itll work!!!!!!!!! just love tyin em eh!
